How to use the flashlight ? I turn the room light off, the flashlight on and ... can't see nothing.

weird ending.
fun to play, not very difficult.

Reply

I had to use the guide for a few things. I just couldn't see

the number in the sphere.

Reply

Nice game, I just have one thing to add to the walkthrough:

The order you put the liquids and the pill into the machine doesn't matter at all. You can even add as much water as you want (I put 4 or 5 glases of water into the machine before I realized that this wouldn't get me anywhere :D )

Reply

I really like the ending.

tripping.

carlos casteneda style.

Reply

had to get help from the walkthrough, thanks~
weird ending~

Reply

step 28 of the walkthrough can be simplified:

pour water over the combined pieces of paper and the start and end point of the "combination" and its orientation are revealed

Reply

Dude, like, what did they drop in my Red Bull!

Reply

Escape 5578...yes! With only one hint...:(
I must say, not as pleasurable as Submachine. Slightly more "fever-clicking" on my poor mouse.

Reply

Wow, quite the ending!
Are we sure this isn't an advergame for a pharmaceutical company. Or maybe a pro-drug-use ad ("Brought to you by the National Councel for the Promotion of Psychotropic Agents (NCPPA)").
In any case, nicely done. The UI felt just a bid clunky at times, but I think that's the fate of most escape-the-room games.

Reply

When I click on the link, the page shows up, but the game doesn't load. It just has a white box.

Reply

Has anyone else surfed the site and found out that this was a sequel to "terminal house"? The URL is in my name. Keep in mind that getting onto the game may be a bit tricky, but Jay's trick works for just about any website.

If I put up a walkthru for that, will I be eligible?

Reply

Erm oops, the game just kicked in and I instantly recognized it as one posted earlier on this site... Oops again. Forgot the URL too, not that it matters at this point. Guess I'll plant it on this one anyway.

Reply

Aloloo - just reload the page (right-click, select reload from the pop-up menu).

I just tried it and I got nothing but the white box, too, just as you said. Then I reloaded, and the game loaded fine.

Seriously, as I mentioned in the review above, there is not a doubt in my mind that the servers hosting this game are receiving an inordinate amount of traffic right now. These types of glitches are to be expected. Have patience and you will get it to load.

Regarding the UI being a bit "clunky", I thought the UI was done exceptionally well. I believe it is a significant improvement over the Terminal House, the precursor to this game, as Mkelican mentions above.

Reply

Wow! Such a fun game! I did it all by myself, but I had to peak at the walkthrough for when u put the things in the machine though.

Reply

Eh. A little too much "find the tiny hotspot at the exact center of the bottom of the safe, since clicking slightly to the side doesn't work" for my taste.

Reply

nj: I agree, but please use the spoiler tag.

Reply

I thought the animation was excellent.

I kind of expect these puzzles to be self-contained - that you can work them out entirely on their own terms - and you don't need to

use google to

find the square number or

happen to know that dart boards have numbers

In the ending, was anyone else reminded of Spirited Away

with the river spirit saying "Well done"? pr not really need a spoiler tag!

Reply

nice, but i definitely preferred submachine.. :D

Reply

How do you combine things?

Reply

Nevermind sorry i saw the walkthrough and found out how.

Reply

I liked it and solved it, but I didn't like the..

Dart board, I had to google it.

Reply

I'm not a big fan of escape-the-room games, and I finally figured out why: it's the whole hunt-the-pixel thing. The reason it bugs me is because I grew up playing text adventures (or "interactive fiction," if you will), and looking behind something was simply a matter of typing it in. Sure, text adventures often suffered from the text analogue of hunt-the-pixel, namely hunt-the-verb, but well-designed games didn't suffer too much. Put me in a text adventure room and I will go crazy picking up and examining every last item mentioned, but put me in one of these graphical rooms and I feel lost.

It is official: I am a dinosaur.

yow: Not sure how you get Spirited Away from that. Just watched it again the other night (fantastic flick, by the way) and the thought never even crossed my mind. Actually, I was more reminded of the water tentacle from The Abyss... of course, now that you mention it, I guess I can see how you got that.

Reply
Hand-E-Food April 30, 2007 10:26 PM

That was good. My only gripe was the pixel hunting for

behind the sink and under the safe.

Aside from that, it was a very well designed puzzle. I love

the unique way you leave the room.

Reply

Man, my character has no idea on how to break out of this room.
1. He isn't even kicking the door particularly hard. He really needs to get his weight behind it and BOOT that thing near the doorknob.
Of course, it's possible that this door is very strong...
2. The door hinges are on THIS SIDE! Just take the pins out and pull the door out of the wall! How could it be easier?

Reply
Dustfinger April 30, 2007 11:20 PM

I hate escape the room games... i am horrible at them, and it makes me feel stupid, even though i get really good grades in school (i'm 13). I have no idea why I'm so horrible at these evil games. I found everything that was obvious, then i clicked around for ten minutes and got really ticked off, then found the

wheel

and got really happy for about five seconds. then I didn't know what the heck to do with it and got really ticked off again and clicked on the walkthrough. why do I suck so much at these games!??

Reply

Oh man, I can definitely see the abyss reference.

Meanwhile, does anyone else completely feel like a red bull or some other energy drink now? I'm off to get one :D

Reply

Suho1004: ah yes, the Abyss.
Hand-E-Food: agreed. I guess as we learn the grammar of puzzles, more techniques need to be added, or else it's too easy? anyway, now I know to

----consider using google when I'm stuck

and

----click *all* the shadows between objects and wall/floor/ceiling

Rulz: games-as-advertisements is an inevitable direction I guess....
JonMW: lol! concept for a casual game? - control a character's run-up and jump at a door, picking the weakest spot! A new "escape" genre :-)

also love the cell-shaded animation of the character. Amazing!

It would be great if it really worked. Imagine. You can do all the searching OR you can think outside the box, and get out with one move. And the game would count the escapees who got out this way.

Walkthruogh correction

You can add the water, blue can, red can and pill in any order.

well im proud that i figured everything out by myself with the exeption to the other half of the paper under the safe. i do find it hard to believe that drinking one energy drink will enable you to kick down a door. Reply

haha, i finally found out where the battery behind the sink is.

So here goes a very litteral write up of finding the battery behind the sink don't read if your bored. Read if you are desperate.

The sink refers to the bottom part, near the floor or the vertical section thats connected to it. The pipe refers to the pipe on the floor not the pipe up the sink, not the pipe anywhere else. When you click on the big pipe on the floor, you will get a zoom animation, then you click behind the "sink". You find a battery behind that vertical section of the sink, within the zoomed in pipe picture/frame

i love these kind of games.I found almost everything but was thinking way to far.the codes in the book for instance; I thought it all had to do with the dartboard,so i tried 15,15,50(the middle is worth 50).It didn't work so then I added everything up and used the other numbers with it 87,36,80...ofcourse that also didn't work.when I found the first number with my flashlight,I thought that that had to do with the code on the piece of paper,so I did 62487.Everytime I was soo close but couldn't have done it without the walkthrough(thanks for that).ok, I am off to the next one...terminal house. Oh, I loved the ending. The guy is everytime locked in a space ship so it all makes sense.

Reply
king arthur December 16, 2007 2:16 PM

terminal house was alot easier then the other ones.
a few hints.

look under the couch.take the camera to take pictures on the screen, use the key in the tiny hole in the wall, put the camera cord in the pc and press enter with the right code :)

.
I am not going to say more because this one is pretty simple...enjoy!

Reply

great game! but that sound that came after the worm thing opening its eyes made me jump 5 feet back

Reply

wow this makes sense now. I played the sequel first, and I thought it was some kind of alien abduction thing, but playing the first installment made the sequal much more fulfilling. X3

it gets the effect behind his head when he drinks the yellow can

and

Standard puzzles, interesting ending, but some of the hiding places required clicking on too small area of the screen, I needed to use the walk-through twice because of that.

Yes! And the game should also count the people who take the flashlight to the vending machine and get their red drink without using the coin - although if I remember correctly the coin was paired with something else that was necessary, I nevertheless felt very tempted to break that glass early on.

I also *almost* reasoned out the code for the safe with only the first of the two "hints".

Reply

fyi - and in case anyone cares... i'm escapee #173449! btw - i ALWAYS check the door first in these games. you know, just in case someone forgot to lock it!!!

Reply

If you dump the yellow soda down the machine, as you did with other 2 drinks, the pill and the water, the door does not open. There is nothing left to do and you are trapped for infinity. AAARRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
