Submachine 9

DoraThat little prickle on the back of your neck... it's a combination of wonder and apprehension, and nobody mixes a feeling of awe and the ominous better than Mateusz Skutnik, especially when it comes to his beloved Submachine games. The series has a deep mythology and positively rabid fanbase rife with theories as to the meaning of it all, but now that Submachine 9: The Temple has finally arrived, will we get more answers than questions? This time, you awaken in what looks like the ruins of a strange civilization, only some seemingly busted electronics and a hammer to your name.

Submachine 9As usual, click to interact. Items you can use will appear in your inventory at the bottom of the screen, where you can click once to pick them up, and then again in the game wherever you'd like to try to use them. The cursor will change to highlight interactive zones or area transitions, but that's all the help you're going to get. You're on your own. For many fans, that lack of direction is exactly what they crave. It adds to the air of mystery and the feeling of genuine discovery as you explore. Every bit of progress feels like solving a piece of that mystery, and it's not the sort of atmosphere many other games have even come close to achieving. Of course, that also means when you're stuck, you're stuck, since the game isn't going to offer you a whole lot help. It's up to you to pay close attention to your surroundings and learn how to both spot clues as well as interpret them.

Submachine 9Analysis: Come on, guys. It's a Submachine game. Of course you should play it. The Temple, like its predecessors, marries the otherworldly with the mechanical in its design, encouraging you to poke and prod at everything you see. What often looks baffling in its construction always reveals its own logical use when you start putting the pieces together and learning the way your new realm works. The Temple's construction feels a lot more linear in terms of the way its laid out compared to locations in other games, which makes finding your way around a lot easier. Solving the puzzles? Not so much, but not in any fashion that makes them obstinate or unreasonable. You may not be given a whole lot of clear direction or obvious hints, sure, but the "ah-ha!" moments are always there if you look hard enough, drawing you onward. Each time I thought I was stuck I would notice something new to try, and as a result, I never felt frustrated. Just, y'know. A little dumb.

Though it starts out comparatively easy, the deeper you go into The Temple, the more complex it gets, and mercifully this installment is lighter on backtracking than others have been. You'll still have to do a fair amount of wandering, since it won't always be apparent that something you've interacted with has changed something elsewhere. The visual design makes it fairly easy to pick out items of interest from the backgrounds, but you might still have to use the ol' hot-spot-cursor-wiggle-waggle to find a thing or two. It's also a big game, with a substantial amount of areas to explore that seem to just sprawl out more and more, especially later on. There are hidden doors, secret mechanisms, and, yes, some plot payoff as well. It really is one of those rare games that will have you going "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME" one moment, and feeling like a magnificent clever pants the next when you finally figure it out. Beautiful, creative, and sneaky in the best possible way, Submachine 9: The Temple isn't just a great Submachine game... it's a great game, period.

Submachine 9: The Temple Walkthrough

General Information

  • Area names are completely my own.

  • Don't forget to put down items once you are done using them. If you still have an item in your hand, you cannot travel or activate other things.

  • It helps to have played Submachine 8 since you begin right where that one left off.

  • Once you go through the tunnel, pay close attention to the shape of the structure you are inside. Yes, it is a pyramid.

  • There are 5 secrets in the game.

  • Note: Your inventory is limited, so use items as soon as you can to keep from overloading and being unable to pick up needed items.

The Balcony

  • You begin on a wooden structure on what appears to be a balcony. You should have the hammer and the controller from Submachine 8 in your inventory.

  • Go left.

  • There is a plinth here. When you click on it you get some text, "The light of Shiva drawn Murtaugh to live in the lighthouse."

  • Hit exit and go left.

  • This is the end of the balcony. To your left is a wall. Note the strange symbol on one block of the pyramid-like wall.

  • Go right twice to the wooden structure, then right once more.

  • Here is another plinth. This one says, "The light of Shiva drawn Elizabeth to leave the lighthouse."

  • Hit exit and go right.

  • You are now facing what looks like a fountain filled with glowing green water.

  • Look at the right side of the fountain, there is a spigot which is sending the glowing green water into a crack on the balcony.

  • Go right.

  • You are now facing a wooden door surrounded by tree roots.

  • Go right.

  • This appears to be the right edge of the balcony. There are two stone elephants here, as well as a brass rod and a small brass box to the left of the elephants.

  • Take the brass rod.

  • Use the brass rod on the brass rectangle to the left of the elephant. Once the rod is inserted, click it to move it to the right.

  • Go left. Notice that the door is now open.

  • Go forward into the door.

  • You are now inside the structure. The way out is to the left. This room has two brass pipes going from the floor upwards.

  • Go right.

  • You are now facing a room with a door. If you go through the door you will find a room that is mostly in shadow. On a low structure is a brass bowl.

  • Click on the left side of the screen to exit. You should now be back at the room with the door.

  • Go right.

  • This room has a small structure with another brass bowl on it. Go right.

  • This is the farthest you can go in the structure right now. In this room is a window with a brass jug in it. Take the jug.

  • Go left four times until you are back on the balcony, then go left once to the fountain.

  • Use the brass jug on the spigot on the right side of the fountain to get some karmic water.

  • Once you have the karmic water, go right to the door, then through the door.

  • Once through the door go right twice to the room with the brass bowl. Use the karmic water on the bowl.

  • The karmic water will cause a strange structure to grow. Put the brass jug back in your inventory then click on the glowing structure in the top middle to get a green cog wheel.

  • Go left to the room with the door, then go through the door.

  • Now use the karmic water on the brass bowl in the shadowy room.

  • This time the structure is very different. Look closely.

  • Notice the three squares at the bottom? The middle one has a symbol like the stone on the pyramid wall.

  • Place the green cog into the horse-shoe like structure and it will form a key.

  • Click on the bottom of the key and it will swing, causing one of the squares to move and showing a new path in the structure to the left (this represents the pyramid-like wall on the left side of the balcony).

  • Go left three times to the balcony, then left five times to the pyramid wall.

  • Note the opening in the wall where the strange symbol used to be.

Inside the Pyramid (Red and Blue)

  • Go left into the opening in the pyramid wall.

  • You are now in a tunnel. Go left three times and you emerge in a room with two brass pipes.

  • Go left.

  • You are now in a room with a strange structure, it looks like a fire hydrant with a giant hoop through the top. Note that all of the rooms are red.

  • Go left.

  • This room has three candles, a pipe on the wall, and another pipe with a ring in it on the left.

  • You can go no further left right now. Click on the ring in the left pipe and it will come down, forming a ladder.

  • Go up the ladder.

  • Go right and you are in a room with a sharply sloping ceiling. There is a brass scarab on the floor, take it.

  • To the right is a small square of light on the dark sloped ceiling, click on it.

  • This is a shaft that goes up and to the right, but at this point we can't go any further. Click on the left side of the shaft to go back to the room.

  • Click left to go back to the top of the ladder, then left again.

  • There is another brass bowl here, along with shards of blue stuff on the floor.

  • The pipe on the wall looks like another ladder structure, but there is no obvious control to open it.

  • Use the karmic water on the brass bowl. It will form another pipe with a ring like the one downstairs.

  • Click on the ring to activate the ladder, then go up.

  • You are now in a blue space at the top of a ladder.

  • Go left.

  • This is the top of another ladder, but there is a grating over the hole going down.

  • There is a porthole on the left wall, and a part of a stone key on the ground. Take the part and go right.

  • Once you are back at the top of the ladder you came up, go right again.

  • There is a sharply sloping roof here, and a small brass chest.

  • There's nothing you can do here at this point, so go left to the top of the ladder.

  • Go down to the red area, then go right.

  • You should be back at the top of the red ladder. Go down.

  • Go right and you are back at the thing that looks like a fire hydrant with a hoop through it.

  • Note the small circle on the post of the hydrant thing.

  • Place the brass scarab on that small circle and the ring will close, giving you part of a stone ring.

  • Place one of the stone key pieces on the other to form a complete key.

  • Go left to the ladder, then up. Then go left and up again to get to the blue area.

  • Go left to the ladder with the grate. Remember that porthole on the left wall?

  • Use the stone key on the porthole and the grate will lift up, allowing you to travel down.

Inside the Pyramid (Red)

  • Go down the now open ladder.

  • You are back in a red area. Note that the ladder is broken and you can't get back up.

  • There is a ladder rung on the floor, take it.

  • Also note the small device like the others that held brass bowls. This one is bare.

  • Go left.

  • This area has another one of those hydrant things with a ring. There is a porthole on the left wall and three candles as well.

  • Look closely at the wall above the hydrant thing, there is a small square patch near the ceiling.

  • Hover your cursor over this patch and you will see llllOll.

  • Now hover your cursor over the controller in your inventory. If you haven't been pushing buttons you should see Ollllll.

  • If you remember from Submachine 8, the O stands for the active button on the controller.

  • What you want to do is push the button on the controller so that it matches the pattern of the square on the wall.

  • That means pushing the left, third from the top button,

  • If you pushed the correct button the hydrant will disappear.

  • In its place will be a pole with a brass key on top. Take the brass key.

  • Now place the brass key in the porthole on the left wall.

  • The left wall will lift up. Go left.

  • You are now in an area with the ceiling sloping in from the right. There is a small opening in the sloped ceiling on the left, click on it to look inside.

  • This is another shaft, going up and to the left. Click on the square on the right to go back to the room.

  • On the floor of the room is a brass bowl, take it.

  • Also in the floor is a hole, click on it to go down.

  • You are now below the room with the slanted ceiling. There are three brass blocks here which form stairs up to the slanted ceiling room.

  • Go back up.

  • Go right twice to the room with the broken ladder.

  • Place the brass bowl on the block and use the karmic water on it.

  • This fills in the ladder so that you can go back up. But let's explore further instead.

  • Go left twice to the room with the hole in the floor, then go down.

  • In the room with the brass blocks, go right.

  • There are three candles here, white drapes, and a ladder going down. Go right.

  • There are more draperies here, and a pedestal with a covered brass bowl. Click on the cover to open it and take the brass sphere.

  • Once you've taken the sphere, fill the bowl with karmic water. Once the device grows click on the center to take the karmic seal.

  • Go right.

  • This is as far right as you can go. On the floor is a chest key, take it.

  • There's another of those mysterious squares on the wall below the candle, hover your cursor to see lllllll.

  • We can't reproduce that for the moment, so let's explore some more.

  • Go left twice to the room with the candles.

  • Click on the ladder on the back wall (to the left of the candles) to go down to the next level.

Inside the Pyramid (Gray)

  • You are now in a gray area. Notice the wire going across the top of the scene. Go left.

  • You are in a room with a hole in the floor. The hole is covered by a cage which is attached to a wire that goes to a pulley near the ceiling and goes right (into the next scene).

  • Go left.

  • This room has two pyramid shaped heaps on the floor. There is also a brass plate of some sort on the wall Go left.

  • This is as far left as you can go. You are now in a room with a sloped ceiling. Notice the small hole in the sloped ceiling on the left.

  • Click on the hole to see yet another shaft going up and to the left. Inside the shaft is a brass tile, take it.

  • Leave the shaft, then go right three times back to the ladder.

  • Go right.

  • The wire continues across the top of the scene. However, you appear to be unable to move any further right, as the way is blocked by what looks like a ceiling of tiles and a statue.

  • You actually can move further right, just click on the far right of the scene above the tile roof.

  • You are now on the other side of the tile roof. There is another statue here, and the wire above keeps going to the right.

  • Go right.

  • Here is where that wire ends, above a blue figure. To the right of the blue figure is a lever which doesn't appear to do anything.

  • To the left of the blue figurine is a small gray stone. Hover your cursor over the stone and you will see OllOllO.

  • Note: if you push the buttons indicated by the gray stone, the blue figurine changes.

  • Go right.

  • This is as far right as you can go. There is a brass statue here.

  • Look closely at the base of the statue, there is another brass tile leaning against the base. Take the tile.

  • Go left.

  • Let's get back to the blue figurine. If you push the second from the top left button on your device, the figurine becomes a brass pole with a bowl on top. If you push the left bottom button, it becomes a stone pillar. Push the button that changes the device to a brass pole with a bowl.

  • Use the karmic water on the bowl and a green device will appear.

  • The lever is still useless, however. Push the button that changes the device to a stone pillar (left bottom button) and use the karmic water on the stone bowl at the top of the pillar. A second green device will appear.

  • Now push the button that makes the blue device come back (top left button) and push the lever.

  • Go left four times to the room with the cage. The cage is now up and the hole in the floor is open.

  • Go down.

  • You are now at the bottom of a brass ladder/shaft, still in the gray area.

  • Go left.

  • This room has debris and three candles. Go left.

  • This room has what looks like a door on the back wall. On the door is another of those squares.

  • Hover your cursor over the square and you see lllllOl.

  • Hit the button on your device that matches this, the third down on the right, and a brass wheel of some sort appears on the wall.

  • Go left.

  • This room has a sloping ceiling. On a brass plinth is a lever handle, take it.

  • Go right three times to the ladder, then go right.

  • There is another one of those strange statues here. Leaning against the right side of the statue is a stone tablet, take it.

  • Go right.

  • You are at what looks like a window into the tiled roof of a temple. Click on the window.

  • Inside this temple is a curved brass pipe. There's nothing more to do here, so click on the open window on the left to leave the temple.

  • Go left four times until you reach the room with the brass wheel.

  • You should have two brass tiles at this point. Notice that each one is a segment of a circle.

Hmm...

Stuck already, with hammer, 4D transporter, jug, little brown circle, and two quad circles that look like they should fit into something... uh... 'circly'.

I have a feeling that raising the cage is the next step, but the lever underneath the detached chain does nothing.

(I wish the screen size wasn't so **** small!)

Thanks Dora, that helped a lot. Now I've noticed lots of unclickable squares scattered around that don't do anything but cause the cursor to change... intriguing.

thegreatescaper: Those unclickable squares

are there to show you which rooms you need to use the 4D transporter on to complete a puzzle. Notice how if you hover without clicking, a series of ones and zeros will show up, just like on your transporter? That's how I figured it out.

Maybe you were gonna figure that out on your own, maybe not. Thought I'd help, just in case!

Thanks richards.hannah49,

I noticed the text right after I posted my previous comment. POP, I guess.

Now, how on earth am I meant to set it to IIIIIIII?
None of my items are working where I expected them to... (damn you, unhammerable cracked tile!)

Edit: while typing this comment, a stone pillar mysteriously rose from a hole in the ground I had been studying intently.
Every question or musing in this comment can now be discarded. I apologize for any inconvenience ;).

Room 1111111?? How'd you figure that out? I'm a bit stuck there.

I'm off now... however good they may be, Submachine Games come second to sleep. Made decent progress, and am kind of understanding the logic of this installment.

See y'all in the morning!

Oh, and I found the IIIIIIII tile in the area directly above the dragon statues, to the right of the bowl. It's an empty room with nothing of interest (besides the tile), but I have the strange feeling that it'll be important later.

Anyways, I really am off now, I need my sleep!

  • You can try to fit your two tiles into the wheel and they lock into place. Looks like we need to find the other two tiles.

The Brass Wheel and the Brass Tiles

  • Go right twice to the ladder and then up.

  • Go right to the ladder, then up.

  • You are now back in the red zone. Go left.

  • Go up.

  • You are back in the blue area. Go right twice to the room with the sloped ceiling and the brass chest.

  • Use the chest key to open the chest and get another brass tile.

  • Go left twice to the ladder and then down.

  • Go left twice and then down through the hole.

  • Go right once and down the ladder to the gray area.

  • Go left twice until you are at the room with the red pyramids and the brass plate on the wall.

  • Does the shape of that plate look familiar?

  • Use the stone tablet on the brass plate.

  • A small ladder appears, use it to go up.

  • You are in a room with a sloped ceiling. There are three candles here and the last brass tile. Take it and go back down.

  • Go right to the cage, then down through the hole.

  • Go left to the room with the brass wheel.

  • Place the last two brass tiles in the wheel.

  • The floor will drop into stairs going down.

The Lower Levels

  • Go left.

  • Click on the shaft to see inside.

  • Doesn't appear to be anything there. Go right back to the room, then right twice to the base of the stairs.

  • Go right.

  • There is a stone plinth here. Click on the top to get some of Murtaugh's story.

  • Go right.

  • This room has three candles, and a wooden window to the right. Click on the window to go right.

  • You now appear to be in a bell tower. There are stairs going down, go down.

  • The spiral staircase continues down. Go down.

  • At the base of the staircase is a brass bowl, take it.

  • There is a hole in the wall to the left of the stairs, go left.

  • We can't go any further here, so go right to the stairs.

  • Go up the stairs twice to the bell tower.

  • Go left through the window.

  • Go left to the stairs, then up.

  • Go right four times to the window into the temple.

  • Go into the temple window and you will once again see the curved pipe.

  • Place the brass bowl at the end of the pipe, then use the karmic water on it.

  • The karmic water will create a walkway going right. Go right.

  • Go right again and you will come out a window on the other side of the temple roof.

  • Go right. There is another statue here.

  • Go right. There are wall panels here and debris. Go right.

  • There is a small opening in the back wall that appears to go down. Go right.

  • There is a brass circle on the wall with an Egyptian eye. Go right.

  • This is as far right as you can go as indicated by the sloping wall. There is a brass base here.

  • Go left twice to the place with the opening in the back wall. Go through the opening to go down.

  • You are in an area with a brass pole. There is a hole in the wall with the ladder leading back up.

  • Go right.

  • There is a candle here, and another of those squares. When you hover the cursor it says, "Broken beyond readability."

  • Play with the device and see that when certain buttons are pushed some brass devices appear.

  • Push the right top button and a brass device appears that is bent to the left. Notice the large circle at the end.

  • Place the karmic seal in the large circle and the device will stand up.

  • Go right.

  • There are more candles here, and a stone wheel on the floor. Go right.

  • This is a room with a sloping roof. There is another one of those Egyptian eyes on the wall. There is a strange device on the floor that goes into a shaft in the roof and down into a hole in the floor.

  • Place the brass lever on the device. Once the lever is on click again to activate the device.

  • Go left three times to the hole in the wall.

  • Go left.

  • More candles, and a window on the left wall. Go left through the window.

  • We've hit another bell tower. Did you notice that you can ring the bell with the hammer?

The Bell Tower Levels

  • Go down four times from the bell tower until you finally reach the bottom.

  • Go left and you will find a statue with some brass machine parts around the base.

  • Go left and you will find another statue.

  • Go left and you will find a large red landslide that fills up a doorway.

  • Go left again and you will find another plinth with yet another bit of Murtaugh's story.

  • Go left and you will find a grate in the landslide that goes down. Ignore that and go left.

  • Buried in the landslide is another brass bowl, take it.

  • Go right four times until you are at the scene with the stone wheel.

  • Place the brass bowl in the stone wheel.

  • Go right.

  • There is a grating on the floor here. Go right.

  • Progress halts here as there are bars to the right. Looks like we need a key.

  • Go left eight times until you hit that area with the red debris and the grating going down.

The Tombs

  • Click on the grating to go down. Go down again.

  • At the bottom of the pipe go left twice.

  • You are now at an intersection. Note: If you pulled that green lever to the right the intersection goes up. If you pulled it to the left, it goes down into nothing.

  • If the intersection is going up, go up.

  • Go up again and you are in a secret room. There is a small secret on the floor to the left of the pipe opening.

  • Go back down twice and go left twice.

  • Go up twice and you are finally out of the pipe.

  • There is an opening in the wall ahead of you. Above the opening is a plaque, hover your cursor over it to discover that this is Murtaugh's tomb.

  • Go forward.

  • Here in the opening, you can go right. Do so and you will find a gold statue of Ganesh (it's a god that looks like an elephant).

  • Notice that Ganesh is holding a brass bowl. Use the karmic water on the bowl.

  • Go right twice until you hit the bars.

  • Use the brass key on the brass circle on the wall to open the bars.

  • Go right.

  • You are in an empty hall. Go right twice more to find the tomb of Elizabeth.

  • Go right again and you will find another stone statue. There is a button on the base of the statue, push it.

  • Go left twice to the tomb.

  • Go forward into the tomb. To the right is a gold statue. We can't do anything here yet.

  • Go left twice to a brass circular object. Notice the smaller, open circle halfway down the object's base.

  • Click on the larger circle to find another set of secret blue rooms. Go right.

  • Here you will find a climbing rope and a circle, take them.

  • Pull up your device, then push the third down from the top left button to reveal another brass device, this one leaning to the right.

  • Place the karmic seal in the device and it will straighten up, merging the two seals.

  • Now pull up your device again and push the third from the top right button to bring out another device. This one has an opening in the base with a wheel, click on it (valve).

  • There is a brass pole on the left with a small circle on top, place the valve wheel on it.

  • Click on the valve wheel to turn it and a hook emerges.

  • Place the climbing rope on the hook. Once the rope is in place go down.

  • Go left from the base twice to find another plinth with another part of the story.

  • Go right twice back to the base of the statue, then go right again.

Waaaauuuuug! What are the tunnels in the slanted ceilings bits for?? I'm stuck with

the hammer, 4D transmitter, jug of karma, lever handle, climbing rope, and the brass valve.

I don't know what to do with them at this point.

And how do you open Elizabeth's tomb to get the Liz Medallion to be able to use that mechanism doo-hickey?

I've found one more secret that isn't in the above walkthrough.

Two spaces to the right of the karma bridge, there is a room with a square discolouration on the wall. If you go to the 4th dimension (IIIOIII) then a golden pillar will be there. Place the ladder rung you found in the upper rooms into this and click it. The bottom circle on the pillar will open and a secret will be there.
Note that if you placed the ladder rung in the ladder space further up, then you cannot remove it and you cannot get this secret

Reply

I found the last Secret just now

Right before you place the rope at the end go left. There is a block indicating to go to the fifth dimension where on the right side of the screen is a brass scale.

Use the brass scale on the round gold thing you saw earlier up in the pyramid. Tilt it left first then return to the Catacombs where the first grate will be open on the right. Go down and press the switch

Go back and switch the scales to right and go over toward Elizabeth's tomb where the next grate is now open, inside is the secret

So! There is an actual secrets hub. To access it:

Beat the game and reaccess the main game. Remember in the walkthrough, that there was a pattern in the red section of the pyramid you couldn't recreate? You can now.

Go to that room, then press the fourth button from top right to cause an opening to appear. Go in and you should see another porthole.

The key for that porthole is in the spot where you used two karmic seals. There's a hole in the floor from which the energy is flowing right to a stone key. Take that key to the porthole and open it to reveal a karma portal. Use it to reach the hub.

ALSO! The last secret can be missed if you beat the game before getting it. So be careful.

You can "Go Back to the Game"

With a fully functional 4D Transmitter. I'm still exploring to find the last secret.

Secret Guide

Secret Room

Remember the red room where a tile showed "IIIIIIIO"?Go to the room in the 8th layer and you should be able to enter the wall. There is a keyhole. The key is obtained at the entrance of the temple where you used the 2 karmic seals. You must be in the 8th layer to see the key.

The Brass Statue

Use your hammer on the 2 bells on the top of the 2 spiral staircases. The disc on the brass statue on the roof of the temple will move and the secret will be inside.

The Tunnel

Inside the temple, go to the farthest left and obtain the ritual brass bowl. Use it on the hole at the area to the right of the place you obtain the secret area key. Pour karmic water on the bowl and a switch will appear. Turn the switch once and you will see a inverted "T". Now go to the tunnel leading to Mur's tomb and you will be able to go up, finding a secret inside a room.

The Stone Statue

Go to the farthest right in the temple and you will see a stone statue, fitted with a button. Press the button. Now go to outside Mur's tomb, to the left. Another stone statue should open up, revealing a secret inside.

The Brass Scale

NOTE: The brass scale must be obtained before finishing the game. Completing the game prevents you from returning to base of the temple.

At the base of the temple, where you used the rope, go to the left and you will see a tile. Go to the layer where the tile indicates. A brass scale will appear on the lower left. To use the brass scale, go to the upper level of the brass "eye" and go right. Use it on the pedestal with the brass fork. Tilt the brass scale so that the left ball is lower than the right. Now enter the temple and go to the left locked grating. It should be open. Enter and push the button. Now go back and tilt the scale so that the right ball is lower than the left. Now go to the right locked grating. It should be open and a secret is inside.

The Ladder Rung

NOTE: Do not use the ladder rung on the ladder holes in the red room. You cannot remove it and you will have to restart the game to get it again.

Pick up the ladder rung once you enter the red room from the blue room. Go to the area right of the karmic bridge where a small shaded square where a tile once was could be seen. Change to layer 4 and a brass pillar should appear. Use the ladder rung on the hole and turn it. The bottom hole should open and a secret is inside.

Thanks for the secrets guide, xShad0w!

I do have a question about one of the secrets, though:

One of the instructions says: "Use your hammer on the 2 bells on the top of the 2 spiral staircases. The disc on the brass statue on the roof of the temple will move and the secret will be inside."

Where is the brass statue you mention?

EDIT: Nevermind, found it.

All in all, this game really is a work of genius.

SPOILERS FOR VERY LATE IN THE GAME:

When I first discovered the Tomb of Murtaugh, the hairs literally stood on the back of my neck. I'd read theories that something like this might occur in Submachine 9, but to have it right in front of me… wow…

It's a testament to how immersive Submachine's mythology is - and a testament to how effective ThumpMonks' music is - that a game was able to elicit that kind of reaction from me.

Oh noes, someone didn't vote 5 mushrooms! *laugh* I think it got up to 60 votes with a perfect score, when I was looking. What a Pi Day!

This is the Submachine I've been waiting for. I was sorely disappointed by Sub8, mostly because of the waste of the infinity symbol, but I should have recognized it as a riff on Sub3, which was pure puzzle. (Which I personally didn't like.)

But now, now we've reached the flip-side of the Lab, where the world just opens and opens and opens, and there's more new things framed in familiar spaces. I mean, how many of you freaked out that it would be the sewer maze all over again? Admit it, I know you're out there! The architectural shout-outs are everywhere without being clunky hold-overs. What's brilliant about this is it's not only a solid, entertaining game, but it also gives us an able handle on the entire Submachine series.

All of Submachine. Just imagine holding it in your hands. That's this game. The sensation is the opposite of playing the Subnet, which keeps spilling over. What we find in the Temple may not make sense, and yet – we comprehend.

Has anyone else wondered about the first screen of the game where there's an arch over what looks like wooden planks... there's clearly a hole that's been covered and the planks over the hole have shifted. The circular panel (looks like it's made out glass with glyphs etched into it).

it looks a lot like the one that is at the base of the giant stone statue at the end game so I wondered if they were related.

I tried going back to look after the end screen but nothing had changed. Is it just a red herring?

Reply

Has anyone figured out the end-game secret:

If you choose to continue the game after the end, you'll be back in the tomb. Earlier on (one of the red wall areas, right side) there was a square with IIIIIII.

The 8th dimension works here. There's a new area that looks like it requires a stone key. I haven't found the key yet.

Reply

End-game secret continued:

The (brass) key is not hard to find if you explore enough. In the 8th dimension, there is electricity coming out of a hole in the ground and surrounding it. Use it at the secret area mentioned above, and you unlock:

a portal to an area with a statue of Shiva. There's no text to read, but there's another portal-button to exit the game.

So, second-to-last Submachine, and we finally get something approaching answers. So it's automatically better than Lost...

though unfortunately the Submachine series's grand philosophical thesis seems to be heading in the same direction as Lost's ("God did it! God did it!"). Oh well.

Okay, having reached the secret areas and read the secret notes, here's a little analysis:

So, are we to infer that the "@mur" that sent us all those messages was some AI subroutine left over from when he was actually alive? That's what the "History" secret seems to imply.

So all those notes from Liz and the others warning me about Murtaugh and telling me to "find Liz," those were all red herrings? And all that carnage in Game 7 that we waded through, all those bullet holes and bomb blasts I thought I had unleashed by disabling the defense systems, all that actually took place however many years ago, and my disabling the defense systems had nothing to do with it?

Well jeez, way to undercut my emotional investment in the story.

But hey, it assuaged my guilt about letting Murtaugh back into the Core. And at least they got to make up in the end and blah blah blah. So whatever, I can live with it, I suppose.

And at least now I can realistically imagine Mateusz Skutnik wrapping all this up in one final installment.

So, any predictions?

I realize we're probably never going to get a detailed explanation of how the Submachine actually grows, but we've learned enough about its history and MO by now to make some educated guesses. Somehow Sir Henry O'Toole's "anti-structural architecture" started growing on its own (running itself with those Sub-Bots), and Murtaugh was accidentally tangling up the layers of reality, and so on. We can even patch together a timeline for Murtaugh and Elizabeth.

Of course, we still have a bunch of questions. But maybe he doesn't want to answer the mythos details. You know what? Fine. If we don't learn who all those dots on the Subnet Infestation map are, or what the computer's answer to the "Why are we?" question was (or what that has to do with anything else in the story), or who the man who "said he knew what was happening after Murtaugh left" is, or why the third dimension was less important than the "original," or who those people in Layer 8 who apparently need the Defense Systems to be deactivated are, or any of that stuff... okay, that's not what the story is "about," whatever. I'll be annoyed, but it'll still be better than Lost.

But there is one question I do want answered:

What have I been DOING this whole time?

If I haven't been a player in the conflict between Murtaugh and Elizabeth, then why the heck DID I do all this? What did I accomplish by getting a "job" at the lab and finding the Wisdom Gems and disabling the Defense System and opening the Beamers? What was any of this about?

Reply
ratkorga March 16, 2014 4:21 AM

...I think this is the first Submachine I solved without any help, and in only about an hour and a half, no less. I missed one of the five secrets (bonehead4 named it above, and I missed it for the reason they specified).

It's a beautiful and enjoyable game, and I didn't feel like there were any puzzles I'd solved purely due to brute force clicking everywhere. But I also felt like a number of the puzzles weren't even puzzles so much as matching like objects, and sometimes I interacted with things that clearly were supposed to have some result but I never figured out what that result was. Maybe I'm just learning the Skutnik way?

Reply
Ruesiken March 16, 2014 4:56 AM

So let's talk Story! and what people are thinking.

So what I've surmised is that Kara from Covert Front IS "Elizabeth" and Karl Von Toten is "Murtaugh" ... I think, Given that Toten was the creator of the Submachine. The Text given about Elizabeth being the only one who could make contect with him makes sense because Kara used the submachine in Covert Front 4. It also states that Murtaugh came from the 3rd layer, guessing that was the human/earth layer. In Chapter 6 it said that there were outside forces trying to make their way in... I assume they were the Germans... ?

I guess the only questions I have that would contradict my earlier thought is, if Kara and Toten are Liz & M, and they are dead... then who are we the player? who was leading us further into the net in Chapter 4? Finally when we left Chapter 7, someone was watching us as we left the sanctuary. Whom could it have been?

As the Submachine series has almost spanned a decade, I've followed it from the beginning and can't wait to see what lies at it's end.

What do you guys think? what are your theories?

Reply
h.proksch March 16, 2014 11:29 AM

What do you do with the bells and the

device three spaces left on the other side of the hut... thing. If you look carefully you can see an outline of a stone in the wall that would tell you what layer to be on. To get the device to show up go onto

level 4

.

Reply

@Sylocat:

My interpretation is that the people who left the messages on the stones don't have much better understanding of what Mur and Elizabeth really are or what happened themselves. They use religion (and basically worship Mur and Eli) to explain it. That's why they sound so convinced. I don't think Mateusz will give us complete answers like the ones in this game seem to be because that's not his style, he's more leave things vague and open to interpretation.

So, can we assume we're like Mur and Eli in that we can't see people around us at this time because we've seen all seven layers combined?

Reply

@Yolanee:

So, you're saying that when this is all over, I'll never find out what happened to any of the characters, or what I actually accomplished during any of these games?

I just finished playing and it's a great game. But now I look at the walkthrough and realise... I didn't find any secrets! There were a couple of things that I found but couldn't use, but then never went back for them. My only criticism is that I wish I could

travel back up the Buddha before finishing the game. I could have totally gotten the secrets if I had been able to do that, and did not go back to those objects I found but couldn't use because I thought I'd be able to go back up.

Very minor thing, especially as I plan on playing through again.

Ah, Submachine. The more I play the more I like it :)

thegreatescaper March 17, 2014 4:23 AM

A quick question:

I found the text in all of the secret areas rather enigmatic, especially the one about Liz and Mur getting shot. What was all of that about?

Sub 4 is still my favorite, simply because it was the most story-heavy.

I have high hopes for Sub 10, and hope that whatever we've been doing in the series actually has some purpose other than 'you wandered around for no reason'. I hope there will be a clear goal in Sub 10 other than to explore until the game ends.

Reply

My take on the story:

We DID disable the defense system, communicated with Mur, etc.
I like Ruesiken's idea with Covert Front, so that's possible.
The thing is- thanks to the unique properties of karma portals, we were sent to the future-this is why Mur and Liz are dead. The only problem is- who buried them? who wrote the messages about Shiva we see in the game? Those mysterious people are, I think, the only mystery left.

This was a great new installment... as anyone familiar with the series could have predicted.

As far as some seeming contradictions / negations of info about what's actually going on between S9 & previous games in the series, I suspect that

Mateusz is continuing to Rashomon us with yet another perspective on what has happened / is happening / will happen, and the various characters' actions and motivations at different points.

Thanks to Sylocat for putting the map together; that really helped me, not so much in navigating the game (I'd finished it by the time I saw the map) but in visualizing the layout as (presumably) intended, and thus better appreciating the design of the several areas.

Finally, I would also like to recommend to anyone who hasn't yet finished the game that they sleep, or at least nap, while still only partway through... I had some great Submachine-themed dreams as a result of doing so myself!

Reply

@ the Jack:

I confess, I didn't make that map myself, I found it on the Submachine wiki. I am considering making an annotated version with coordinates, for a walkthrough, though.

@Nimrod:

I thought that too, until I got to the secret location that said:

"- How is it possible, that people are still coming through the loop and trying to turn off the defense systems? After all these years...

- What would you have me do. Destroy his creation? Destroy the whole section?

- I don't know... Maybe...

- You're talking about destroying our history. What next, book burning?

- No, of course not. But maybe... A sign? That it's no longer necessary to shut down the defenses?

- And what about those in the eighth layer?

- I stand corrected..."

This implies that a lot of people have been running through that sequence of events, including the player.

Even if the time-travel explanation is correct, though, it would still kinda undercut the dramatic stakes. I mean, suddenly getting warped forward hundreds of years, and everyone is suddenly dead? That's not much of an ending.

well... a lot of people HAVE been going thru the loop.

it isn't player, it's players. us. that and i'm quite sure that if the player/s could find mur's tomb, so could he. he transcended time and space and there's not many surprises after that.
bouncing around dimensions like that, is it really so weird that we'd be getting notes from both during and after mur's lifetime? the basic question is whether there will be an endgame or not. i'm kind of inclined to think so, but it won't be a totally closed loop. after all, to start the loop over all you have to do is restart the series.

What to do with the secrets at the very end of the game:-

After gaining the eighth dimension button, add it to the transporter and press it.Follow the wisps of stuff left to a white gate. Click on the white gate, wait a bit and an option will appear 'Go back to the game'.

You'll be returned to the tomb area. Climb back up past the bell and then go right to the golden hole in the ground which is emanating more wisps. Here you can get a key.

Go back up to the red area and find the room with 'IIIIIII" on the wall. You'll see it has an opening now.

Go in and use your key. It will take you to an area with a 6-armed statue and two exit. But don't exit yet!

Place each of your secrets one by one into the statue's open hands and head. This will open 5 portals where you can read more information from Mateusz. Then you can exit!

Walkthrough Reference Guide

With a game like this, an ordinary walkthrough is too restrictive: if you venture out on your own, it's easy to "lose your place" in the walkthrough. And then if the walkthrough does things in a different order than you did, you're basically screwed. So instead, I've tried to describe the major steps ("Opening Things"), and all of the items ("Getting Things"). There's also a section on secrets ("Secret Things").

How to use this: If you're stuck because your way is blocked, look in the Opening Things section. If you don't have any idea what your next step ought to be, look up the items you have in your inventory in the Getting Things section. In some cases, you may also be able to deduce what sort of item you need, and see if you can find an item of that description in the Getting Things section. And if all else fails, check out the next item after the one you just used - items are listed in roughly the order I used and/or acquired them.

Opening Things

Door surrounded by roots:

(3 right from start) Go one space right from the door. Get the BRASS ROD and put it into the slot on the ground, then move it to the right.

Pyramid entrance:

Go one left from where you got the cog wheel. Go forward into the door. Pour karmic water into the bowl. Put the cog wheel into the circular space. Click the key that appears. (The pyramid entrance itself is all the way to the left of the starting point.)

Ladder (1):

(This is the one in the red section, two left of where you found the brass scarab. It has all its rungs, and has a bowl to the left of it.) Pour karmic water into the bowl, then pull down the circle that appears.

Ladder (2):

(This is the one in the blue section with a semicircular grating over it.) Put together the stone key as instructed under "PART OF STONE KEY (2)". Put it into the hole in the wall on your left.

Ladder (3):

(This is the one with missing rungs, in the red section.) Put the BRASS BOWL (1) on the box on the right and pour some karmic water in it.

Hemispherical cage:

Go four spaces to the right of the cage. Press the IIIOIII button; pour karmic water into the contraption. Press the IIIIIIO button and repeat. Press the OIIIIII button and click the lever. (For obvious reasons, this will hereinafter be referred to as "the owl room".)

Stone stairs:

Go two left from the cage ladder. Press the indicated button (IIIIIOI). Put the BRASS TILES in the wheel that appears.

Karmic walkway:

Go two right from the cage ladder. (If you just got the footed brass bowl, go up the spiral staircase, left to the stairs, up, then right until you enter the window of the temple.) Put the BRASS BOWL (2) onto the end of the gold spiral. Pour karmic water in the bowl.

Rope ladder:

This will appear at the sign of the Egyptian eye, almost all the way to the right from the karmic walkway. From the Egyptian eye, go left, down, and three right to the other Egyptian eye. Use the LEVER HANDLE on the contraption, then click it to move the rope.

Prison bars:

(OK, OK, so they’re just bars blocking the way, no prisons involved, but they sure look like prison bars.) From the bottom of the right-hand spiral staircase, go to the right until you encounter the bars. Put the BRASS KEY (the small, pronged one) into the big brass thing on the wall.

The way down, part 1:

Go to the base of the right-hand spiral staircase, then go right. Put the two seals into the device (Murtaugh's on the left, Elizabeth's on the right), then click both levers. The way down will open beneath the statue to the left of the spiral staircase (so two left from the device).

The way down, part 2:

Once you have all five secrets, go back down the tunnel beneath the statue (to the left of the right-hand staircase). When you reach the bottom, put the BRASS VALVE into the hole at the top of the post. Click the valve to open the cage. Put the CLIMBING ROPE onto the hook. Click the rope to go down.

Getting Things

BRASS JUG:

Go in the door surrounded by roots (three right from start), then go all the way to the right. Get the jug from the niche in the wall. Fill the jug with karmic water from the well to the left of the door.

COG WHEEL:

Pour karmic water in the bowl to the left of the niche where you got the brass jug. (Go in the door surrounded by roots, go right 2x.)

BRASS SCARAB:

Just to the left of where you enter the pyramid, there's a gold post with an insect-shaped slot on it. Go left. Move the circle downward to open the stairs. Go up, then right. Pick up the scarab. Go back to the post and put the scarab in its slot. Get the PART OF A STONE KEY (1).

PART OF A STONE KEY (1):

see BRASS SCARAB

PART OF A STONE KEY (2):

After opening the ladder with the karmic pull rod, go up into the blue section, then go left one space. After picking up the key, combine them in your inventory by clicking one part and putting it on top of the other part. This gets you the STONE KEY.

LADDER RUNG:

Go down from where you used the stone key. (Ladder with missing rungs, space for a karmic bowl on the right.) DO NOT USE THE LADDER RUNG WHERE YOU FOUND IT!!!

BRASS KEY (the big round one):

One left of the ladder with missing rungs, there's a pillar, a hole in the wall, and a plaque with IIIIOII. Press the indicated button on your controller. This changes the pillar into a stick with the brass key perched on top of it. Get the key and put it into the hole in the wall to open the way left.

BRASS BOWL (1):

One left of the room with the IIIIOII dimensional plaque, in the room with the big hole in the floor.

BRASS SPHERE:

In covered brass bowl, 2 spaces right of the three gold blocks.

KARMIC SEAL (Large):

Pour karmic water in the formerly-covered bowl where you found the brass sphere.

CHEST KEY:

One right of formerly-covered bowl (IIIIIII room).

BRASS TILE (NE quadrant):

From the formerly-covered bowl, go left twice, then up. Go right twice to the karmic ladder and go up. Go all the way to the left. Open the chest with the CHEST KEY.

BRASS TILE (SW quadrant):

Left edge of gray section, two spaces left of suspended hemispherical cage. (Get to gray section by clicking the ladder in the middle of the room between the three gold blocks and the formerly-covered bowl.)

BRASS TILE (SE quadrant):

Go all the way to the right from where you found the SW quadrant. (Top level of gray section.) The piece is leaning against the statue with the headlamp.

STONE TABLET:

Go right one space from cage ladder. The tablet is leaning against the statue on the right. Go up the cage ladder, then left. Put the tablet in the oval slot on the wall.

BRASS TILE (NW quadrant):

Go up the ladder that appears when you put the STONE TABLET in place.

LEVER HANDLE:

Go left one from top of stone stairs (IIIIIOI room).

STONE EYE (1):

Go down the stairs, then left one. The eye is in the, uh, statue.

BRASS BOWL (2):

(This is the one with the little L-shaped foot.) Down the stairs, right 3 spaces, don't forget to hit the bell with the hammer, go all the way down the spiral staircase.

STONE EYE (2):

Go up the rope ladder, go left, and click the top of the, uh, statue.

RITUAL BRASS BOWL:

Go down the right-hand spiral staircase (don't forget to ring the bell if this is your first time). Go all the way to the left and get the bowl-on-a-stick. Go back up the spiral staircase, then go four spaces right. Put the bowl into the stone wheel on the ground and add some karmic water. Move the karmic lever to the right.

KARMIC SEAL (Small):

Go all the way to the left in the tunnels before going up. (This gets you to Murtaugh's tomb.) Go right. Remove the lid of the thingy in the landslide and pour in some karmic water. Get the seal from the top right of the karmic plant.

BRASS KEY (the small, pronged one):

Take the tunnel to Murtaugh's tomb. Go forward once, then right. Pour karmic water into the bowl the statue is holding. Click the portal to go to a triangular blue room. Open the circular hatch on the thing on the floor and get the key. Click the portal (middle of the brass circle) to get back to the tombs.

GOLDEN SEAL OF MURTAUGH:

At Murtaugh's tomb, go forward until you see the sarcophagus. Put the first STONE EYE into the hollow. Get the seal from the mummy.

CLIMBING ROPE:

At Elizabeth's tomb, go forward once, then left. Put the BRASS SPHERE into the circular space. Click the portal to go to the top of the pyramid. Go right and get the rope. To go back, go left and click the portal in the middle of the brass circle.

GOLDEN SEAL OF ELIZABETH:

At Elizabeth's tomb, go forward until you see the sarcophagus. Put the second STONE EYE into the hollow. Get the seal from the mummy.

BRASS VALVE:

Go right three times from the top of the right-hand spiral staircase. There's a dimensional plaque on the wall, but it's "broken beyond readability". Try the buttons until you find the dimensions where you can place the seals (large: IOIIIII, small IIIIOII), then find the dimension with the hemispherical box (IIIIIOI) and get the valve from the now-open hole.

WISDOM GEMS:

After dropping down the rope to the toes of the huge statue, go right four times. Press the dimensional button as indicated on the post (IIOIIII). Click the portal. Move the level down and get the gems. The return portal is toward the lower left.

TURQUOISE BUTTON:

The pillar at the right end of the brass archway has a dimensional plaque. Put the wisdom gems into the dimensions indicated (IOIOIOI), then get the button from the left pillar. Put the button into your dimensional device by clicking the button, then the device.

Secret Things

SECRET of the ladder rung:

Go two right from the right window of the temple (i.e. cross the karmic walkway). There's a space where one of those dimensional indicators used to be, but there's nothing there now. Try all your buttons until you find the gold pillar. (IIIOIII) Put the LADDER RUNG into the hole on the top; click it so it rotates once around, then get the SECRET from the bottom.

SECRET of the tunnels:

Make sure the karmic lever (see RITUAL BRASS BOWL) is to the right. Go down the right-hand spiral staircase, then go left until you see a round hatch in one of the red landslides. Go down, then left, then up. Get the secret from the far left corner.

SECRET of the stone animals:

On the tomb level, go all the way to the right. Click the button at the base of the statue. Make your way to Murtaugh's tomb, then go all the way left. Get the secret from the base of that statue.

SECRET of the bells:

After making sure to ring both of the bells at least once, go up to the owl room, then go right. Get the secret from the middle of the forehead of the headlamp-wearing statue.

SECRET of the brass scale:

From the tombs level, go down into the tunnel under the statue until you reach the cage-like structure. Go left. Notice the dimensional plaque on the top right; set the device as indicated (IIIIOII) and get the BRASS SCALE from the bottom right. Now go back up, then up the spiral stairs, then right once and up the ladder. Go right, past the rope ladder, until you see the device with the two prongs sticking up. Put the scale on the prongs. Move the left side down. Go back down to the base of the right-hand spiral staircase, then go right twice. Go down into the now-open grating and click to push the knob in. Go back up to the scale and move the right side down. Come back downstairs and go right until you're in front of Elizabeth's tomb. Get the secret from the now-open grating.

SECRETS room:

After finishing the game, choose to return to the game. This puts you at the statue with the tunnel below it. Go right to the spiral staircase, go up, and go right three times to the "broken beyond readability" plaque. Press the 8th button and get the BRASS KEY (this is #3, if you’re counting). Now go all the way up to the red section and go to the right of the formerly-covered bowl. The secret room will now be open (unless you went to a different dimension in the meantime; if you did, go back to the 8th). Enter and use the brass key to open the wall to the right. Go right and click the portal. Go left and put your secrets into the statue: lower left hand, lower right hand, upper left hand, upper right hand, and forehead, in that order. This gives you five portals, each leading to a little more of Murtaugh's story. If you go one more space to the left of the statue, there's a portal to exit the game.

I've played the game through 4 times...but I cannot finish. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is. My problem is in placing the gems. I've resorted to the walkthrough and followed it step by careful step...nothing.
Can anyone help me, please ?

Could someone please tell me how to save the game. I can't play it all the way through in one go :(

@lilymay, step-by-step directions for placing the wisdom gems:

Go to the right-hand pedestal of the brass arch. Press the top right button of your dimensional controller; it should say IOIIIII when you point to it in your inventory. Place a wisdom gem into the pedestal. Press the middle right button of your controller; it should say IIIOIII. Place a wisdom gem into the pedestal. Press the bottom right button of your controller; it should say IIIIIOI. Place a wisdom gem into the pedestal. Move one space to the left. The left pedestal should be open, revealing the turquoise button.

@vogonviking, the game autosaves. When you come back to it, there will be a "continue" option that picks up where you left off.

@ Reka,
Thanks for your help, but the "continue" option is greyed out for me when I return to the game. I'll just have to leave the webpage open on a tab and hope no-one closes it when I have to stop playing. Or I could just hide the laptop from the rest of the family until I have finished the game!

Reply

@vogonviking, sounds like you might have cookies disabled or flash storage blocked or something like that. When I return to the game, even several days and a computer restart or two later, the "continue" option works just fine.

Holy cow, you guys! If you haven't replayed Submachine Network Experience within the last couple of years, there's new stuff in it!

liameclarke March 26, 2014 1:23 PM

but guys, what about who we were communicating with in the other submachines? could we be test subjects who unexpectedly broke out, like portal?

Reply

Can this be played with Chrome? I hovered over the patch in the red room and nothing showed up. Hovering over the controller didn't show anything either.

Reply

Never mind, sorry. I was able to go on. But now my grey rooms, don't have a blue figurine.

I got to the stone tablet. But it buzzes and won't let me pick it up. I give up :/

i think that given all the info we have been given so far, we are playing

as murtagh himself, like the karma embodiment of murtaugh, without his memories and we're trying to find out who we were and why we were separated from murtaugh's physical body when he died

if you go into the portal where you got the wisdom gems and use your "teleporter" and change it to anything other than 3 the screen goes black but you can still use the portal to return to the game.

Have hit a snag - I can't find the second stone eye for Elizabeth's tomb. Help?

Following the walkthrough to the letter I found small problem about getting a secret.

When I got to the point in the bell towers section where it says "the statue now has green earrings" mine only had one (right). I managed to get both but I not certain how. I think I had rung one bell using the hammer, but not the other, once I'd rung the second one (but also done a few other things) I went back and the figure had both of the green earrings.

Replayed this recently and noticed a small potential clue to the nature of the earlier games that people seem to have missed:

Near the end, when inside the Mover, if one swaps away from the third layer the Mover entirely disappears, leaving only darkness and the karma portal. (I did this after accessing the eighth layer.) So, the Mover, and potentially the entire Edge, seems to be in the third layer.

Or that could just be an oversight in the programming.

Is it weird if the ladder rung disappears when you never touched it after picking it up? I played it with the rung in my inventory, but then it vanished. I needed it for the room with the ripped off panel.

This author is just plain vile. In a series like this, and he makes so that the player needs to restart the entire lengthy game in order to be able to access everything. It's unfortunate and unprofessional. And it's like this time and time again throughout the series. You don't get my support. It's absurdly faulty. A game like this needs to always be able to be completed, regardless of what the player does, never requiring some action a total reset to finish it entirely. Also, don't compare this series to LOST, because LOST is done by actual professionals who put out a quality product, in no way comparable to the total lack of standards and minimum respect for the audience that we got here.
