JayisGames is now on Patreon, a service that allows you to donate monthly recurring payments in any amount to help support creators. Please consider helping JayisGames stay alive by donating to us and spreading the word to allow us to keep generating more content for you for free, and grow bigger going forward! Visit our Patreon page to learn more!
JayisGames.com has been around for a long time. What started as one man's personal blog quickly grew into a site where multiple writers and readers from around the world came to talk about and share their love for video games. We review everything from free online browser games to big triple-A studio releases, under one strict rule... we only review the things we genuinely enjoy and thought were good. If we don't like it, we don't feature it, making it our goal to bring to you what we consider to be the very best, most creative, fun, weird, and compelling games around.
All of our content is and always has been free, supported entirely by banner and pre-roll ads for hosted online games. We never ask for or accept any payment from outside sources to review something, and the portion of income we get from our few, clearly marked affiliate sales is scant. Obviously, nobody likes ads, and it's not an ideal situation, but we pay our writers for their hard work, and combined with monthly hosting costs, it means our site runs up a big bill each month. With the rising popularity of ad blockers and the Flash games market slowly shrinking as creators turn to other mediums, we've had to push harder to make ends meet.
That's where Patreon comes in. Over the years we've had kind readers ask to donate to us, and we finally decided to give it a try. Rather than increase ads or institute any sort of pay wall, we're turning to the amazing people who have supported to us over the years with their words and traffic. In return? We promise to double down and make JayisGames the very best it can be, with milestones like the complete removal of ads, more articles, more video reviews, sponsored games, and additional content. Though to start we're keeping things simple with site badges to thank our supporters, with your feedback we'd like to include more rewards, such as Twitch streams or YouTube features on games selected by your votes, contests and giveaways, sponsored games whose content is voted on by our readers, more writers brought on staff to cover even more games, and so on. We're looking for your feedback!
For twelve years you've been with us every step of the way, and we're ready to keep going for twelve more!

What's changed that you're now open for donations, but when it was brought up almost a year ago (to basically universal approval) you didn't go for it?
Uh-oh, money/mouth time! Well, cash is a bit tight for me at the moment, so I couldn't pledge quite as much as I'd like, but hopefully that'll change soon-ish. With regards to the site badges, the Patreon page says to let you know our site names (presumably our JIG names) to link them up, but I wasn't able to find where or how to do that? Is there a private message system on Patreon that we should be using?
Patreon is something we've been thinking about doing for a long time, but we've wanted to explore other options to see what else was viable, in addition to wanting to finish with the work Jeff has spent getting the site responsive and other improvements. :)
Regarding the site names, I actually wrote that up for Jeff and misunderstood how filling out that form to become a Patron works. If you become a Patron, we're actually able to message you to ask your username, so that's what we'll be doing going forward and I'll change the text to reflect that. Thanks!

Many of us have been saying for years that we would pay a little every month if it would keep JiG operating--so now, we need to do it. I'm down, pledge made. Good luck, friends.
I've put my money where my mouth is, but can I keep my nice "contributor" badge instead of the patron badge?
Absolutely! Thank you so much, Reka, and to everyone else who has helped. We will keep working hard to be worth your time and trust!
