What's in an adventure game? Not just point-and-clicking! In this list of twelve great adventure games you might not have played, we cover everything from ponies to foxes to dwarves, monster collecting, tiny woodland heroes, and more!
The Everloom is an artistic adventure game by Lucas Paakh that takes players on a trip through a forest of imagination. Beautiful in aesthetics, not all of the elements mesh mechanically, but it remains a fascinating piece of work that compares favorably to the rest of Paakh's canon.
The Naked Alien is an action platformer by Lucas Paakh that offers players a quirky encounter of the nude kind, as its titular being sets out to map uncharted territory. It's a little by-the-numbers, but The Naked Alien is strangely amusing, and definitely showcases the developers prodigious artistic talents.
It's-a me, Mario! And William. And Tim. And a whole bunch of other awesome people. This week's Link Dump Friday not only features the usual batch of interesting news, but also features an interview with the one and only Lucas Paakh, creator of the wildly popular William and Sly games.
This sequel to Lucas Paakh's William and Sly is a vast, richly layered feast for the eyes. While gameplay remains much the same, there are also marked changes (improvements as far as most players will be concerned): no more darklings or boss battles yet plenty of exploration, item gathering, and questing. Gaining helpful abilities involves your platforming and puzzle-solving skills to add just the right amount of gameplay into what is a sumptuous work of interactive art.
Go underwater in Lucas Paahk's stunning new exploration-centric sandbox game about one lovely fish and one big, beautiful ocean. Collect tokens, run races, perform acrobatic tricks and uncover secrets in a truly stunning oceanic environment. Though lacking any sort of story or overarching goal, Azurefish provides a relaxing, atmospheric experience that you can really sink yourself into.
From developer Lucas Paakh comes a journey into the fantastic with William and Sly. Take on the role of an agile fox in a fantastic world, working to uncover all of it's secrets and find out the reason why a network of teleportation runes has suddenly stopped working. With a massive map to explore, achievements to earn, and powers to acquire, William and Sly is almost more experience than game.
Ether Cannon is a new action shooter from Luke Paakh of Pop Ethos. You control a space ship which is the last hope of... Well it doesn't really say, but it seems urgent. It's a beautiful game, the particle effects in it are just brilliant, and the action it delivers is (mostly) smooth, polished, and pretty refreshing. The game does a great job of delivering lots of fast shoot-em-up fun without ever reaching a plateau.
