Weekday Escape N°211

Weekday Escape Hello escapers! I'd like to inform you that the new WE is out!

Nicolet released the second game for PC, and it's very enjoyable indeed. And clever. Also good looking! After escaping their "cube", tomoLaSiDo locks you in the room with view on endless green field. Then you accept an invitation from Neat Escape's friend, again, and end up trapped in their house. Again. It's your fault, you should've known better. Now you must try hard to get out of here!

Have a good time and enjoy!

Cactus Cube
Cactus Cube

Last week I wished for a new game by Nicolet - and here it is, elegant, smart and well ballanced. That was quick! Small square room where you find yourself is clean and really not overfurnished, you can see only few boxes and some shelves around room walls. And the cacti, of course, big, green and thornless. Can you escape? Could we get another one, please? Soon?
The cursor is not changing, autosave, one ending.

The game is available for Android too.

P.S. For more cacti check Cactus Room by Sanpoman (WE N°122).

Escape Challenge 76: Room with Pencils
<br />
Escape Challenge 76: Room with Pencils<br />

You have to find six capsules in a simple white room by tomoLaSiDo to complete the key and escape, and fourteen pencils to fulfill the side quest. One pencil is usable and other thirteen just for collecting, sometimes you get several together. The escape isn't difficult, and the pinball-like machine isn't demanding on your skills. but can you get all the pencils?

The cursor is changing, no save button, one ending.

Escape from the Living Room

Escape from the Living Room

You might think that after escaping Neat Escape's friend's Condominium to find yourself locked in the Apartment and then in the Guest Room, you would learn to be more cautious about his "invitations". But you're incorrigible and therefore trapped again, this time in stylish living room. French windows are locked, the exit door as well and you need to crack several codes to get out. Remember that one key fits two locks...
The cursor is not changing, autosave plus save button, two endings.

The game is available for Android too.

P.S. If you want to play more games and don't mind download them, here is the inspiration: Microsoft Store offers seven escape games (at the moment) by MediArch (Magodiwa Escape 1 - 7) for free download. These are remakes of their older games, also avalable in Windows Store. I tried the newest one, M.E. MP No.007 and it's a good one. Nice puzzles.

Gumball Saw Game
Gumball Saw Game

Bonus InkaGames's game is quite long adventure in classic style - comical and absurd, with funny dialogues, amusing characters and loads of items.
However, you may get into the situation (and you will very probably) trying everything on everything because some hints are vague or totally missing...but it's fun. The game is just designed to cheer you up.
Switch to English version unless you understand Spanish, watch a short intro and start. Look everywhere, pick up everything you can and talk to everyone. If you have a silly idea, try it anyway. You never know. So, will you rescue your family?
The cursor is changing, autosave (not reliable, try it), one good ending (and many bad ones).

We love escape games, and our readers love talking about them and sharing hints! How about you? Let us know what you think, ask for clues, or help out other players in the comments below.

I brute forced the spinning cactuses. What's the actual clue I should've used?

Any tips for

how to make 7125 into a code that works in the shapes box? I've found three clues about 3s and arrows and other numbers.

Reply

The 7125 is not for the space box. It is for the spinning-cactus-button box

Reply

For the spinning cactuses

At first, I thought it was the direction of the open part of the box that matters. But ...

It's the position of the number on the box, left, right, up, or down. 7 is on the right side of its box, etc.

Reply

In Room with Pencils

For the 4 pencils sticking up out of the box

The box has to be opened to see the whole clue before clicking on the button

Click on the brown rectangle below the pencil tips

Reply

What is that music in Room with Pencils? I'm know I have heard it on another game, and I was thinking maybe one where a boy is reliving his past memories. Any ideas?

I didn't think the green box was that hard!

Cactus Cube

Wow, Nicolet is really producing these fast.

Exploration

Just like last time, you're trapped in a tiny cube but this one has different decor. To the left and right of the door you see a wall safe with four sliders and another wall safe with the puzzle hidden inside: three shaped holes and four square buttons that don't work yet.

Turn right to face the three cacti from the title screen. The right one has a green pencil wedged in it.

Turn right to find four shelves each having two numbered books on them. On the floor, there are four almost-identical red boxes: one locked with six buttons displaying L shapes (you have to click in their middle to get them to rotate), one with a colored four-digit lock, one with a single keyhole and one with a row of four colored squares and a matching row of color buttons.

Turn right to face a green box with both a locked panel with four cactus buttons and a protruding panel secured by screws. On top of it, there are four cactus pots with each pot having a different number and color of flowers.

Numbered colors

Use the clue from the small cactus pots to unlock the second red box from the left.

The cacti with light blue, red, purple, orange flowers have 2, 3, 4, 1 of those flowers.

So enter that in the box and open it to find a wooden triangle piece.

Deflect

Use the clue from the tall cacti to unlock the leftmost red box.

The three cacti have a total of six branches, each extending horizontally from the trunk and then bending towards a vertical direction.

These bends look like the ⌜⌟ ⌞⌟ ⌜⌝ corners, so push the buttons 0, 2, 1, 2, 0, 3 times and then open the box to find a screwdriver.

Unscrew

Use the screwdriver to remove the screw panel on the green box.

You find a red button inside, so push it!

This makes the cactus pots above glow different colors.

Colored colors

Use the clue from the lit cactus pots to unlock the rightmost red box.

Since the colors of the flowers match the squares on the box, all you have to do is copy the colors of the pots onto the box.

Turn the buttons red, blue, orange, purple by clicking them 4, 3, 1, 2 times, then open the box to find a circle piece and a clue with an arrow between two numbers.

Platform

Use the clues from the shelves to unlock the wall box to the left of the door.

From left to right, the shelves are in different vertical positions that are the 1st, 4th, 2nd, 3rd from the top.

So click the sliders 0, 3, 1, 2 times to match, then open the box to find a small key.

Unlock

Use the key to unlock the second red box from the right. Inside, there's a folded blank piece of paper and a clue with two arrows between two numbers.

Unblank

Use the pencil on the paper to reveal a clue with four numbered rectangles.

Flat

Use the clue from the paper and bookshelves to unlock the green box.

The paper shows the correct upright position of books (with the numbers at the bottom), which means that the books numbered 7, 1, 2, 5 on the bookshelves are oriented towards the left, left, down, right.

So click the buttons 1, 1, 2, 3 times to make the (direction of growth of) cacti on the buttons match those directions, and then open the compartment to find a square piece and read another clue with numbers and arrows.

Fit

The only thing left to solve is the wall box to the right of the door. Place all three wooden blocks in the matching holes of the wall.

The buttons activate, so all you need is a four-digit code to enter! Use the remaining clues to figure out that code.

The clue in the green box (9→→→3) tells you that the button numbered 3 is three spaces to the right of that numbered 9. This lets you fill in the first and last digits of the code: 9??3.

Similarly, the clue in the rightmost box tells you that the second-last digit is 2, and the clue in the second box from the right tells you that the second digit is 5.

The final code is 9523. Enter that in the box, and a golden key falls out. Use it to unlock the door and leave!

Escape Challenge 76: Room with Pencils

Even if you never feel a need to erase your work, there are many other uses for pencils.

Exploration

The game begins in classic fashion with you facing a desk in front of a window, with a potted plant by the side. You can take a pencil from the holder on the desk, as well as look at the geometric clue on the piece of paper. The locks on the drawers have three shapes, three digits and three digits, and the top and bottom ones have colored outlines around their buttons.

While looking a the desk, you see the pencil (item) on the left side of the window.

Turn left. On a table, there's a slider device that appears to have four pencils sticking out, but you can click the wooden front of the device to lift it up and see the back ends of the pencils. The wall safe has four round buttons arranged in a square.

Look under the table to find a capsule containing a key piece.

Turn left. Beside the locked exit door, there's a picture which seems to show a four-digit code.

Turn left to find a pinball machine with an unusual design. In case it's not clear yet, you're looking at a highly-abstracted baseball diamond, with the targets at the top labeled "hit", "two base" and "homerun". Flashing lights surround a scoreboard at the top, the switch next to the Play button seems stuck, and the big yellow button on the right swings the bat/flipper. On this screen you also see an empty blue bin and a clock stopped at an inconvenient time, with an clue hidden among its numbers.

Enter the corridor to the toilet, where you can sit down, look right, look up and look left to find a drawing that reenacts what happens when you do really well on a test.

Swing

Let's start with the pinball/baseball minigame. The only thing you can really do is push Play and then hit the right button when the balls get launched.

If you just follow the instructions on the right side and hit the ball into H, 2B and then HB, a mocking face appears on the scoreboard.

Alas, it seems that no amount of skill can get you a better outcome.

However, the light beneath the 2B switch turns on at the end of every game (regardless of the outcome), so flip that switch to make every single target 2B.

Hit those balls anywhere you want (but don't miss), and the right yellow button flashes. So push it again to launch the flipper up. Whoops, the pencil comes loose and smacks the scoreboard with a 6B sound, whatever that is, and the machine awards you the key piece.

Rectangular

Use the clue from the pinball scoreboard to unlock the wall box.

The lights flash in the order ⌝⌝⌟⌟ ⌞⌞⌜⌜ , so push those buttons on the box to open it and find a key piece somehow supported by 3 pencils.

Colored shapes

Use the clue from the paper to unlock the top desk drawer.

The shapes filled in red, yellow and blue are the circle, triangle and square, so click the buttons 0, 1, 2 times and then open the drawer to find a key piece.

Colored numbers

You can use the pencil on the paper, rolling it gently across until it stops.

The sides of the pencil are helpfully numbered, but it doesn't seem very balanced…

But you can still use that clue to unlock the bottom drawer.

When the pencil tip lands in the red, yellow, blue areas, the numbers that show up are 2, 4, 1.

So enter that in the drawer and open it to find a key piece and 2 pencils.

Numeral

You need a three-digit code for the middle drawer but you have a four-digit code on the picture frame. How do you fix that?

Use the pencil to draw over the first 1 to make it a +.

Since the sum now works out to 100, enter that in the drawer and open it to find the last key piece and a pencil.

You're all ready to leave, but there's still more stuff to do and more pencils to find!

Unequal

The four-pencil device needs no additional clues, so solve its puzzle to unlock it.

After lifting the wooden flap, you find that the pencils come in three different lengths: (from left to right) short, long, medium, long.

So click the sliders 0, 2, 1, 2 times, then push the button on the right to loosen the flap the other way, which gets you all 4 pencils.

Underline

Use the clue from the clock to find a hidden spot.

The arrow is positioned just above a brown line under the 9, but that hidden spot isn't on the clock…

It's on the picture frame! Click the bottom edge under the 9s to reveal a hidden compartment containing a pencil.

Now that you finally have everything, leave through the door to end the game.

Item list

6 key pieces:

Top left: in top drawer
Top middle: in middle drawer
Top right: in bottom drawer
Bottom left: in wall box
Bottom middle: in pinball machine
Bottom right: under yellow table

14 pencils:

1 (item) on window
1 in holder
1 in pinball machine
3 in wall box
2 in bottom drawer
1 in middle drawer
4 in pencil device
1 in picture frame

The minimum number of pencils you can leave with is 4.

Escape from the Living Room

On the bright side, every one of your friend's "invitations" usually ends in a nice dinner or something.

Exploration

The large television catches your eye, and you notice the red button beside it. It does turn the TV on, but all that's displayed on screen is an error. Underneath the TV, you see one wooden box with a hole shaped like letters, and another wooden box with a normal keyhole. Closer to you, click the couch to look at it from the front. There's a locked briefcase between two cushions, and the right one hides a clue printed in green on a white card.

While looking at the red button, you find a bolt on the railings behind.

Looking at the windows on the left, you see on the windowsill a box with three colored digit buttons, but the digits on the buttons seem to be mirrored, and also a wooden block with some sort of metal disc mounted on top, with something tiny and colorful sticking out of the middle. (There's also something unusual about the windows, but let's leave it for later.) Clicking the area with the door, you climb up the stairs and can take a closer look at the calendar, locked door and iron bars.

Back out and then turn around to face some locked double doors with some lettering on the wall above. To the left of those doors, you see a small bar with two more wooden boxes, one having a keyhole and one having thin vertical buttons showing thinner horizontal stripes in three positions each. You can also click the left chair there to find a card, and flip that card over to find a clue printed in blue.

While facing the double doors, click the right edge of the screen to face some shelves. There's a high hook-shaped shelf with a box you can't reach, and a magazine rack on the floor that has a wooden sculpture that can be rotated to view all four of its sides. On top of the rack, there's another white clue card but this time the clue is in red. There are more windows on the right, and a white box on the windowsill is bolted shut.

Stripe

To finish up your exploration, notice that the left and right windows on this view have opaque horizontal stripes running across the middle. On closer look, every one of the windows has a stripe (in a different position)! And on even closer look, the same is true for the first set of windows!

You can immediately use these clues to unlock a box. Which one?

The six windows and their stripe positions match the six-slider box on the bar counter.

Across the wall, the windows have stripes in the CUCDUD positions, so set the sliders on the box accordingly and open it to find a special lens.

Flipped

Use the clue from the cards to unlock the three-digit box on the windowsill left of the TV.

The mirror-image text on the green, red, blue cards spell out the numbers nine, seven and three.

So click the buttons 9, 7, 3 times and open the box to find a yellow key.

Unlock (yellow)

Use the yellow key to unlock the other box on the bar counter, and take the security camera from inside.

View

Place the camera on the box with the shiny disk. It plugs in nicely but nothing obvious happens.

But if you turn on the TV again you can now look at yourself from a new perspective. This doesn't give you new information yet, so how do you enhance the image?

Use the special lens on the security camera, and turn on the TV again. This time, everything is tinted purple except for one of the iron bars, highlighted in red.

So walk up to the iron bars and take the second one from the left, which the game calls a pipe.

That's because the pipe is hollow, as you can verify by examining it and zooming in on its (top-right) end.

With that pipe gone, you can walk through the bars to take a closer look at the glossy box embedded in the wall.

Lettering

While looking at the words above the glass doors, use the pipe to retrieve both capital letters.

These fit nicely into the letter box beneath the TV. After doing so, open it to find a door handle with grip.

Grip

Since the glossy part of the wall behind the iron bars has small dark circles on it, attach the handle there and use it to open the compartment.

Inside, you find another locked box with three buttons of different shapes and a clue with six arrows.

Directions

Use the clue from the magazine rack to unlock the shape box you just found.

Rotating the object from the rack, you find that the →↑←→↑→ arrows appear under the triangle, circle, square, triangle, circle, triangle shapes.

So click the corresponding (RLCRLR) buttons on the box to open it and find a spanner.

Spanner 1

Use the spanner on the bolt behind the red TV button to remove the entire fence (railing).

Shelved

Place the fence against the shelf above the magazine rack. It's a ladder that lets you reach the box on top! And that box has a bunch of numbers and two colored buttons.

Numbers

Use the clue from the calendar to unlock the two-button box on the shelf.

Looking up the numbers from the box on the calendar, you find that they all appear on weekends, in the colors blue, red, blue, red, red, red.

So push the RLRLLL buttons and open the box to find a blue key.

This item determines the ending, so save your game here.

Ending 1

Use the blue key to unlock the wooden door and leave.

You enjoy the fine weather at the beach.

Unlock (blue)

Load your game and use the blue key to unlock the briefcase instead.

Inside, you find a button and push it… and the security camera rotates slightly.

Spanner 2

Use the spanner to unbolt the tall white box on the left window and find a red key.

Unlock (red)

Use the red key to unlock the right box under the TV and find a hook.

Another View

Check the TV again to see the new camera view. Just like before, the image has a purplish tint and doesn't completely match the actual room.

You can now click the corner (of the room) above the bar to take a closer look. It's hard to notice anything, so click the corner again to zoom in once more, and now you see a key hanging on a hook near the ceiling.

Attach the hook to the end of the pipe and use it to retrieve the silver key.

Ending 2

Use the silver key to unlock the glass doors and leave.

You enjoy a tasty grilled lunch with your friend.
