Best of 2010 (Top 5):
ViricideFrom the creator of The Company of Myself comes an arena shooter with a surprisingly deep message at its core, offering food for thought alongside fast-paced gameplay. EXADI is a highly advanced artificial intelligence who needs your help to recover her systems after the assault of a particularly nasty virus. But where did the virus come from? And just what makes someone human anyway?

Bubble Tanks 3Bubble Tanks 3 takes the series to new heights by combining the best of the Bubble Tanks core gameplay with the customizing features from Bubble Tanks Arenas. The result is a solid sequel to a very popular Flash game series that's a lot of fun to play. The campaign is solid, the user-created tanks keep things fresh and the enemy editor is a ton of fun and will keep this version of the game living for a long time to come.

GunbotGunbot is a platformer/shooter from Berzerk Studio where you'll do the usual robot stuff, like collecting stars and shooting dinosaurs. As you take down enemies you'll get experience to level up with, and you'll gain skills like double jump or firebomb. Your foes also drop money which you'll use to buy guns. Gunbot has pretty much everything you could ask for. It's funny, the difficulty increases smoothly and the gameplay is fun.

Pixel PurgeThe fictional land of Pixela-RT witnessed years of prosperity. Now, a dark portal spews forth endless waves of Space Invaders inspired monsters intent on destroying all that is good and pixely. Luckily, volunteers from across the land take to the sky in small white spaceships to fend off the menace. Endless waves of enemies face down your small white ship on an apocalyptic top-down battlefield in this arena shooter from Epic Shadow.

Wizard's RunFor those of you thinking your prayers for a fantasy-themed game based on the classic novel and movie "Logan's Run" have been answered, you'll have to keep waiting. Wizard's Run is, however, based on the concept of wizards combined with the concept of movement towards things and with an overall killing things theme.

Hostage Crisis didn't make it ;-(

Ah, well. Viricide was good, but Hostage Crisis truly was one of the top 5 games of 2010 for me. So hilariously manly. I love blowing up walls with radio bombs ^^

It's a shame that there were so many great shooters, Starmageddon and Wings of Ge.Ne.Sis deserved an honorable mention imo.
