10 Gnomes in Venice

DoraMateusz Skutnik takes us on another gorgeous photographic stroll with 10 Gnomes in Venice, the latest in his popular series of point-and-click puzzle 10 Gnomes games. As the title implies, there are ten tiny gnomes hidden throughout the streets, nooks, and crannies of Venice, and finding them all will require scouring every inch. All you have to do to play is click to travel and look around... your cursor will always change when there's a place you can move to or zoom in on. The gnomes are small, so don't expect to see any clear sign they're hiding somewhere gnome'in' it up. There are no items to collect or puzzles to solve beyond where the gnomes themselves are, so click everywhere and leave no stone or picturesque street unturned. Just don't spend too much time admiring the scenery, because there is a ten minute time limit and if it runs out, you'll have to try again from the beginning.

Like the rest of the series, 10 Gnomes in Venice is almost less about the objective and more about the journey, and thanks to Mateusz's crisp photography, it's a pretty darned lovely journey at that. Navigation can be a little hard, or at least keeping track of where you are and where you've been can be, since the myriad of different photo angles and areas are a little overwhelming. The time limit sort of hinders the lazy, meandering atmosphere the visuals encourage, but it's hard not to get sucked into admiring everything even under the gun since there are so many details to take in. 10 Gnomes in Venice is simple, sure, but also simply beautiful, a visual love letter to its locale, and is the perfect way to unwind and go beyond your office chair.

I have never been good at these. :/ 6 Gnomes and a troll for me

Many of the Gnome games and most especially this one make me long for a ‘relaxed mode’ option which would allow me to stroll through picturesque Venice for more than 10 minutes at a time. (Yes, I watched the video!)

So far I have found...

- Middle section of the gondola (banana-shaped boat), From the 1st scene, go right.
- In bushes near the stacked metal chairs.
On the Bridge...
- On the domed building on the far side of the river.
- Right-middle stripped post of the bridge is a Troll.
After crossing the bridge...
- In the door intercom.
- Round window (with toy sail boats).

I love these games. They make me want to go find my camera and take photos again. I don't like the timer. Its hard enough to find them without a time limit.

Is the purpose of the timer to extend the game? I deplore the timer for what ever reason it exists. Surely would have been so much more relaxed and enjoyable, for me, without it.

After three playthroughs I located all the gnomes. Good game.

Tip:

When you cross the bridge look to the right to see a viewpoint of a tower. In the tower you will find a gnome. If you have found everyone on the first side of the bridge this should be gnome number 5.

As much as I love Skutnik and having replayed all of his games countless times, I can't help but wish for an option to remove the timer for those of us who want to take our time. Still love it though.

i dont remember the other gnome games having time limits? i really wanted to enjoy this as pastel games is my favourite game studio.... but i felt the time limit really detracted from the enjoyment of the game. would have liked to wander around hunting for gnomes at my leisure.

Put me down as another wishing a no-timer option.

10 Gnomes has always had a timer. Wouldn't be the same game (or really, much of a game) without it.

I got up to 9 gnomes plus a troll. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to try again.
