DoraMonkey GO Happy 4If there's something we can all agree on, it's that you shouldn't mess with monkeys. Sure they start out all cute and cuddly, but don't let that fool you; every monkey is just a heartbeat away from morphing into a screeching, poo-flinging whirlwind of fangs and bad attitude. So in a way, it's a good idea to keep them as happy as possible when you can't keep your distance, and Pencilkids' latest point-and-click puzzle Monkey GO Happy 4 aims to do just that. In this latest installment of the simian-centric series, your goal is to make all four shivering, sad little beasts as cheerful as possible by clicking around the screen until you trigger something to amuse and delight them... whereupon they will celebrate in the creepiest fashion possible. (Monkeys scare me, okay?!) Just watch for your cursor to change to display an area you can interact with, and try to change your surroundings for maximum monkey excitement.

Inherent monkey distrust aside, Monkey GO Happy 4 is still a pretty cute, silly game with loads of charm. The whole process of actually making the wee beasties happy can seem a little strange (unless you're also the type compelled to do backflips over noisy trains), but the changing cursor tends to cut down on the difficulty and makes this one great to share with any little monkeys of your own you might have running around. If there's any quibbles to be found, it's that some of the stages can drag a bit (such as level 6), especially when it comes to repeated item use... come on, if we have six batteries, can't you just use them all at once rather than making us click each one in individually? But aside from these minor complaints, Monkey GO Happy 4 is just the sort of weird, casual fun to indulge in whenever you need a break. Just make sure you keep an eye on the little guy. He's going to do something. I can feel it.

I have just a few words to say: You've got to be freaking kidding me. Now I'm going to actually play it.

199 out of 200 on the final level. I don't think I can be bothered to go through it again to find the one I missed.

Reply

@MdB you might have missed the one in the wolf's eye.

Aaaannnddd... done. Don't feel like making a walkthrough at the moment, but I might get to it eventually.

Reply

I'm a "mediocre monkey".
I like this series alot, but the old grandpa monkey isn't cute- just creepy. he doesn't look like he's on the verge of tears like the other three!!

Considering the rather brutal sense of humour in these monkeys (i.e. like to thrash the castle) the game *almost* ought to be rated yellow...

Reply

I got 190 out of 200 candies on the bonus level, & my final rating is "Golden Chimp".

Reply

How people have managed to below 130 is beyond me. I got 132 with 2 mistakes and found all 200 candies, and I can only think of one level where I can save one click.

Just played it with my youngest. That is, we started together, but she left somewhere around level 6. "The other Happy Monkey were much more fun!"

I think I see her point. This version doesn't seem quite as thought through as previous versions.

Reply

I've got to agree with Vanessa - the old monkey creeps me out.

My only beef with this series is how you have to beat all the levels to replay the last level. For both number 3 and this one, I didn't find all the candies, but I didn't want to play through the whole game again just to try and figure it out.

Was amusing, but a bit too silly for my tastes. Is well described by the term "Casual" Gaming.

Reply

I TOTALLY agree with so many other people- the old monkey scared me out of continuing to play the game!

Reply

I kind of liked the old monkey. Sad old people make me sad. For number 15 (just a comment, not a hint)

I thought those were onions, but apparently they're eyeballs. And I bet those aren't artichokes, either.

Drat, I was thinking of making one of those soups.
