Ms.45Matt Sandorf: Journey to Endless EntertainmentMatt Sandorf: Journey to Endless Entertainment is not just an artistic point-and-click game. It is a *sniff* advergame — a promotion for the Sony empire from music to gadgets to games. It was created by Rabbit Tell (Rodrigo Roesler and Bruno Maestrini), creators of the very popular Trapped series of games, and this one follows similar construction.

Now, advergames aren't automatically evil — remember Honda's gorgeous little Grrr game a few years back? — and Journey to Endless Entertainment is particularly well-executed, with surprising breaks through the fourth wall that I've never seen in a game before. The artwork varies between cute Lego scenery for the gameplay and charcoal drawings for the cutscenes.

I have to confess, though — it's difficult. I wasn't able to get through it without some help. Thankfully, you can save your game and reload if things just aren't making sense. It is definitely possible for you to paint yourself into a corner, so do save your game often!

What compelled me to keep playing was the jokes — if you liked Ben There, Dan That! but thought that some of the humor was just unnecessary, MS: JTEE offers a more G-rated experience but with somewhat less logical puzzles. You'll keep playing just to work out what you're supposed to do with a naked hamster.

In the meantime, I've given the genius everything except the immortal frog. Won't you help a poor JIG reviewer out?

This is by the guy who made trapped right?

Reply

Yes it is by Rodrigo Roesler. It's indicated in the first paragraph of the review.

(Does anyone read the reviews? Should we just become a link blog like everyone else?)

Reply

I thougth it is a funny game (played it already). Some jokes, indeed hard to do without some help.

Reply

I'm stuck getting through the power control door.

Reply

Getting through the power control door is one of the main quests of this game.

Reply

I gave the guy with the big scissors the little scissors in my inventory(no idea where I got them), and he gave me his big scissors, but that's all I've got so far.

Reply
beckslouise September 29, 2008 3:17 PM

i have most objects now and can sense where the power supply will come from but am now stuck :(

Reply
beckslouise September 29, 2008 3:20 PM

i got the big scissors and used them to cut through the bushes which takes you to further places

Reply

I'm stuck trying to get the picture of Elvis to the wise old man.

Reply

Hey, if it helps, I read more reviews than I play games?

This one seems too tedious for me, even though I adore the trapped series. Never been a fan of advergames anyway.

Reply

I definitely wouldn't say get rid of the reviews Jay, I know a lot of people read them or at least skim through them. Even if they don't, it gives the site an air of professionalism and care that isn't achieved by just spewing links at the visitors.

That said, the length of the reviews can get a bit excessive, although it does depend on the game as to how long it should be.

Reply
beckslouise September 29, 2008 3:23 PM

i have the elvis picture, bouncy ball and loads of stuff on the memory stick but still cant get the woman to part with her laptop to provide the power! And what is with the firefly and hamster???!!!

Reply

Can you (or do you) combine items?

Reply

For what its worth, I read the reviews.

Also,

I've gotten blue, red, yellow paint; wire, memory card, whoopee cushion, ace of spades, mirror umbrella, firefly, bouncy ball, hamster, frog
Also, I've

dressed the frog up like the hamster

Made the frog look like the hamster

Made something look like something else

Use the frog on the guy with the scissors

Then you can use that

to make the popcorn machine gross, then give a bag of popcorn to the guy at the tv for 50 cents.

Now, I'm stuck.

I took the picture of elvis, but its still on the bluescreen. How do I get the band in the photo?

Reply
beckslouise September 29, 2008 3:32 PM

i havent had an opportunity to combine objects yet but just got a new random item...

a reflective umbrella?!!

Reply

Ah, the power of posting.
I post, go back, and BAM!

Power door open. Now a LOT more to explore!

Reply

Ok fuzzboxer, I think we need to....

get a picture of the "band" and stage (behind door in kareoke room) and have the photo kid cut and paste before we can give it to the wise man, at least I think so.....

Reply

How do you get the firefly?

Reply

Yellow Paint:

You can use this to damage the popcorn machine and get money from the tv slacker.

Reply

To get the fire fly...

You use the empty jar found in the screen before the guy in the cave thats in the bushes.

Thats my latest discovery....>_>

Reply

Dumbo007:

I got the power back on and that 4-screened TV had some video of a concert with fans in it. I stored that to the memory stick, but how do we remove it from the card? That's where I'm at now.

I'm thinking that if I can get enough money to buy snacks for the laptop lady that will do something.

Reply

Fuzzboxer,
Great job! See the yellow paint spoiler above

I actually did it with the blue paint

How did you

get the power on?

Reply

how do you get the frog?

Reply

Fuzzboxer, nevermind, I got the battery.

Reply

To get the battery,

you have to make that singer scream in order to break the karoake machine and get its battery, right? Probably with the frog disguised as the hamster. But I can't get my frog to interact with anything. Can anybody help me?

Reply

Mind sharing, Dumbo?

Reply

How do you get the battery?

Reply

To get the battery:

Give the frog and hamster to the picture cutting-up kid and he will...do things to them. Give the, uh, frog to the singer and she will scream, breaking the karaoke machine and revealing the battery.

Reply

And one gets the frog how?

Reply

"Should we just become a link blog like everyone else?"

No! Please, don't! Like me, a lot of people come here to read the reviews and use it as a filter for all the internet junk. The increasing number of people that doesn't seem to read the review/description means only an increase in popularity. (see youtube, for example) which also means that more people are reading the reviews. :)

As for the game, I love trapped and its non-pixel-hunting policy! :D

Reply

The frog can be found

in the old man's beard.

Reply

I agree with Diego. The different types of games, the great feedback, the race on completing the puzzles. I check JIG at least once a day. Simply because I like it.

Reply

Aha!

you use the hamster more than once....

Reply
anonymouschick1 September 29, 2008 4:18 PM

How do you get the memory stck from the man?

Reply

Joke:

It is also possible to 'damage' the popcorn machine by putting the frog in it

Reply

Perpetual Motion Machine problem:

What's the last element I am missing?

  • Two antennae

  • Immortal Frog

  • Firefly

  • Reflective umbrella

  • Whoopee cushion

  • Bounce ball

  • Playing card

  • ???????

Reply

@fuzzboxer

wires

And

you can check the diagram which part is missing

Thanks for such a nice game - and for all games that appear here!
Reviews are a must - just love the way they are written!
BTW, out of the game - for the fist time without anyone's help!!! Don't know how to write spoilers, though.

Reply

I'm still lost on getting the frog. Someone mentioned levitating man's beard?

Reply

@taybo

Do you have the big scissors already?

Reply

Frog to be found:

Check the rock next to the old man.

Reply

Thanks, Fuzzyface, that did the trick!

Reply

Mark

I gave him the wires, but forgot to put it on the list.

Reply

Hi. I'm Bruno, the "other guy" that created the game (as well as trapped) with Rodrigo. Thanks for the great review.

I just wanted to point out that while playing, no matter what you do, there is no way you can do something wrong and need to reload. Click as much as you like, there are no dead ends.

Reply

@fuzzboxer

try the paint too

Reply

Need help.

Where do I find the bounce balls?

Reply

I apologize for the oversight, Bruno. I've updated the review to include your name as well. Cheers!

Okay, the PSP guy won't give me his machine and I have nothing to barter with.

@Dumbo007

You don't? Well, maybe you don't need to...

Reply

OK, I'm out, with a smile as large as the character in the end....think I'll go buy something from Sony.....

Reply
Chargelaughing September 29, 2008 4:45 PM

Yay! Usually I am far too dumb for these, but this was the first point and click that I had to use NO hints for! I had to restart once when I gave the hamster away a little early, but otherwise it was fun and not all that tough.

And Dumbo007:

Maybe explain to the singer that it would be in her best interest if you got the PSP...

Reply

Never mind. I just found out

the bouncy ball is bought from the toy vending machine in the room with the guy playing psp

Reply

Cool, I am out as well! Loved the game - good humour. And I agree, not too hard - first time I did an escape game on my own. The hints in the game usually push you in the right direction

Reply

Awesome game. I don't know about the hard part, since this is the first room escape ever I didn't use a walkthrough to complete :P

things to improve:

I have the photo of Elvis and he's in front of the band... but it won't let me give it to Elvis to sign.

Reply

Oh wow. I loved this game. Sequal/2nd chapter perhaps? Hope so. Oh and I read the reviews. They are one of the things that makes this site so much better than other gaming sites. Please don't even consider stopping them Jay. All the reviewers are good at what they do and I enjoy reading what they have to say.

Reply

Andrew, I had the same thing happen to me: all the text says "undefined." I'm using Google's Chrome browser. Et tu?

Reply

I think nobody can complain about the reviews, if you don't want you can just skip them.

Its somehow a phenomen I've seen a lot on the internet, there are a lot of people who will hit reply without even reading anything, just the title, and hit reply. I don't know, I guess its youthfull inpatience, you cannot control yourself to wait a minute to converse, until you read whats there. I've seen on some forums some real extreme things... People posting stuff wanting to sound smart, not even read anything but the headline.

I don't think its a good idea to surrender to this people by don't doing anything first hand. As I must confess, yes sometimes I also skip the review when playing a game. It gives you a good impression fast if its a game you want to continue to bother with, or just skip it alltogether. However before I gonna write any comment or question I do read the review.

Reply

The reviews are most of the reason I keep coming back -- great way to filter out most of the games out there, and find out if a genre game (hidden object, etc) is just another clone or something special worth looking into. Thanks!

Reply

He, I noticed that a couple of JiGgers, Psychotronic and Ms. 45, have been testers on this game. Neat. :-D

Rodrigo did an outstanding job on this one. I laughed so hard at the PSP merchandising money! I do agree that it's a bit hard. It's more of an adventure than a casual game, and can hardly be completed in one sitting without help.

SBCG4AP, Ben There, Dan That!, and now Journey to Endless Entertainment. I'm starting to get hoarse from laughing so much!

Ei, Rodrigo, parabéns! Adoro seu trabalho, continue assim! Mas eu ainda não entendi o que são as tais "pistas" que você deu em cada jogo. Algo a ver com LOST...

Reply

Let's see...the OP claims advergames aren't evil, then points to Honda's Grrr game. Having played the latter--that's a bit of a contradiction there. ;-) With the time limit imposed in the game, it's plenty evil. ;-)

Reply

Yay trapped guy! you can recognize a game made by the trapped makers if it has the trapped guy. I wonder if the'll put Froggy into the last episode?

Reply

Getting rid of the reviews would be such a waste! Granted, I use the RSS feed to check if there's anything new, but without reviews, I wouldn't know whether to play some games that are "iffy". Not only that, but sometimes a game looks pretty bad, but when I read the review, it sounds great and it turns out to be a nice game. For the game series I know I like, reading the reviews helps me to get the basic gist of the storyline.

So far, the game is pretty good. I like the storyline (I'm only in the second room so far)

Reply

I want to go back to the storage room, but when I click on the door and the map it says "I don't want to go back in there." But, I think that's how I get into the

ThemePark, I noticed that too. I also noticed that John B was on that list too.

Devin..
You can't go back there, but don't worry! as Bruno said, you can't get stuck in this game. :)

Reply

I played this a few days ago - completely on my own. I even wrote a great walkthrough for it, but by the time I saw this, one was already posted! Oh well, que sera sera.

I really enjoyed this game - funny, with just the right amount of difficulty. I myself didn't utilize any help, as there was no help to be found! I managed to make it through the game, then played it through a second time to see if there was anything I didn't do properly, but I don't think so. A very fun game - I look forward to new installments!

Also - October is nearly here and Rabbit Tell's blog mentions the third (final!) installment of Trapped will be released in October!! Yay!

Great game, I loved Trapped too, hope there will be more.
And for what it's worth, I read and appreciate the reviews. I guess some people choose to skip them, but that doesn't mean we all do.
Keep it up :-)

to record the data from the TV wall click on it with the memory stick while you are still in the full room view.

To use it

after you get the laptop from the secretary,

@Bruno:

Thanks for clarifying that there are no "dead ends" -- this makes the game much more enjoyable for me. I'm loving the little jokes peppered throughout!

@ Jay-

I for one do read the reviews, and I think you would be doing us a great disservice if you and your fellow bloggers were to stop writing them. Anelson thanks for your help. I have been doing what you said for about a day now (i.e. it's what I was trying before I posted my first question) but I can't get the memory stick to 'load' on the wall. I have already used the laptop and I'm now wondering whether I have in fact found a dead end by doing things in the wrong order. All that happens is either I see the list of contents on the memory stick (if I click on it) or if I click on the video wall and select the video to save it says 'I need to save the video somewhere'.

I am now going to try to load an earlier saved game and see if I can get past this.

@Claribel

You're clicking the wrong memory stick. There's the one in the corner that's not an item, but works as the map, just for reference. You need to find the memory stick in your items list to use it.

What do you use the folder for? I beat the game and never used it. I noticed it has holes punched out of it and I was thinking maybe you put it on top of a piece of paper to reveal a message, but that didn't seem to be the case. Anyone have any idea what it's used for?

Reply

For everybody having trouble getting into the Data Room:

Did you remember to unlock it from the laptop?

I'm stuck on getting the PSP. The singer won't talk to me, and David won't stop looking for his frog. lol.

Reply

I read the Walkthrough, and I need to put the frog in the Popcorn Machine, but it won't let me. (It is still disguised as a hamster. How/do I get that off?)

Reply

hoboiggy:

Making him not look like a hamster comes later. I actually took the bag of popcorn, gave it to the guy, then put the frog in the machine. Alternatively, you can use one of your paint cans on the machine, instead of the frog. Either will work.

Hopefully that will help.

Reviews are good thing to have just often they are just too long and/or give more away about the game than I'd like.
I'd prefer a more clinical and concise review, they can be entertaining though.
Overall I prefer to have them as they are than not at all.

I only have one antenna. How do I get the other one?

Easter egg!

Don't forget to make the bunny. Doesn't do anything as far as I know, but it's cute. And you can mess with it further.

Reply

Where's the shopping room?

Reply

Hey Jay I noticed that you think maybe you should just become a link blog. That's the worst idea ever. The reason I use this site for all my flash games needs is because you actually get a gaming connoisseur to sit down and play every single one of these games that we see on the site. That means that all these games are good to amazing. Other places just put anything up that the get submitted as long as the graphics are good, gameplay takes a back seat.

I hope you were joking, and yeah I read all the reviews before I play any of these games.

Reply

The Data Room is on the Bottom Left of of the Meeting Room! Not the Right where the machine is at. You will be able to get access to it at the right time. You will know when you can get in when it allows you to do so! Remember Bottom Left!

Reply

"Ron Gilbert - thanks for everything." What a lovely touch - that made me love this game straight away. :)

Jay, you might want to take out the "It is definitely possible for you to paint yourself into a corner, so do save your game often!" line from the review now that Bruno has confirmed you can't gets stuck as it nearly put me off playing!

>>Love the game, but hate the product it's

What are you talking about?
Memory stick isn't a media format.
Memory stick is a storage solution, like a harddrive, DVD, CD, Flash drive, 3,5'' floppies...
You can store just any format on it. You don't need to care about the actual data format on the memory chip, since you never come in contact with that format anyways, it's depend in which state the wear leveling system is, and which filesystem (FAT32/FAT16/Ext3/NTFS/...) you are using.

So whats "proprietary" about memory stick? Maybe the communication protocol between card and reader is proprietary, but then you can just buy a USB reader. The memory stick act as a harddrive, so you can store ANYTHING on it. Like a bootable linux partition or something.

So memory stick is just as open as it needs to be.

We're still waiting for someone to notice where that rabbit came from. No, it doesn't do anything, it's just a cool thing to put in. :)

azziebon:

Actually, we were a little tired of Trapped when this project came out, we really enjoyed creating Matt Sandorf (I like it better than both parts of Trapped) and, c'mon, Trapped is a personal project, this one was a paid one, what would you do? If we could live just creating free games, things would be easier and faster.

ZinVertigo:

We tried to ease the ads by making fun of them and inserting them in the game, but Sebastian is right.

Ems:

Yeah, we really owe lot to Ron. Hope he sees that. :) And, as Bruno said, we do make a big deal of planning and testing the games to be totally sure that you can't be stuck in it by wrong decisions, and that you can solve lots of puzzles without a predefined order.

Cheers, and thanks to all. :)

Who is that guy in the picture? And I still need that PSP.

Edit from my previous comment: there is at least one thing that you only get one chance of doing and then can't go back. But we only do that with easter eggs, that are not needed to finish the game, so there are no dead-ends.

Ok, I confess, I'm actually just testing my jayisgames account.

Someone help. I have the 2 photos but can't merge them. Any hints or tips on how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

You have to merge the

photo of the cardboard cutout of Elvis in front of the blue screen

with the

photo of the band.

Now seriously, I really need that PSP.

Ok. I found out how to get the man in the power place.

POWER ROOM
First, go to the man where you get the plutonium. He'll ask you for a diagram. Go to the cave with the old man, and take a picture of the diagram. Save the picture, (I think you have to use the computer) and then go to Elvis so he can print the picture. Show it to the man, and he'll go into the power room.

The shopping room is next to the secretary with the laptop.Elvis is the guy in the shopping room. Give him the naked hamster and the rest will follow.

after u get the big scissors from the photo guy, cut through the bushes. the jar is among the bushes in the next scene which also has two other bushes(i'm not too sure but its in one of the bushes somewhere)

Rodrigo,
Corsaire thought the energy needed to power a flux capacitor was 2.21 gigawatts. Further down on the wiki page you quoted at the Translations
section we are told the French version of BttF quotes the figure as 2.2.1. Thus Corsaire is French and playing the french version, which does have the monitoring engineer say 1.21. Do the tiny number of Français able to spot this discrepancy warrent editing the dialog?

kc,

He does not give it to you, he gives it to Anna

You must have completed the perpetual motion machine and had David Green come in and steal back the frog for this to work.

For good measure have the PSP dude refuse the lend again

When returning to the music room Dave will be sitting at the piano, Talk to him till he says "yeah, do you have any idea how frustrating this is?"

Then speak with Anna till she pops off for a chat with Mr. PSP. Follow thru that tête a tête and Anna will return to give you your fantasic PSP (€.50 for me! ;-P)(

OMG it's David Green, looking for his frog... I actually played this before the Trapped series, and I thought the frog in number two looked familiar... thumbs up to Rodrigo Roesler! I love subtle references to other games... XD

Is the link broken? do you know where the game is?

The link seems pretty dead to me

Why must it be broken? The one time I want to play it, its broke. :{

Link fixed. We're hosting it now so it shouldn't disappear any more.

So how do I make this rabbit?

Reply

Never mind, I did some digging and found it on another forum.

In case anyone else was wondering:

use the hedge clippers on the lone bush in the center of the room, before you cut a path into the next area.

However, after that, I don't know what you can do with it besides

painting

Is there more?

Can anyone tell me how to get past the 'Elvis Glitch?' I am extremely frustrated at this point.

I played the game the first time and got stuck at that point. Figured I did something wrong so I started over.

While playing the game a second time, the game once again had a glitch at that area. It will not let the player get their Elvis photo signed by the clerk 'Elvis.'

Ready to pull my hair out, I started the game over a THIRD time and followed the walk through STEP BY STEP to follow the specific order of game play but yet again the game will not let me get Elvis' signature on the photograph. It just keeps giving me error messages that the object doesn't work.

Yes, I have the right photograph (the photoshopped image of Elvis in front of a crowd and curtain). Yes, I have done everything I should up to the point. Yes, others are experiencing the same thing.

Anyone know what to do?

For some reason, every time I try to play this game, all item text and dialogue just reads "undefined". I have the same problem with the Trapped series, if I play the versions hosted here. Playing those games from Rabbit Tell's site works fine, but this game is no longer hosted there. I would appreciate any help in fixing this issue, because I'd really like to play it. I'm a huge fan of Rabbit Tell games, especially the first 2 Trapped titles.
