Need a new rage fix? Switch is what you need for all your high difficulty, platform, puzzle game needs. Brought to us by Alberto A. Braga, Guarav Sharma, Daniel Wallner, Sven Waschk, and Vulcan Brimstone, Switch's goal is to reach the portal door exits. To do so you need to switch the light bulb your little bot uses for a face... pressing the down [arrow] or the [spacebar] swaps between red and blue, while the standard [WASD] or the [arrow] keys moves and jumps. When he is glowing blue, he can see and use blue platforms, while when the bulb is red, the only platforms he can use are red as well. We've seen this before in games like Color Theory, but what makes Switch stand out besides the snarkiness of our hero is the high challenging levels that take all the skill, wit, and luck you got.
As I said this game is tough. If the little bot gets caught even slightly in a platform as it appears, he's a burst of pixels. Even if it's just the tip of his pinkie toe, instant death... maybe a little rough as a lot of this game requires you to jump through the same color walls as the platform you are on. You're going to have to be fast to switch colors in an eyeblink. Getting caught in the appearing blocks of color isn't the only way to die, however... there are moving platforms that can't wait to squish you, as well as our old friends, spikes, though at first it may be hard to spot them. They almost look like part of the scenery, like stiff cattails, but you'll discover them when they make you restart the level. It can make some levels even more teeth grinding as what you thought as a safe place to land ends up not. But the background scenery is just so pretty you don't want to imagine the game without it. The only other slight nuisance is that you can't just go back and replay levels, only keep going or restart the whole game, though most likely there'll be a lot of levels you'll be glad to be done with. Switch may not be the most original idea but it's definitely not a carbon copy. It has a few things to teach you in the world of rage platforms and one of those is kicking your butt.
If the switching system were better, this might be playable.
Level 27/32, aaaand I've had it. *Cmd-W*
Brutal !
5/5
I played this a few days ago, seeing it on another site that gives only small reviews but shows way more flash games, and clearly the highdifficulty tag isn't deserved, not like boomerang chang who clearly should have it.
"might be playable", I don't even understand what you mean, since, the game clearly is playable.
"Achievement unlocked: Sucking at this game."
I think by 'playable', the switching mechanism should be activated by something other than the down button.
It's a bit difficult to be trying to jump using the UP button whilst simultaneously toggling the switch using the DOWN button.
Though I suppose I could have just used the WASD keys for one and the direction keys for the other. Still, I'm not that co-ordinated.
level 28 was the hardest.
I'm trying to see if it's possible to get anywhere on 'The End' screen but it doesn't seem like it.
You can use the space bar...?
Really?
Well now I really do feel like an idiot.
27 and forget it
Got through it with just over 200 deaths. The difficulty curve towards the end was all over the place.
This may be my computer/keyboard, but I found that trying to use cursors and spacebar didn't work, because the spacebar simply didn't register when pressing one combination. Think it was up+left+space, whereas up+right+space worked fine, and all of the buttons function normally on their own.
So it's WASD+spacebar or cursors, both of which I find tricky.
Nearly a fun game, but I found it too annoying. Pressing SPACE to switch doesn't work if you're still pressing UP, which wouldn't be a problem if half of the puzzles didn't require you to jump and then immediately switch. So the main test of skill isn't whether you press Jump at the right time, so much as how quickly you can let go of it when you press it. Time Fcuk did this mechanic much better.
Yowzah! Tough, but I thought pretty fair. I finished with 170 deaths.
Pheeze, I didn't have the problem of space and up not working together. But you're right; it'd be impossible without that combo.
Somewhat of an EASY highdifficulty game but tag is deserved.
24 30
24 (I had trouble here anyway)
When standing before wall on platform with platform at leftmost.
Switch, walk left, switch again when past wall... THEN jump up.
30 The way up the lifts:
jump to right platform, switch
jump in between the two on left, switch
jump out and pull back to the left top platform
switch and go right.
I use the arrow keys to move, and the "S" key to switch states.
51 deaths. I'm happy with that! Got the "50 deaths already?" dialog on the last level ;)
