Constructing skyscrapers is a dangerous business. Perhaps having robots do it is the answer? In this path-drawing puzzle game, Nuts and Bolts from Gaming Your Way, your mechanical hero Nuts and his fairly useless robot dog Bolts have been picked to test out the system. It's a real budget crunch and there just aren't enough beams to go around, so you'll have to pick them up and rearrange them to get to the exit.
The trick is that you can hold only one beam at a time, so you'll have to think ahead and plan your moves carefully. Just click on a platform to move there, click on a beam to pick it up. Once you have a beam, click on an adjacent platform to place it, if it's of the correct length.
A clean isometric interface and levels that unlock two at a time keep the challenge of this game from getting pull-out-your-sockets difficult. Just make sure that you try the levels in order, however, because rather than an instructions screen, the game uses in-level tutorials, and if you miss the tutorial on how to use Bolts, for example, you may get lost. Aside from that, this is an enjoyable coffee break game that you can pick up quickly.
unless I'm totally missing something, it's saying I can only collect one beam at a time, but I have no beams in my inventory -- although I can get the longer beam, cannot get the shorter beam, so gotta give up at level two.
Stuck on lev. 15
JIGuest - There's a bug/confusing error message where if you click a beam that's not right next to you, it'll say something to the effect of "can't collect more than one beam" even if your inventory is empty. You have to move to a platform directly next to the beam you want to pick up first.
I can see why you need to be adjacent to the beam before it'll allow you to pick it up (which side should you be on when it's removed?), but I don't know why it gives the error message it does.
This is an ingenious variation on Andrea Gilbert's Plank Puzzles concept, but it's spoilt by the user-hostile isometric 3D design. A top-down 2D version would be great.
Awesome puzzles :)
Played until level 18. Everything is really nice; the visuals, puzzles, sound etc. The navigation gets a little annoying at times (trying to move and accidentally clicking the other guy, for example). But that's just a harmless small nuisance.
Hey, @Tobberian
Level 15! Follow the black line, then the red line, then the blue, then place beams on the yellow line, and send them both home :) hope it helps sweetie!

(PS can anyone tell me how to get images on here without having to put a url link in? thanks)

[We've uploaded the image for you from the link you provided. That's the best and only way to post images here. -Mod.]
Actually, let me reconsider my opinion. I think the visual design is more than a nuisance. The head of the robot blocks some platforms and the background with clouds and zeppelins could be cleaner.
And I keep clicking that goddamn balloon!
(If I make one more reconsideration I'll say I hate this game lol) nah, it's a great puzzle!
Ugh, stuck on 9 and 14.
Nice puzzle game though.
Nice idea, but the controls are awful and ruins the whole game.
thanks mod :)
@Jazzer: The controls are awful? It's a point-and-click interface. What could be simpler?
Hey, for some reason I can't get Bolts to do anything. After I've clicked on him and Nuts is sleeping, Bolts won't move at all. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
stuck on level 7
Having the same problem. Bolt want move after switched to him....
Thanks for the effort Popelady (helped partly at least). :)
The trick is to pre-place a "goal" beam and isolate it behind you as you travel away with a second beam to connect the 1beam to the "goal" beam.
(LOL hope that made SOME sense/help X).
Bolt movement:
He can only move when:
1. There's a finished path to the exit.
2. There's a path which ends with another yellow platform (Bolt can pass normal platforms on the way to the yellow one).
To move Bolts(The second robot), you have to use Nuts(the first robot) to build a full path from Bolts to the Exit, then click on Bolts followed by the Exit, and it would go there on its own. If the Exit is off screen, you can scroll to it by clicking and dragging the background, such as the sky area. I wish that the game had an instructions button.
I can't get past lvl 15. I can't get the short bridge, and I can't see how it could be possible. Popelady posted the picture saying to follow the black line, but I can't. I can get to the short bridge but there is nowhere to put it, so I can move the medium bridge. I am just sitting here staring at he damn puzzle, somebody help me...please.
how do i do lvl 15. it appears to be impossible because if i move the small beam i don't have anywhere to put it and if i move it forward there isn't a connecting beam so i can't proceed. there appears to be no way to progress.
I can't get past level 20!!
In levels 21 on what are the tan top of beams? I must have missed something in the instructions.
I have the same problem. Cant get thru level 15. Black line in pic impossible to follow. HELP!!!
15 is imposible the whole isolating thing makes no sense
Pretty sure that I saw a 'sequel' mentioned at the end of this one. One should not say the 'S' word, if one is not serious about it.. because we 'are' serious about it, and we are still waiting.
