ElleThe Top Hat ClubSome of us can pull off the hat look, some of us just looove hats, and some of us really want to get into the cool new hotspot that everyone is frequenting. It's no fun being left out. If you want to join The Top Hat Club then you better well have yourself a top hat. In this platform puzzler by David Durham, such an accomplishment is both simple and tricky. There's the hat, right within—sort of within—well, not always just within reach. Besides the typical platforming feats that you need to perform, a number of obstructions, such as disintegrating tiles, villains tossing barrels, and button-triggered walls will block your path.

Using arrows or [WASD] to move, pick up, and enter, and the [spacebar] to jump, your goal is to reach the club entrance with hat firmly on your head. Oh, did I say firmly? Any little bump can knock it off, but if you can act quickly and with agility, you'll saunter through the twenty-five stages unscathed. Whether to you it's easy or challenging, you'll be charmed by the "old school gaming values," vintage-style celluloid graphics (film reel jitters can be offed via "options") and many other player pleasing touches which bespeak quality production all the way—so give it a hats off and join in the fun!

This is just frustrating. The controls are strange and difficult to master.

I love the atmosphere, but the too sensitive controls are killing me. It's frustrating when I can easily see the solution to a level, but after six tries I still end up falling in the ocean. I don't mind trial-and-error game play, but I'd rather have it involve solving puzzles (like in 'The Pretender') than mastering the arrow keys.

I have to agree with the others. The character's movements seem a tad slippery, not to mention that it's difficult to pull off a jump at the corner of a block. I got to Level 9 before I gave up.

Any clue what the last award is, down in the bottom right? I've got the other 7, but that last one eludes me.

Regarding the last award.

Without giving anything away, there seems to be a small, intermittent bug that makes this award harder to get (but not impossible).

I'm working on a fix ASAP. Sorry for any confusion caused, and thanks for playing my game.

18 and still going so far and loving the game, but I am not a fan of space to jump, I think is this keyboard is just not responsive enough, plus my hand is more used to going UP and LEFT or RIGHT as the case may be.

For those complaining about the controls, try turning off the "Vintage filter" in the options. That'll make things a little bit easier.

UP to jump would have been preferred over SPACE, controls seem clunky (even with filter turned off) but I finished the game. Still unsure of what the last award is, but I got the other 7. I doubt I'll go back looking for it if it's going to remain a mystery, or require me to play the game again.

control is very hard, and don't know whether it is bug or not, you can jump direct over the box above the last coin in level 10 to get your hat fall near the door

@d_durham: As long as you're fixing things, if you click the question mark in the upper right to bring up the instructions while in stage 1 or 2, it's partially obstructed by the stage's own directions. It's a very minor annoyance, but it should also be very easy to fix.

@Bill: Thanks for the bug report! Sorry, things like this can sometimes slip through. As you correctly point out, it's an easy fix and will be dealt with as soon as possible.

Can someone tell me how to get the top right award? I got all the other ones.
For the bottom right award:

Play with a different hat.
You can change hats in the options menu after you unlocked them.

@edennov: To get the upper right achievement

spend 10 seconds not hitting any keys while in any stage.
