"Get your motor running, head out on the highway, lookin' for adventure, and whatever comes our way..." Visions of scenery flying past in a smooth ribbon, wind whipping through the hair, the gentle purr and throb of the engine, motorcycles have long been associated with a sort of wild freedom and adventure, so it's rather poetic that they have become the central theme to Bianco-Bianco's newest room escape, Rich Rich Lip, which features several bad-boy, tricked out motorcycles that could have come straight out of Neo-Tokyo.
Rich Rich Lip features a nicely rendered three dimensional space in which to explore along with the aforementioned road hogs and some tricky and amusing puzzles, all accompanied by a throbbing, kick-ass soundtrack that makes the gamer feel as if they were flying down a highway to nowhere while actually being stuck in a rather small room. A changing cursor indicates hot-spots and cuts down on the pixel hunting, while easy navigation bars allow for smooth movement about the neon-decorated space. There's even an homage (read: rip-off) of Tesshi-e's customary happy coin, two escape scenario endings. Unfortunately, there's not a visible save feature, so to get both escape scenarios you have to play through twice.
Bianco-Bianco, author of the Dr. Ichie series of escapes, and of First Love (a collaboration with Robamimi), has jettisoned their usual themes of either sentiment or horror and just gone with simple, stripped down room escaping with no theme other than the pretty, pretty bikes. Rich Rich Lip is not a long escape, but one that is an amusing break that will get the heart thumping along with the road-rage music that would fit in beautifully with a capsules/clowns rumble. Exploration
You begin facing a wall of three miniature motorcycles, with the words "Rich Rich Lip" on the wall above.
To the right of the far right motorcycle model is a small purple box, click on it.
Looks like something heart-shaped will fit in here, which we don't have. Back up.
Click on the far right motorcycle model for a close up.
This is the "Heavy Lip" motorcycle. Notice the purple circle on the shelf next to the model. Back up.
Click on the middle motorcycle model for a close up.
This one is called "Ice Lip". There doesn't seem to be anything else here, so back up.
Click on the far left motorcycle model for a close up.
This one is called the "Hot Lip". Notice that there is a clickable area beneath the shelf underneath the model. Click on the area below the shelf for a close up.
Once you are looking below the shelf, you will notice a small battery back in the corner, take it.
Once the battery is removed, you will see a small gray object in the same spot, take it (magnet) and back up.
Turn left.
This appears to be the door out, and there is a panel of some sort to the right of the door.
If you click on the panel to the right of the door, you will see that it needs a key card of some sort. Back up.
Just to the left of the door, on the floor, is a flashlight. It is hard to spot because it is blue against a blue background. Take the flashlight and back up.
Turn left.
You are now facing a wall where a full-size "Hot Lip" motorcycle is displayed.
On the floor to the right of the motorcycle and the metal coat stands is a clickable area, click on it for a close up.
On the floor is a panel, but you don't have anything to open it with. Back up.
Notice that the left metal coat stand is a clickable area. Click on it 10 to 12 times and you will get the stand in your inventory.
To the left of the motorcycle is a small pedestal, click on it for a close up.
Once the pedestal is in close up click on the base of it near the floor to see the side of the pedestal.
Once you have the side view you can see that there is an alcove in the pedestal with a pink object inside, take the object (half heart).
There is also a small object visible just to the left of the motorcycle tire, take it (battery).
Back up and turn left.
You are now facing a counter with three stools. On the countertop is what looks like a blue bottle and a box.
Click on the bottle for a close up.
Click on the top of the bottle to look inside and you will see something in there that you can't reach. Back up.
Click on the bottle for a close up and notice the small door underneath the counter. Click on the door for a close up and you will see that you need a key.
Notice something small sticking out from behind the counter on the floor, take the item (string) and back up.
Click on the box on top of the counter twice for a close up. Looks like a calculator. Also notice the purple circle to the left. Back up.
To the right of the counter are three columns of light going up to the ceiling. Above the columns notice that there is a small pink object wedged up there. The area is clickable, but you can't reach the object.
Turn left and you are back where you started with the model motorcycles. Time to solve some puzzles!
The Heart Shaped Box
Turn right to face the counter with the blue bottle.
Maybe that pink object wedged near the ceiling would be helpful?
Use the metal stand from your inventory on the object to get the object (half heart).
Double click on one of the heart halves to pull it into close up.
Use the other half of the heart on the one in close up. Now you have a whole heart!
Close down the heart and turn left to face the model motorcycles.
Click on the box to the right of the far right model for a close up.
Use the heart on the box then click again to open it.
Take the key from the box and back up.
The Small Cupboard
Turn right to face the counter again.
Click on the bottle for a close up, then click on the small door below for a close up.
Use the key on the locked door to open it and get needle nosed pliers.
Back up.
The Flashlight
Pull up the flashlight from your inventory.
Click on the bottom of the flashlight to turn it around and open the bottom.
Place both batteries in the flashlight and it will turn on. Notice that it is a "black light" that shines purple.
Click on the box on the counter for a close up, then click again for a close up.
Use the "black light" flashlight on the purple circle by the calculator.
Notice that there are two squares underlined with an A underneath, two more squares underlined with a B underneath, and a fifth square that has the letter E inside.
Back up.
The Floor Panel
You should still be facing the counter.
Click on the bottle on top of the counter for a close up, then click again to see inside.
Notice that the object inside seems metallic.
Pull up the magnet from your inventory.
Use the string on the magnet.
Close down the magnet/string combination, then use it on the top of the bottle to get a paperclip.
While the paperclip is in close up, use the needle nosed pliers on it to make a latch.
Close down the latch and back up.
Turn right to face the full-sized motorcycle.
Click on that panel in the floor to the right of the metal stands for a close up.
Use your paperclip latch thing on the hole in the panel.
Inside the panel is a button shaped like a heart and the word "power" above it. Also notice the purple circle on the inside of the panel.
Click on the heart to turn the power on. The heart should glow once you click it.
The Purple Circle Puzzles
While you are still in close up with the panel use the black light flashlight on the purple circle.
Notice the writing "A" and "7 x 7E".
Back up and turn left (or right) twice to face the model motorcycles.
Click on the far right motorcycle model for a close up.
Use the black light flashlight on the purple circle to see a "B" and "19 x 3".
Turn right to face the counter.
Click on the calculator twice for a close up.
Remember the clue in that purple circle?
The clue was five boxes in a row. The first two had an A underneath, the second two had a B underneath, and the fifth one had the letter E.
The A clue is 7 x 7E, which is 7 x 7 = (equals), which is 49.
The second clue is 19 x 3, which is 57.
The solution then is 4957E.
Enter the four numbers into the calculator then push the E button.
A key card emerges from the bottom of the calculator. Also notice the NaN clue on the calculator.
Take the key card and back up.
Regular Escape
Turn right (or left) twice to face the door.
Click on the panel to the right of the door for a close up.
Use the key card on the panel and back up.
The door is now open and you can click on it to leave.
Happy Coin Escape
Once you have the key card, you can now find the happy coin.
Click on the calculator twice for a close up if you are not already there.
This time you are entering into the calculator not the solution of the two math problems but the actual numbers and letters themselves.
Enter the sequence into the calculator just like this: 7 x 7 E 19 x 3 E. When the sequence is complete you will hear a tone.
Back up, then click on the stools in front of the counter for a close up.
One of the stools (nearest you) will have the happy coin, take it.
NOTE: This will not work if you have already opened the door.
Back up, then turn left (or right) twice to face the door.
Click on the panel to the right of the door for a close up.
Use the key card on the panel and back up.
The door is now open and you can leave.
Congratulation, you are great!
