Weekday Escape

DoraRecurring themes and connected imagery? Who needs 'em! This edition of Weekday Escape has a satisfyingly random assortment of games by different developers that are all very different in tone and setting. Vitamin Hana, for instance, is all about putting you to work, while Esklavos gets involved with some seriously weird science, and Twinkle offers up some seasonal ghoulishness heavily filtered through cute.

Day at the Office AgainDay at the Office Again - Ugh... work, who needs it? Vitamin Hana, I though you were our friend! We're back to the rat race of office work again, but at least nobody is making us go to meetings or microwaving their fishy lunches. Still, you probably want to go home, so make sure you hunt everywhere and turn over every proverbial rock, because some of these interactive spots are tricky!

Trick or Treat '15Trick or Treat '15 - [Note: Cartoon gore.] We will not be bound by your arbitrary calendar year! Twinkle will celebrate Halloween whenever they wish! Use the ghosts in the top left and right corners to navigate around this spooooooky scene, and find all the items you ultimately need to escape... which of course includes lots of candy, pumpkins, and ghouls! Unfortunately, this game is a little buggy, so here's a tip to avoid restarting... take the bandage immediately when you find it!

Organic EngineOrganic Engine Escape - Esklavos tends to make some pretty trippy but lovely games, and this one adds "mildly creepy" to the list as you find yourself trapped somewhere with unsettling robotic mannequin ladies. Don't worry, there's no menace to be had. Just look around for the tools and clues you need to crack codes, solve puzzles, and escape through the magic door, presumably juuuuuuust missing The Doctor, because this totally looks like his jam.

We love escape games, and our readers love talking about them and sharing hints! How about you? Let us know what you think, ask for clues, or help out other players in the comments below.

Trick or Treat '15 has a bug:

Once you open the coffin, if you don't pull the bandage right away it drops off the mummy and it seems to disappear. In my case, I went down to look at the shapes and when I came back up the mummy had undressed itself and I couldn't continue the game.

Same here Rich!

Did the game description have the bug information in it when it was posted? I just noticed it now.

Ah, weekday escape :)

Just wanted to mention that Trick or Treat '15

has two endings, the normal and the perfect one.

After opening the door, don't walk out,

but look at it closely.

You get another number code for the lower cupboard and a golden pumpkin. :)

Yay! \(^_^)/

In A Day At the Office, how does the solution for VIX become

4112 ?

I tried

5110, 0610, 059, and so on. Am I missing some Roman numerals?

You have to keep your eyes out in Organic Engine Escape.

The clues don't always seem so obviously linked to their relevant puzzles.

And when you click on something, there might be a main focus, a clue for a different puzzle AND an item to add to your inventory all in the same place. You just have to notice it.

Clue for the alphabet

I have no idea what they have to do with embryos, but on a few clue/puzzle screens it does mention a company/industry...

The part that I had to consult the walkthrough for Trick or Treat '15

Click on the left side of the fridge. Did not think that would be a clickable spot, considering nothing else was as tricky as say, an Escape Man game.

In case anybody was wondering what it was, those coloured things read "kabocha", which is Japanese for 'pumpkin'.

That makes so much now. I was wondering what they were and thought they were some kind of funky bracelet, since they're similar to some other escape game shape. Duh!

I have no idea, even after watching the walkthrough, but thanks for telling me the answer.

Of course for the last Roman numeral puzzle

You've printed out a sheet telling you what the Roman numerals stand for. How is that helpful now? Why couldn't we get this for the other puzzle that made no sense?!

Look back in the office, which apparently belongs to some sort of gadget-weilding spy. Which item might work well on paper?

Retrieve the pen from the... pen-activated USB lock? and use on the paper for the pretty straightforward clue

And why does the grid have the numbers 1-10 except 8? Was that a clue to the first puzzle?

Reply

I just figured out why that is the answer for the roman numeral drawer in Day at the Office:

Count how many Vs are in the grid by the door, then how many Is, then how many Xs.

But I'm stuck now - don't know where to put the

batteries.

The bug mentioned in Trick or Treat '15 seems very odd to me, as there never was a bug when I played, as soon as this went up. In fact, I tried walking around the room without talking the bandage off the mummy several times, and it always just stayed on the mummy, there for me to take.

baileydonk: The object that needs the

batteries is sitting right behind the object you took them out of (though it'll need some repairs first).

In Trick or Treat, if anyone else is unable to

open the window, try a different browser. It worked for me in Chrome but absolutely refused to do so in Firefox. Weird.

Bailydonk: You must be a genius. Thanks for figuring out the VIX clue.
