DoraZoo TransportAh, the trucker. Ah, the penguin. Two of nature's most noble beasts, and yet rarely do the two ever meet. At least, until now. That's right, kids, it's Zoo Transport from Tanoku, the physics game where you use your flippers to load your big red truck up with animals set for delivery to the nearest zoo. Oh, and I wouldn't give that penguin any lip if I were you. He doesn't look like he's slept in days. It's a lonely road, that of the trucker penguin. I think Willie Nelson wrote a song about it.

Stack your crates on the truck bed with the mouse, and use the [arrow] keys to drive forward and back. The goal is to transport all crated beasties safely to the zoo entrance; if any of them fall off due to uneven terrain or bad driving, you'll need to go back to the loading docks and pick them up again. Getting the animals from point A to point B is a bigger challenge for some than for others, since certain animals are in bigger or smaller crates, or have certain requirements for the method of transport. You can see the required number of crates you have to deliver at the top of the screen. Unfortunately, you can't drop off more troublesome creatures and then go back for the others; it's all or nothing, baby, and arriving at the gates without all your animals will cause you to fail the level.

Zoo TransportAnalysis: Who transports live animals these days without some bungee cords to tie the containers down anyway? Moreover, who decided penguins were safe behind the wheel? Everyone knows koalas score the highest on driver safety tests. Unfortunately, Zoo Transport's physics obey a cruel and fickle mistress of fate, and stacking your deliverables is often more finicky than it needs to be. The game winds up moving at a glacial pace more often than not as you slowly inch forward over hazardous terrain; more than once a crate that was only hanging on to the truck with a wish and a prayer tipped off inches from the finish line, forcing me to go all the way back for it.

Still, it's an interesting take on the physics puzzle. The different animals, each with their own criteria for movement, present different challenges and keep you from just blasting over the terrain, General Lee style, and it's all presented with bright, cheerful visuals. More than a steady hand, Zoo Transport requires patience. If you like a challenge, Zoo Transport may be for you. Just remember to keep one foot on the brakes, and one eye on the monkeys at all times. Oh, and can you pick me up a crate of tigers while you're out? I'm almost out.

Well, the terrain is giving me a hard time... I tried 7 times with the first monkey box to get to the stop area...

Parrots can fly, but when they stop, they have zero momentum, and fall straight down. meanwhile, your vehicle has lots of momentum, so if you're following it in the manner of the real world, you'll miss. That strikes me as poor implementation.

Is the one with the monkey and turtle even possible? The monkey keeps falling off.

Great concept - but the implementation is just not fun. The friction needs to be significantly higher. What's the truck bed lined with, oil? The vehicle control a little more stable (it jumps off from a stop, but stopping is slow?)

Also, once again, this is another physics game that suffers from spinning box problem. They don't make the level harder in a meaningful way, just less fun. The rotational forces on a box just don't work that way. Picking a box up from anywhere in the center-top area shouldn't make it swing like crazy whenever you move the mouse. Where the mouse "holds" the item should add friction, to make it harder to spin.

It's too bad, because I really like the idea.

(Also, a tiny tailgate would go a long way to making it more fun. At least then the items wouldn't slide off at the slightest movement.)

I quite like these little physics games. Quick to pick up and fun to play, and I love the simple artwork and animations. Especially love the way the penguine looks over his shoulder as he reverses.

I have a great idea: rather than making us use the mouse, or the hand we use the mouse with, to move, you should be able to use your left hand and wasd. I mean honestly, there's no reason not to code it for both considering it takes like 0 more work.

I can't play it, the resolution is all wrong for the window. I can't see the truck and only the top of the boxes. Shame, it looked like fun.

Cant get past lvl 11

Fun :) it just takes a bit of patience until you get into it.(2 hard levs. or so).
The difficulty increase is about right.
It's mostly about arrangement and often animal kind isn't THAT important.

Yes, the physic system could be better but you learn how to handle around it. (Kinda fun even). :P

Tips:

Trap the parrots under boxes. (later levels more)
The wasp can be used to stabilize boxes.

Level 38 39 took a couple of retrys. :D

Absolutely terrible. The physics is all wrong, they all have the game weight (an elephant is heavier than a parrot).

@Gabi
Achievement-Hunting lodger (mouse over says)..

"Flying parrot impact an object"
Maybe object is cave roof or falling boulder or wasp (or maybe another crate).

Reply

Thanks a lot Tobberian! For Hunting Lodger achievement you just need to

have a flying parrot hit a moving object -- easily done in level 29 by having one of your parrots hit a bee.
