Lori.h Nitrome has graced us once more with a wonderful fantastic platform game better than all the rest. What could make it better than all the rest? It's endless platforms, to start with. It's also not only for browser but your iOS and Android devices alike. The goal of Platform Panic is to gather up coins in order to unlock the other platform heroes and find out which is the best... can you guess who they all represent? The biggest issue is every hero seems to be in a panic and won't stop moving. They are always on the run either out of fear or maybe just an eagerness to show what an amazing hero they can be, which makes them a little harder to control. The left and right [arrow] keys make them change direction, while tapping up makes them jump, and you'll need to be quick to help them evade dangers through the randomized order of levels, where spikes, robots, bouncy pads and more lurk. Use the coins you collect to unlock different characters to play as!

Though the premise is rather uncomplicated, the difficulty is nothing to sniff at. Even though the levels will repeat as leaving the stage takes you to a random one, you'll find yourself dying plenty of times. The levels can occasionally be flipped and its surprising how much of this change interferes with your motor system. You'll be dying plenty of times so getting gold to buy more heroes is a bit of a slow go. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like unlocking heroes doesn't give you any more specialties than just giving you another chance to walk down nostalgia lane. While it can get a little repetitive, it's the retro charm this game has with all its shout-outs to the games of your childhood past, at least if you're my age, that makes this game so wonderful to play.

Pretty bloody annoying, no mute and like 3 seconds to decide how to cop and that way it moves is AWFUL.

Pretty looking and quirky isnt a good game. Playable is a good game.

This has probably been playtested more as a tablet/phone game, but I still wish the continue dialog to have keyboard shortcuts. I find myself spending more time switching my hand to mouse and back than actually playing the game and it's breaking my pace.

There is mute. Just click the cog in the right corner when you are on the opening screen.

As for how it controls, it's not that bad. Sure, it was made for mobile and feels better on that, but it's not "unplayable" in the browser version. I don't really get how it's that big a deal.

At one point I unlocked a chara that I think is supposed to look like Samus. Personally, this is my favorite mobile game from Nitrome so far. It's a little more complicated than Roller Polar, which is nice. I like the keyboard controls more than the smartphone controls, myself, though it would be nice if there were keyboard shortcuts. It takes some skill and practice, sure, but so does most any game worth playing, especially this endless-runner type mobile game.

You can continue with the space bar, BTW.
