JIG on AOTS!

Comments (62) | Views (6,443)

BIG LOVE for the folks over at G4TV for giving us a mention in their latest Attack of the Show (AOTS) Blog Watch feature! Wooty tooty!

Congrats!

Although I must say I'm sad that the feature's few shots of the site showed almost exclusively Jay's coverage of commercial games, which is really not what this site is all about. I guess.

Just a quick note, you said it's "Attack of the Show (ATOS)", but the acronym should be AOTS. Unless the video is wrong. Attack the of Show!

Who can find those gnomes in under a minute? That's right. Me.

Reply

They showed scenes from "gnomes" and "canopy", but when they showed the site the camera somehow focused on "casual download", "spore", and most prominently "Virtual Villagers".

If this was my first glance at Jay is Games, I would have thoughz the site is mainly about reviewing casual download games, not free Flash games.

Reply

Awesome. i wonder how big of a spike in traffic there will be?

Reply

They showcased the new layout ^_^ Congrats to Jay and team!

And they even had a little bit of The Last Canopy too.

Wooty tooty \^o^/

Reply

Gratz on being mentioned :) Cool little video.

Reply

Congratulations! Though it was slightly surreal watching it without sound... could some post a general synopsis of what they are saying about the site? I'm quite interested!

Reply

Woohoo, Very Big Congratulations Jay! :D Now you know that this site is really great ! ;)

Reply

THE VIDEO YOU ARE TRYING TO WATCH IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON.

Jay, did you've seen this?

Reply

Yep, I've had the same experience as adikorzeniowski :(

Happened recently to some other sites from over the ocean (I'm in Europe), videos suddenly becoming unavailable in much of Europe - there might be something?

Still, congrats, Jay! Well deserved, I must say.

Reply

Yay! \o/

JIG's being featured, the great Hazmer commenting on it, what else could we want for the site? =D

I've not had problems with the video yet, and i'm in Germany. I could imagine that it's just a temporay problem with traffic spikes.

Reply

That was awesome! Pretty substantial mention, too. A couple of my own recent reviews (links) visible on the page too, I'm loving it! ;) lol...

That's cool. Hope the site gets more traffic.

We don't get that show here (UK) but I've heard of it before.

Reply

lol, JIG, helping guys everywhere impress the ladies! XDDD

and just so you know jay, THIS lady has long been impressed with the way this site has grown and prospered!

Still unavailable here in Hungary :(

Wow... The comments are informing as to how international the site really is...

Reply

Congrats Jay! That is well deserved recognition for the great job that all of the JIG team do.

Next stop Spike TV awards???

Congrats! Now please fix all this white background on this site... makes me uneasy.

Reply

I have long wondered why I never saw JIG on AOTS...and of course when I am not watching, you're there!! Congrats! I can't wait to see the video. The link was taking a long to time load on the homepage, so I came straight in to the discussion.

Of course, it isn't our wonderful Jay and team or the community here who are at fault if the AOTS folks focused on the commercial games--they are ALL ABOUT commercial games on that show, just trying to hide it by being so (pop) culturally forward. They do what they get paid to do.

Still, it really seems to be a mark of having made it in the gaming world and I'm THRILLED for you/us!

I'd say it's about damn time JiG gets mentioned on such a show too! It's awesomeness needs to be spread around the world. ^^

And personally, I was very satisfied with the games they chose for the video. Doggnation, The Last Canopy and 10 Gnomes, all great games by great developers, and to me, cream of the crop.

I'm especially happy for Wan though, he truly IMO deserves some recognition, and he got a little bit here. So congrats, Wan. ^^

W00T!!!!!

I'm suprised they got the new layout in...

Jay... Did you know that they were doing this before it came out?

ThemePark June 26, 2008 10:33 AM

Plus I wouldn't say AOTS focused on downloadable games. They show different parts of the site, one being the Casual Game Downloads on the left, another being the latest reviews. Of course you can't see from the archive list if a game is Flash or download in that one second it's shown, but they do mention Flash games when they talk about walkthroughs.

So I'd say they made a well focused mention of the site.

I love attack of the show and didn't see anything commercial about it. I believe they showed that we (the jayisgames community)cover all sides of online gaming. Also too jay you should tell us how much the site traffic has boosted.

Reply

Nice one JIG crew! First a mention in Edge then this. We think you rock. The world shall follow!!

Reply

I do love G4. Hopefully there'll be quite a bit more traffic headed your way, Jay! I have high hopes for this site, good luck!!!

Yay for Jay and Jig!!

Wow JIG is a celeb, a high roller in the exclusive life of a website. It has fans and reporters waiting outside the gates to its billion dollar mansion in Monte Carlo hoping to get a glimpse or a picture for the newspapers of it bringing in the milk in the morning. It travels around in a stretch limo 60 yards long sitting in the cars indoor jacuzzi eating caviar off the belly of miss world wide web 2008. Nickleback are rumoured to be releasing a single later this year called "Website" inspired by the fame and fortune of JIG and the wishes of other everyday websites to one day be as revered by millions. Yaaaay Go JIG lol.

So funny, sillybuttons...now I want to make a flash movie of JIG and his fabulous lifestyle.

Uh oh, I sense a traffic overload coming on.

Reply

Wow. AOTS is usually just sex advice and beer ads, I never knew that they could do some good for the gaming community before.

Reply

Thomas: Don't call me great XD I really feel guilty for not commenting here often, but life has been crazy busy lately :S

ThemePark: Thanks :) Say, could you drop me an email? It would be an honor if you could, well, test stuff ;)

impressive news

Reply

Wow, my favorite show featured my favorite website. Good going JIG team!

And to defend the show a little from Max: it really is my primary (and I think legitimate) source of gaming and tech news - as well as a great filter of viral internet videos. They're not all business by any means, though.

Reply

Pretty cool. Looks like you guys got the website redesign out just in time!

Reply

Just to let you know, the episode was broadcast in Australia. I caught it this morning. They had these little factoids underneath (line breaks kept for authenticity):

Jay is Games was created on April
19, 2003 and was originally a
personal blog for founder Jay Bibby.
==
Jay is Games is infamous for
their game design competitions.
Winners receive cash prizes.

Reply

That had to have been an error on their part. a lot of people confuse infamous with famous. Up to the ninth grade i thought the same thing. Also too infamous can mean notorious which can mean "publicly or generally known, as for a particular trait" - dictionary.com. That is probably their meaning.

Reply

100% certain Jay. In fact, I just re-checked it now for you and that is what it says, "infamous".

Reply

APPLAUSE!!
Cheers to a job well done by an awesome crew!
You've come a long way. My personal favorite part of this site (besides all of it) is the Casual Game Design Contests for the awesome opportunities & prizes they offer. Hope the AOTS blurb brings in a ton of supporters.
Ab Fab work guys!

Héhé.. bravo!

At least, some one mention it "on the air"..

GG Jay.. :p

Dude was that really Mateusz Skutnik commenting up there? The real Mateusz "Submachine" Skutnik? Oh wow now im totally starstruck. I've turned into a giggling schoolgirl. He's like.... my hero.... I wish I had an e-pen and e-paper for e-autographs. Hi Mateusz.

Reply

Aw, thanks Hazmer. :) Congratulations on having Last Canopy shown so prominently, it absolutely deserves it! I can't wait to see what you come out with next...

Congrats as well to you, Mateusz. I do loves me some sweet gnome action. :)

Reply

Also, in terms of the famous/infamous debate...I kinda like having JIG being known as infamous, actually. It makes me think of an oil baron twirling his moustaches, grandly but evilly planning flash game competitions....to TAKE OVER THE WORLD. Nice.

Of course, that's just me and my weird head.

I saw It on tv I was like sweet they show jayisgames.com
