Burger Island
Hey surfin' dudes and dudettes! Have you heard about that bodacious betty who has been bagging burgers over on Mount Tikikola beach? Patty Melton, the new owner of the fast food sensation, Burger Island, makes the most totally radical lunch on this side of the Pacific, and she needs your help!
In this new downloadable game from Sandlot Games (creators of tasty treats, such as Cake Mania and Westward) you can help Patty and her stuffy maitre d serve up delicious treats such as Hot Lava Fries and the Aloha Shake. But first, you'll need to learn the art of the basics, and fry up a hamburger and some fries. Don't delay, and don't forget the ketchup, because the residents of Tikikola beach are an impatient bunch.
When you first start, Patty's snobby maitre d will walk you through the steps of food preparation. (Do not burn ze fries!) Even if you choose to skip his instructions, it is easy to figure out what you need to do. As customers enter the restaurant, their orders appear across the top of the screen, with the necessary ingredients listed. Add the correct ingredients in order, and in time, and start racking up the cash.
When you've completed a round, you can take the money you've earned to buy new recipes from a masked Tiki chief. Eventually, you and Patty may earn enough money to remodel the restaurant. In the meantime, comic book-style pages describe Patty's story, offering entertaining breaks in between rounds of cooking.
Analysis: With the comic book theme and a catchy surf-rock tune playing in the background, Burger Island is clever and casually entertaining, ...for a while. As recipes become more complex, the customers also become more impatient. (The thermometer-shaped timers indicate how close they are to leaving. By the double digit levels, they aren't sticking around long.) As it becomes harder to keep track of the orders, the game quickly becomes more challenging. If you enjoy having your concentration skills pitted against the clock (and you would like a side of fries with that) be sure to check out Burger Island.

Are there any games similar to this, where you can mix food or cook, which you don't have to pay for?
I have searched on the internet a lot, because they are fun I think, but I only found games that you have to buy. Can somebody recommend a game?
not bad, I played just until I got the beach burger shop. It gets a bit repetitive though, I think. I would have liked to have had to make combos. Making a burger at the same time as having to make a shake or fries, be it within the same meal or a different one on the same level, but the level (up to where I played) was just all shakes or all fries etc.
I also would have liked to see a chain bonus. When you do the same things in a row like in Diner Dash, but there didn't seem to be one that I noticed.
On the whole it was fun to play, but only in small doses I think.
Claudi - There's an online version of Diner Dash you can play, which is one of the first games to be released with similar gameplay. You don't actually prepare the food as much as you serve it, but you can play it in your browser (for free). =)
Also, there is a free online version of Cake Mania available to play in which you prepare cakes and decorate them for customers.
Claudi - I remember a fantastic game called Burger Blitz, way back when. You ran a burger pushcart thing, and you made orders as they came. Graphics are not quite as nice as in Burger Island, but it was more complex, and awesome fun. It was online, good, and free.
It was created by Handy-Games, but now they've moved to producing games for the mobile phone and the original Burger Blitz is no more. :(
Pity... it was good.
I love these kinds of games, but I'm really disappointed with the cursor movement...it's waffly & slow. I'm just finding this more frustrating than fun.
A shame.
If only they had Mac support...
@jay I allready know this games and they are great too, but they are only demos and you can only play them until ceartan level. Is it not possible to find something like this online, for free?
I can't seem to get past level 54... any hints?
p
This game starts out way to hard if you make a sequel please make it less hard in the beginning and let it work its way up a little slower, this went from hard to harder in less than a minute and it becomes almost impossible after a few levels
Does anyone have any other games that are sort of like this that AREN'T diner dash or the waitress?
Try the brand new game, Miss Management that was just reviewed today.
how to edit "data.xml" to get rid of old 'item' that i had bought.
This game is wicked funn to play and it doesnt matter how old that you are. First the game starts out easy but then as the levels go on the produce to get harder and harder! But this game is fun and will keep you buisy through anything...
