If you were to play one kind of game for the rest of your life, what would it be? Puzzle? Platform? Racing? If you said "awesome", you win the prize! The same prize everybody who said anything but awesome gets! Free games to play!
Brutally Unfair Knytt (Windows, 19.5MB, free) - Yay, more Knytt from Nifflas! This mod of the original Knytt game was created to promote the release of B.U.T.T.O.N. (Brutally Unfair Tactics Totally Ok Now), a multiplayer-only PC game created by the Copenhagen Game Collective with music by Nifflas. It's not a new game, but the world has been re-skinned, items are in new locations, and there are a handful of other surprises. Even if you mastered the heck out of the original game, the mod gives you plenty of reason to revisit the beautiful world that is Knytt.
heART (Windows, 7MB, free) - From the creator of Diminish and Dissipate comes heART, a charming exploration platformer about a young boy in love. Eid is searching the world to find his loved one. Along the way he's gathering hearts, knowing she wants a man with more heart than anyone else. You can spend a lot or a little time exploring the game's intricate world, but there are plenty of things to find and depending on what you do, you'll see one of four unique endings. There are even some RPG elements mixed in with the gameplay, creating a balanced and engaging platform experience you'll devour right away!
John Cube (Windows, 7MB, free) - A very good block pushing puzzle game along the lines of Sokoban. It may not reinvent the genre, but it does a darn good job polishing it to a brilliant shine. Your job is to push blocks around the level and set them on the red switches located across the screen. Place the boxes, activate the exit, and head to the next world, it's that simple. Except, getting the boxes where they need to go requires a lot of thinking and planning. Seriously, the level design in this game is superb, and there isn't really a set of tutorial levels to warm you up, either, you just hop right in. A great little game with plenty of content.
Note: All games have been confirmed to run under Windows 7 and are virus-free. Mac users should try Boot Camp, Parallels, or CrossOver Games to play Windows titles, Linux users can use Wine. If you know of a great game we should feature, use the Submit link above to send it in!
Thanks, that HeART one looks nice.
Thanks for featuring. The game is also on GameJolt.com if anyone wants to play it there.

Yesss! I rerelease (kinda) of Knytt! What exactly is "Adult Mode" in the game? Does it add more enemies or reduce the proximity of save points?
-OH GEEZ. I have it open as I type this and messages pop up when you're idle. When it says "Don't press S"
Really, don't press it.
heART was fun until it glitched out on me when I had completed probably 90% of it - now I can't get past one of the area transitions, and my player character vanishes if I go back one area. Hoping to see if anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this.
Also the heART soundtrack is great! Is there any place to purchase/download it?
heART was interesting, but had poor controls. I also suffered the same glitch as Tom; I wanted to backtrack and use my enhanced abilities to reach an unreachable chest in the first area, but when I went back my character vanished and the game bugged out.
I've yet to find the player disappearing in heART through the area. What area was it? was it from the cave back to the grass? And I'll get the download link for the music.
Has anyone encountered lag?
I'd just like to say that i fixed the bug when you leave the mountain area and leave the game... i accidently made the character go to a y axis of 900 instead of 600.... haha.
So, i THINK i finished the brutal knytt... but when i took off at the end, we hit another asteroid?
@Ed
The bug was on leaving the mountain - the game would stay 'Loading' indefinitely. Nice to hear it is fixed; quick response too. Will you be uploading the new version soon? I'll try it again at some point.
Useful fact about heART: pressing "F4" resizes the window, which I learned when I pressed alt-F4 to quit the game because I had gotten tired of squinting at it. Now I just need to figure out how to actually quit the game...
...OK, actually, heART is having more problems than I thought at first. When I die, in spite of having hit a "save" point, I'm returned to the title screen, where my only option is "new adventure". Should there be a "continue" option? "Restore"? "Quit"? Anything?
...crud. My apologies, and I wish I could delete the previous comment. Another helpful hint to heART players: the arrow keys on the title screen change the option given. (I thought it was just an option in ; I didn't realize that meant "press left and right to change what you're seeing").
Thanks for being on top of things with bug fixes, Ed.
I gave heART another try and was indeed able to backtrack without glitches. But it is possible to ever get to that first chest in the first area? My jump ability is as good as it gets (I assume; levelling up to level 12 brought no additional improvements), and there's still a ledge in the first level that I can almost-but-not-quite make it back up. Is there any way to get back up there?
Controls for heART were fairly standard if you've played home-made RPGs before, otherwise here is a helpful spoiler:
Main Menu: Left and Right arrows to change selected option, Z to select, X to go back.
F4 resizes window.
To quit: [Esc] to Main Menu, then select Quit from the Main Menu. heART does not like being terminated by the Task Manager!
Game: Arrow keys to move, Z to jump, F1 for help screen. Other functions explained in-game.
I'm stuck in heART. I fell down at the beginning, and I went through the underwater cave but now I can't get back up!
@Neddo
The game is fully finished and will not receive more updates unless I receive more "you should fix or add this" comments. However, I updated it again. I played through and realized it was impossible to get back up, so I added an extra block so it's NOW possible once you get the double jump & the height increase.
Just so everyone knows, "Brutally Unfair Tactics Totally Ok Now" is
NOT brutally unfair and is actually a nice game.
I was able to finish it, I think, but the ending was kindy weird.
But I was unable to figure out the clues given.
Anyone else finish it and figure it out?
clue1: "what is purple, and at the same time not purple? brutallyunfairtactics.com/x/y/"
clue2: something about don't worry about the color. and its a verb.
Awesome, thanks Ed! I really appreciate that you're listening to people who play your game and taking into thought the things they say.
Now, according to the review, heART has four endings... has anyone found all of them? I've gotten two so far.
The first time I collected the Doll and as many hearts as I could, and the second time I also found the Ring. Both times I got the same ending:
You find Saera, and she professes her love for you. The end.
The next time I played, I avoided as many hearts as I could (I think I ended up with 5) and did not get the Doll or the Ring. This ending was not as happy.
Saera has been sacrificed by a mysterious shadowy character.
Anybody get anything else?
@Neddo
Those were the endings that most people will get. However the middle endings are for the people whocan collect objects but only get say 100 hearts, and only a few objects/level
Thanks for featuring John Cube! :)
