JayGuest HouseFrom GUMP, the creator of Rental House comes another well-produced, point-and-click, room escape game.

Guest House puts you in a similar situation as most games of its type: click the mouse to select items; double-click to examine items in your inventory. Once you begin to move about the room and examine the various items and objects that await your puzzle-solving skills you will see that this is no ordinary room escape game.

Like his previous efforts, GUMP's latest escape game has a nice Viridian Room feel to it, both in style and quality. The only thing missing is a little narrative to thread everything together.

Cheers to Megaera for the alert about this new release. =)

  35. Repeat on the next can of drink too. Make sure they are both open at this point.

  36. Open the can of oxygen the same way you opened the cans of energy drinks.

  37. View the plastic hose in your inventory by double clicking it.

Guest House Walkthrough:

  1. Wow... that opening was pretty spectacular. This room appears to be all wired up to that big pod in the middle.... hmmm..... None of those buttons seem to work... looks like we're going to need some power! Let's start by going left and clicking by the side of the vending machine. Pick up the weird looking puzzle piece.

  2. Left again and open the panel. A crab?! Hmm... well there's a key there as well so grab that.

  3. Left twice again to that big rectangular locked panel. Use the blue key to open it and grab the green book. Now that you've done that though you can see some weird shapes in the panel box. One of which looks like that piece we just picked up. Drop it in there! Ah... there's that crab...

  4. Open the book. Weird numbers and symbols... ok... let's check out the safe immediately to the left. Ah! The same weird numbers and symbols! Work out the code... it changes every time I think. Take everything in the safe: a red key, some kind of muzzle and another puzzle piece! Drop it in the panel box.

  5. While you're there use the red key to open the locked door and take the Oxygen (when it opens in your inventory take off the lid), the puzzle piece, and the rubber hosing (on the top shelf). Also take note of that sign on the door....

  6. Head right, open the panel and take the final piece! Drop both of the remaining pieces in the panel box and then take a little walk... (the following was specific to my game... it changes every time)

  7. We already know that spike, flat, spike = 20 (on the locker door).

  8. Head left and click by the back of the pod: flat, flat, flat =

  • While you're by the pod, turn left and open the fuse box (the lower panel): flat, spike, flat = 21.

  • Finally, turn left twice and zoom in one that scrawl to the left of the door: spike, spike, spike = 14! We're done!

  • Go back to the panel and you should be able to work out what each symbol is worth numerically starting from the top and working your way down. It's different every time but once you've done it, head out and put the right number in all the panels round the room.

  • Head back to the pod. The light should be blinking blue. Press the button to open it.

  • Ah! There's been someone sleeping here all along! She doesn't look too good though. Without restoring her vitals and getting her some oxygen she's going to die. Helpfully, she's holding some money in her right hand. Whilst you're here grab the fuse by her head.

  • Turn left and click on the top of the fuse box. There's another coin here! Drop them both in the vending machine and grab both cans of energy drink. Open them and give them to the girl one by one. Whilst you're here, connect the hose to the mask and attach them to the pipe/girl.

  • Let's look at the oxygen panel above the pod. Open the panel on the bottom left and put the oxygen can in.

  • Turn left, open the fuse box and place the fuse in.

  • Come back to the oxygen panel and press the button. Check inside: she's stable.

  • Which is just as well because we need two people to pull the levers which opens the door. Head right, open the panel with the blue lever (it's the one on the left) and pull it for the end sequence.

Took a few refreshes to get it to load, just for a heads up. I'm looking forward to exploring this one. The puzzles are really mind working, which makes me happy.

Not doing too bad on my own (some nice little math problems here)--I'm stuck on what to do with the energy drink, though...

Wait a minute, wait a minute, is it me or are the signs related to Zelda by any chance?

There's the shield symbol, Goron's symbol, Shiek's little sign doodad and the setting for Zora's Sapphire?

So me or am I just playing to much nowadays?

    Okay, I'm officially stymied.

I've got the oxygen pump going on the girl and I've given her the yellow energy drink. I just can't figure out where another coin is to get the blue one.

Bleh, never mind. I'm stuck with Rex.

Me too, can't find anything else to do. maybe something more from the book? some hidden compartment? or do we have to restart because we used the yellow liquid wrong?

Never mind, found it. And I was right, it was a pixel hunt.

It's on top of the fuse box. You have to find JUST the right spot to get the camera angle to shift

    Re the other coin:

It's on top of the box with the number for the Square Triangle Square shape.

I have to admit, this is my biggest complaint about point-and-click/room escape games: while they mayhave great puzzling componants, like this game, they rely too much on that pesky little pixel, and rarely does it exist in a logical place. Hide and go seek makes sense, but pixel hunting, not so much so.

    Second coin

Hmm...well, the comment about the pixel hunting is mine. I don't know why, but my typekey didn't work, so it is/will be anonymous.

    What fuse? And there's a 1st coin?

I know about the coin on the fuse box. I entered the #s into the wall boxes, I'm sure they're correct because they add up. I got the gas mask & attached the hose. I have the book (which I used and can't open anymore). And I put the oxygen in the compartment. I used a coin to get a blue soda which I opened.

I notice this game has a save function. But what if you do something out of order by accident and want to start over? You gotta go hunt the cookie down?

I'm sorry, but the walkthrough codes changes every time the game is played. SO the code that were given above do not solve the puzzle. Math is the only way to figure the codes. The rest of the clues to find the object DOES help a lot.

A simple yet effective game, although

I gave the Energy Z drinks to the lady before turning on the dialysis machine, which makes no sense whatsoever.

    Reply

Some of you seem to be confused on the 4 boxes that you can put a single digit number into.

you need to find the 4 objects that have 3 squares or triangles (or some combo there of) on the left side. Also hidden around the room are numbers that correspond to these objects.

if you open the box to the right of the door, you can place these for objects. Doing so gives you a 4 symbol sequence, corresponding to the 4 symbols in the boxes at each corner of the room.
Therefore, each symbol must be a number. Also recall that the shapes have a number . . . .

sum up the symbols to determine what the number of each symbol is. This seems to change from game to game, but it works the same way each time
For example, if you have 4 of one symbol, and the shape is 12, then that symbol must be 3. (3+3+3+3=12)
Once you have one such as that, use that to find the others. (IE if you have X+X+Y+Y=18, and you know X=3, then 3+3+Y+Y=18, 6+Y+Y=18, Y+Y=12 . . . Y=6. You now know 2 of the symbols, and can use them to find the next, and then the next.
You will need to find all 4 of the objects, and all 4 of the numbers that go with them.

SHEESH! I would be so lost without walkthroughs! Guess I'm just dense! It's not so much the puzzles, as the frustrating pixel hunting. I'd much rather figure out a puzzle than frantically click all over the screen!

    Reply

I was never good at math, but I'm getting better at logic puzzles. Thanks to games like this, I tend to instinctively click behind or on top of anything I find. They weren't really pixel clicks so much as hidden areas you'd need to click all over the screen to find. A suitably paranoid attitude helps with such things.

I enjoyed the music and puzzles, but I keep thinking that there are some sci-fi references in there I'm just not getting.

    Reply

If you can't find a pesky pixel, pressing the tab key will generally help

    Reply

Yay I got it! Pretty easy if I can get it with little help. I'm so bad at these, but I still love them. Only needed help with

    Great game though!

    Very funny! I have no escape # . . .

does this mean I didn't get out?

Fun! The pixel hunt for the second coin was the only hint I needed. Other than that, very satisfying.

    Here is the final solution:

    1. Look behind the machine and write down dthe number at the square-square-square piece (17).

    2. Look near the white door on the ground and get the number of the triangle-triangle-triangle piece (18).

    3. Look at the left edge box near the white door and get the square-triangle-square piece.

    4. Look atthe right edge near the white door and get the key.

    5. Get the triangle-triangle-triangle piece from the right side of the drink machine.

    6. Open the fuse box and note down the square-triangle-square number (22). Look at the top of the fusebox and get the silver coin.

    7. Use the blue key to open the box on the left of the blue door. Insert the two pieces you have. Symbols will appear.

    8. Go to the number oad and write down the symbols. With the help of the book you found, solve the code and insert it at the number pad (1824). Collect the key, the piece and the mask.

    9. With the red key open the blue door. Get the oxygen bottle, the number of the triangle-square-triangle and the tube.

    10. Insert all pieces in the white box and solve the math equation: eye=2, foot=7, bhazard=4 and bird=9.

    11. Now put all the numbers at the correspondent boxes.

    12. Press the white buttonof the machine. Under the girls hand is the golden coin, left of the pillow is the fuse. Connect the mask to the tube and then to te output near the girl.

    13. Insert the fuse at the fusebox. Remove the protection of the oxygen bottle and insert it at the respirator. Pres the button..

    14. Go to the drink machine, get the two cans, open it and give it to the girl to drink. Remember to put again the mask at the girl. The ECG will turn blue.

    15. Finally go to the interruptor on the left side of the door and pull it. Watch the animation.

and in case you haven't figured it out the four non-egyptian symbols are:

    Goron's Ruby (Triangular One)

    Zora's Sapphire (Bio-Hazard)

    Eye of Truth

    Hyrule Crest (With the bird)

    sorry, I'm a Nintendo freak ^^;

    Reply

This was crazy weird for me, because I love Zelda and I know these symbols by heart, and also because I just mentioned Zelda. 0_o. I litterally whispered "No Way." when I saw the symbols.

    Reply

NOTE: If you are having trouble with the numerical values of the symbols, just be aware that they may be different than what is posted. I decided to play this game again (because it was so great) and the values of the symbols were different from the first time I had played. I don't know if they were different because I had already played once or if they are different for everyone. Have fun!

I have escape code 12702, but how can I use it. can I get a special end sequence?

    Reply

A comment in regards to the walkthrough(s) posted so far: the number codes are random and will change each time you play the game. Thus:

    For the safe:

The symbols in the green book match the digits on the right page. There's no maths involved. Just compare the symbols from the safe to the ones in the book to find the appropriate digits.

    And for the jigsaw pieces:

This one does involve some basic maths. Find all the pieces, put them into their box and you'll get four equations. In my case, I got:

    • a + a + a + a = 20

    • a + b + a + b = 14

    • c + c + a + b = 19

    • a + b + c + d = 21

(where a is the eye-and-tear, b is the triangles, c is the biohazard sign and d would be the bird - but your mileage may vary.)
    You can solve this type of problem by starting with the equation that contains the fewest symbols (variables), here: 4*a = 20, thus a = 5. By inserting this result into the next equation, you get: 5 + b + 5 + b = 10 + 2*b = 14 or 2*b = 4 or b = 2. The values of c and d are found similarily.

    I really like the

sheer number of doors at the end. It made me wonder if, somewhere in this weird little reality that the author created, somebody had escaped by breaking a door through much effort, only to face another and another and another. it made it (slightly) more realistic for me.

    Reply

the only down point here is that there was indeed too much pixel hunt... very unecessary, but i did liked the ending

the way they connected the player and the girl color with the sodas and the switches, and how the combination 'opened all the doors'.. kinda pretty..

    Reply

Gaaah I finished with just the one hint to figure out where the 2nd coin was. Otherwise I did everything else by myself. The pixel hunting is my biggest gripe about this game and other games like it (where the cursor doesn't change to show you a pixel of interest).

My escapce squence was 13419. I think it's just how many times it's been solved?

I strongly disapprove the three unnecessary pixel hunts. To be fair, the first two aren't essential to finishing the game, but the third - and most irritating one - is quite a showstopper.

However, the game is still quite lovely. I love the clean sterile-looking graphics and the ambiguous ending. Still, for the future - please, more puzzles, fewer invisible hot spots. Thank you.

    Reply

Must say, I enjoyed this one. Not too challenging - the math puzzle was a fun change from other point-n-clicks - was able to solve quickly.

This one was great - the first one of these that I've managed to beat without a guide (well, except for one tiny little pixel hunt part).

I usually don't like escape-the-room games, but this one was great. It actually made sense!

Yes. A hit. Very cool. Not too difficult and full of interest, especially when the girl is revealed. It's nice to be put in a position where you know you can help her. The music is perfect. I felt a deep sense of satisfaction when I realised I was going to wake her, followed by a sense of jealousy when 'another' man appeared! (I know it's supposed to be me). Congratulations.

Escape number 16613 and I used only one hint! Through my thorough addiction to these point n click and escape games I think I am actually getting - well if not good, at least adequate at this!

The pixel hunting can be frustrating, it's nice when there are enough visual clues to deduce instead of just random clicking. And I liked that in this game the puzzles were intuitive enough that I didn't need to make notes.

Love the mood and style of this game. But I love them all and hope they keep on coming out! Hmmmmm, I wonder what M Skutnik is up to these days...

the way to do it is

Go left and click on top of the small box on the wall, get silver coin. Then, open the small box and write down the shape and number, you'll need it later. Use coin on vending machine and get blue drink. also, click on the floor on the left side next to the vending machine and get a blue puzzle piece
go right and click on the left side behind the cabine (on the floor), write the shape and number down
go right twice and open the large box on the wall, get puzzle piece
then click near the floor on the wall and write down the shape and number
go right, click the large box on the wall and get a blue key
go left twice and use key on the largest box on the wall and get a green book
go back and click the safe. use the green book to get the code. Each hieroglyphic stands for a number. use code to open the safe and get mouth piece (mask), red key and a puzzle piece.
use the red key on the door and get an aerosol with O2, a puzzle piece and a tube. combine the tube with the mask / mouth piece and don't forget to write down the shape and number
now open the largest box on the wall and put in the puzzle pieces and solve the puzzle. it isn't very hard, just start on top and then work down to discover the numbers. it might be helpfull to write down the number which goes with which symbol.
go around the room and put in the numbers in the boxes on the wall and you should be able to get in the cabine, but first, open the box above the cabine and put in the aerosol with O2 (make sure you opened the aerosol first)
now open the cabine by pressing the button next to the blue light, and get the gold coin from between the girls fingers and get a small tube from the left side, next to her head. Open the blue can and give it to the girl. Leave the cabine
get the yellow drink from the vending machine and give this to the girl as well, than put the mask on her and leave the cabine
open the smallest box and put the tube in. now go to the box next to it (on the right) and press the button.
now go left 3 times and click the blue handle on the left side on the door. enjoy the ending:)

    Regarding the

    math for the codes,
I'm not sure it did it right.

Being new to this online fun and even newer at game forums (this is my first post ever) I'm not sure where the line is for spoiler info...even if marked "spoiler". Would it be ok to share how I did

the math specifically...if it's labeled as a spoiler?

I'll wait to hear before asking my question. I think I must have done something wrong, but just in case I was accidentally brilliant, I don't want to spoil more than I should.

    MATH HELP
here is my method for solving the symbols, you need to know basic algebra to do this.

first, go around and find the spots where you can find out what each piece equals.
    check (spoiler alert)

    • the back of the door of the coat closet where you get the oxygen tank, hose and mask.

    • the back of the fusebox cover.

    • behind the bed-machine on the left side, down on the floor.

    • on the bottom of the wall by the left-hand switchbox, about a third of the way over from the left side of the game window

    write all that down,

then go to the big box on the wall (assuming you have found all the pieces).
match the pieces with the holes, and sets of symbols appear. and now for the algebra. i am going to use my set of answers as an example, showing you how i got them by putting what i did beside each step, your numbers/mileage may vary.
starting with the top set, i got:
gemini+gemini+gemini+gemini=triangle, square, triangle=8. since we don't know what gemini equals, replace it with an "x" like so: x+x+x+x=8
and now, we solve for x:

    1. x+x+x+x=8

    2. 4x=8 -put the x's together

    3. x=2 -divide both sides by 4

so now we know that gemini equals two.
we can use that information to help us solve the next line of symbols, in my case:
gemini+cancer+gemini+cancer= triangle, triangle, triangle=18, in other terms, 2+x+2+x=18. now to solve.

    1. 2+x+2+x=18

    2. 4+2x=18 -put like terms together

    3. 2x=14 -subtract 4 from each side

    4. x=7 -divide by 2 to get the x by itself.

so now we know that cancer equals 7, and gemini equals 2. knowing this, we can solve the third number puzzle, mine was:
    capricorn+capricorn+gemini+cancer= square, square, square=17, or, x+x+2+7=17. solve.

    1. x+x+2+7=17

    2. 2x+2+7=17 -put x's together

    3. 2x+2=10 -subtract 7

    4. 2x=8 -subtract 2

    5. x=4 -divide by 2

so capricorn equals four, cancer equals seven, and gemini equals two. now we can move on to the final problem, mine was:
cancer+gemini+capricorn+scorpio= square, triangle, square=22. it may look a little hard if you haven't done the ones before, but once you know what the symbols before this one are, you will realize that this one is actually the easiest of the bunch!
    so starting with:
    7+2+4+x=22,
we will now solve for the final number.

    1. 7+2+4+x=22

    2. 2+4+x=15 -subtract 7

    3. 4+x=13 -subtract 2

    4. x=9 -subtract 4

so now, after all that work, we know that scorpio equals nine, capricorn equals four, cancer equals seven, and gemini equals two!

please note that YOUR NUMBERS WILL MOST LIKELY BE DIFFERENT THAN MINE!! /disclaimer

so now that you have the numbers you worked so hard for, it's time to put them to use! go around the room and match the numbers in the boxes in the corners of the room to the symbols, and once you are done, if you see a blue light on the bed-machine, congratulations! if not, go back and check your math to make sure you have not made a mistake, if your math is good, make sure you have the right numbers in the right boxes.

thank you for reading my guide! i hope it helps!

I really liked the music at the beginning and the end. It was so dramatic. Overall, the game was great!

I liked this one, though I still checked two spoilers for pixel hunting parts. I wish room escape games would be less pixel hunting and more logic, because it's a really good game genre. The logical aspect of Guest House was pretty good, albeit a little easy?

    Whoo!! #103317!!

The Zodiac puzzle was what I had the most trouble with. All because I couldn't find the square-square-square piece hint. Once I found it, I was able to determine what numbers the Sagittarius and the Scorpio symbols represented

Everything else was smooth sailing from there

This is the first room escape game i've ever done without looking at hints or walkthorughs :D
I almost peeked when i didn't know what to do.

i knew it had something to do with the wired box, but couldn't figure out what, until i clicked on top and found the coin

but eventually i figured everything out on my own. nicely done game.

    This is really angering me.
    For me:
    flat-flat-flat:19
    point-point-point:14
    flat-point-flat:21
    point-flat-point:20
    That should make:
    Cancer=2
    Gemini=5
    Capricorn=6
    Scorpio=9
    Right?

Best game in this series, hands down! Puzzles were do-able, but not too easy, and I did it with only one hint, an item I had missed...Terminal house is awful, I think it gave me something terminal! lol

Great game. Could use without those pixel hunts though :(
