No Name Room 2

When it comes to colour, a dab'll do ya, but Yonashi has taken things a step further in No Name Room 2, an escape game much like the original that takes decor to minimalistic new heights. Everything is white, and the furnishing is especially bare, but if you click around, you may find that things are not so barren as they seem. The cursor changes when it passes over something you can interact with, and items in your inventory can either be "equipped" for use by clicking their icon, or examined up close by clicking the tiny magnifying glass. You'll want to check out things you're carrying up close to look for clues, because No Name Room 2 doesn't hold your hand, and you'll need to experiment and hunt around on your own. Not that the game is particularly difficult, despite some sneaky puzzles that may require you to rethink what you think is the solution, and a potential need to seriously strain your eyes when yellow is involved, and nor is it particularly long. It is, however, is fun, surprisingly clever and tricksy-false at times, and worth adding a little bit of colour to your day.

No Name Room 2 Walkthrough

Exploring

South Wall

Toy with the plant beside the window. Examine the leaf that lands in the windowsill. The back of the leaf has an outline of a droplet.

West Wall

Check out the painting. It appears to be a diagram of the room, with a compass indicating this wall (the one with the door) to be the west wall.
Examine the desk. Note the lining in the left drawer is covered with moons and the one in the right drawer with stars. Collect the red paint. Examine the bottle--- droplet look familiar?

North Wall

This wall appears to have a ginormous keypad. Notice that the 8 is missing. On the floor is a small trapdoor that is screwed shut.

East Wall

The boxes on the table are locked. The left box has two buttons on the front and a figure 8 is attached to the lid. The right box has an incomplete pattern on top, and the front has a pad of 12 unmarked buttons arranged in a 3x4 rectangular shape.

Solving puzzles

The Red Puzzle

Using the red paint on the leaf in the window reveals a left-right pattern of leaf veins. This pattern corresponds to the left-right buttons on the box on the west wall.

Turning the leaf right-side-up, the clue reads RLLRL

Take the cylinder. Note the screw inside the lid of the box.

The Cylinder Puzzle

Use the buttons to scroll through each of the scrolls on the cylinder. What does each scroll spell?

(grey)ONE (white)TWO (black)SIX
Note that the third (black) symbol is upside down, so turn the six upside-down. That gives you the code 129

Input this code on the "keypad" on the north wall. Collect the blue paint.

The Blue Puzzle

Using the blue paint on the leaf in the window reveals a directional arrow moving in a rectangular pattern.

Imagine the arrow is tracing a pattern on the 3x4 grid of buttons on the right box on the table. Press all 12 buttons in the order indicated by the arrow, beginning in the lower left corner and proceeding counter clockwise around the grid, ending on the button in the middle row, third from the left.

Collect yellow paint. Notice the paint leaves behind a circular hole in the design on the lid.

The Yellow Puzzle

Using the yellow paint on the leaf reveals an image of stars with an arrow pointing to the top right corner.

Open the right drawer of the desk, the one with the star-covered lining. Click on the top right corner

Collect the screwdriver

Use the screwdriver

on the trapdoor below the giant keypad. Collect the Black paint and note the clue written sideways on the trapdoor. Use the screwdriver on the lid of the left box on the table and collect the figure 8.

The Sideways Number Puzzle

Place the figure 8 into the missing 8 slot on the giant keypad. You can now rotate all the numbers.

Rotate 1 3 6 8 and 9 (the numbers in the trapdoor clue) 270 degrees (so that they match the clue on the trapdoor).

Collect the Question Mark Paint, then pick up that circular piece that fell on the floor. Does that diamond design look familiar?

Place the circle piece into the circular hole on top of the left box on the table. Ooh colors!

The Color Puzzle

Use the Question Mark paint on the leaf, then follow the prompts on the leaf to apply the other three paint colors. Look around the room. Notice the colors that have appeared.

The Black puzzle

Use the black paint on the leaf to reveal a clue that gives you the order to push the four colored buttons on the box on the table. This puzzle is a little complicated. You will need to use the cylinder in your inventory, the picture of the room with the compass directions, and the four colors of the objects on the four walls, to find out the code.

Per the cylinder, Grey double circle is N, grey triple circle is E, white double circle is W, and black single circle is S.
Per the numbers 1-8, the letter order is NEWSENWE
Per the compass directions NSEW, and per the colors on each of the walls of the room, the color order is orange, purple, blue, green, purple, orange, blue, purple.

Input the colors in that order, and you're free.

Augusto:

The "cylinder thing" doesn't open, if that's what you're trying to do. Its only purpose is to provide clues for other puzzles.

Man, this is an interesting one. I'm stuck though at the

directions. What do the numbers have to do with it? I figured NEWS, because of the shapes, and orange, purple, blue, green would seem to correspond with that, but I must be missing something with the numbers here, since the order of colors doesn't seem to be right.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Well I'm stuck...

I have opened the box with the two buttons code and picked up the cylinder thing, but I have no clue what to do next...

I feel dumb.

The Cylinder:

Turn all 3 slots.

Turn them all 3 times.

Notice the shapes and colours.

It tells you which numbers to press on the wall.

The number on the third slot is upside-down.

Later on in the game...

After you have applied all the coloured inks to the leaf.

Apply the black ink to the leaf.

Compare the numbers on the leaf to the shapes on the leaf. Compare the shapes on the leaf to the painting with the compass. Compare the painting with the compass to the colours of the walls. Compare the colours of the walls to the box.

Orange, Purple, Blue, Green, Purple, Orange, Blue, Purple.

And.......

You're OUT!

For the cylinder, note that the letters are contained in one, two or three concentric circles. If you read each letter in the order of the circles, the cylinders spell 'one', 'two' and 'six'. Note that 'six' is upside down. This is important for the first puzzle you will solve with this information. Because an upside down six is also known as a

nine

For the color puzzle, you will notice that each color corresponds to a cardinal direction. Once you use the black dropper on the leaf, you will see numbers 1-8 contained in the concentric circles that appear on the cylinder. Each concentric circle symbol from the leaf corresponds to a letter from the cylinder. The numbers are the order in which you care about those letters
