Link Dump Fridays

DoraOkie dokie lokie! No time to waste. It's Friday and you know what that means... time to break out the corpses, the lurking rabbitmen, the alarmingly well-equipped rats and the endless tide of soulless robots! If none of that sounds appealing, then clearly you aren't cut out for this week's Link Dump Friday. I don't know why... it's all good, clean, wholesome stuff. Did you see the segment Martha Stewart did on shambling corpses last week? It was gorgeous!

  • The Saddest ZombieThe Saddest Zombie - [Parental Advisory: Contains extreme violence and gore.] Oh, what a lovely little spot-the-difference game! Sure, it's got zombies, but it'll probably be all heartwarming and junk... it is very Christmassy, after all! So let's just click on the next few pages andARRRRRRRRRGH! Wha... what is... why would you eveWAAAAAAAAAUGH! W-well... I'm sure that it's... kind of endearing? Let me just take another looBLAAAAAARGH!
  • Mechanical PuzzlesMechanical Puzzles - Puzzles and physics! They go together like sardines and jam! (Oh, and I suppose your tastes are so perfect and universally loved?) In this homage to games like The Incredible Machine, you'll Rube Golderberg your way through a serious of increasingly elaborate contraptions... that is, when the physics decide to play nice.
  • We Are the Robots 2We Are the Robots 2 - Robots are all about teamwork, which is why when the mechanical uprising comes it will be as brutal and painful as it will be swift and colour-coded for easy reference. Make chains and earn power-ups and upgrades in this match-3, Tetris-like, falling blocks game. It might be easy, but don't let them hear you say that. Robots are also all about swift and merciless retribution on their detractors.
  • Gentlemen Rats in OuterspaceGentlemen Rats in Outer Space - Anyone who grew up in the '80s knows that rats are anything but gentlemen, but as long as they're confining themselves to elaborate rodent-driven contraptions in outerspace they can call themselves whatever they want. Set your rocket's power and trajectory to help the rat conquer the moon (which is made of cheese, you see) while avoiding all the obstacles and perils in its way. Just make sure you don't shine any black lights around after the rat is gone because, seriously, ughughughugh you are better off not knowing.
  • YokuaruYokuaru - If you're into surreal escape games then there's a good chance Detarou already holds the key to your heart. With strange men standing silently in closets, clues hidden everywhere, and bunnymen doing dramatic reveals on the balcony, this is another fine installment in What The Heck Did I Just Play? Kind of makes you wonder what would happen if Minoto and Detarou combined forces. (Answer: The universe couldn't handle it.)

Yokuaru has multiple endings, and I don't know which one is the right one because I don't speak Japanese!

I'm stuck on Yokuaru.

STUFF I'VE FOUND:

Paper with chicken grease on it.
2 batteries.
Umbrella (been used and lost).
Power Drink (been used and lost).

STUFF I DON'T HAVE:
A clue what to do next.

Same here, looks like an original game, but pretty hard to figure out. What's with the man in the closet?? O-O

Add to earlier list of items:

A screwdriver.

Stuck again, though. :[

@Onyx Mouse:

Try looking around:

Aha! the paper is actually a real clue, got it when I really looked at it. Now it makes me feel like a duntz :)

greasy paper w/ lines spoiler:

On the paper, read it as if the shortest line is a 1, the second longest is a 2, and the third longest is a 3. The drawing on the corner of the paper tells you where to use it.

where to use greasy paper w/ lines:

start from the closet with the creepy dude inside, click left once, then on the drawer. After, click the left side of the drawer.

screwdriver? that's new. I'll try looking for it.

greasy paper is a code

there is some strangeness going on with the left side of that nightstand with the phone

still stumped?

think of the lines as numbers.

still troubled?

not every country reads left to right

Ahh, I see where I was going wrong here:

I'd thought that was the case, but when I tried it, it didn't work...then I realized

the lights are ordered 3-2-1 from left to right!

Got me too, thought I was going mad until it hit me. Still can't find the blasted screw driver though. It usually is the easiest thing to find, IMO.

To get the screwdriver:

That locked cabinet in the closet holds it. It has a 3-number combo.

You'll find 3 numbers strewn around the room:

One on the book shelf.

One in the 4-shelf drawer in the closet.

One under the poster over the bed.

The numbers all have symbols by them as well, which you can see on the painting.

That help?

Alright, I'm giving in...any hints about the screwdriver? *sobbing quietly*

Reply

Because you need the numbers to get the screwdriver...... in the picture there's a moon a cloud and a house... i'll only have the numbers for the cloud and the house... the moon i can't find it yet, i tried until i got the correct number... inside the closet, in the right cabinet with two drawers you can use this code

however... i can't do any more than die when i open the door jajajaja

@ Onyx

Thanks for the hint. Ha, It's funny how I stared at that picture, and finally when you gave me that hint I went "ahhhhh".

Hey! Rats make wonderful pets, you know. They're like a cross between a cat and a dog, but in a more convenient size.

YOKUARU WALKTHROUGH:

ITEMS

-Power Drink

3rd shelf, in closet. How you use this will impact whether you can get the best ending or not.

-Umbrella

Next to door in hallway by closet.

-Batteries x2

One under sheet in bed, one under bed (need umbrella to reach).

-Greasy Paper

Under sheet in bed. Move it twice to get.

-Screwdriver

Locked shelf in cabinet. Clues to combination are on book shelf, in 2nd shelf, under poster, and on painting.
-Combination

962

-Remote

In bottom shelf of end table next to closet. Combo lock on left side. Greasy Paper needed to unlock.
-Combination

R R L C R L

-Key

Put the batteries in the remote, then use it on the TV. Use the screwdriver on the wall panel behind book shelf.

ENDINGS

-Bad End #1

Once you get the key, use it on the door next to where the umbrella was, and open the door. Apologize to the guy you just smashed with the door later.

-Normal End

Same as before, but once you unlock the door, BEFORE YOU OPEN IT, look through the peephole. Once the guy walks by, you can open the door safely.

-Bad End #2

Once you get the key, use the remote on the TV again to return the book shelf and find out you knocked Muscle Man through the door. Go through and find THAT BLANKITY-BLANK PANDA...and an old lady with no dentures. Anwyay, use the key on the door and make for your escape... ...or not.

-Good End

FIRST AND FOREMOST, DO NOT GIVE THE POWER DRINK TO MUSCLE MAN!! Instead, give it to the old lady, go through the new entry on the right, and use the key on the door.

Just wanted to comment that I'm not overthrilled with having to watch 2 30 second commercials now for every game. I thought it was a fluke earlier last week, but now we get a full commercial PLUS a loading ad.

While I'll sit through this for a lot of game I want to play, there are bound to be some that I just click right off of. Too bad, really.

[Actually, you don't get 2 ads for every game, and if you're logged into an account here, you'll see them even less. We have had to add an occasional video ad because revenue keeps declining while our expenses continue to increase per month. Since most of our content is free, ads are necessary to pay the bills. -Jay]

I have to agree with neo. I know the advertisement helps pay for the devs and the site, but I dont like the feeling of games being dependent on commercialism. I dont go through an ad every time I want to look at a painting, why should I have to look through 2 commercials to play a great game?

[Because it costs money to not only create the game, but also to write about it and deliver it to you. We pay the bandwidth (not free) that allows you to download and play these games in your browser for free. And these costs continue to increase for us, that's why. And all the sites are now showing these ads, so if you want to continue to play free games, you're going to have to deal with the ads, unfortunately. It's better than watching a favorite television program. Just look at all the ads they make you watch for those. Create a Casual Gameplay account and stay logged in when you visit here, you will see fewer ads. -Jay]

I can't get to the second level in We Are the Robots. I finished the first level, but nothing happens when I click on the "play" button.

The Saddest Zombie left me quite sad after playing. The ending..... Well, I'm not quite sure what happened, but I feel sorry for the boy.

The guy in the bunny suit... classic.

Seriously, what is this guy on?

Reply

Regarding Saddest Little Zombie - I'm not sure what all the vomiting and extreme violence warning is all about. The game features a slightly macabre art style, but that's it. My girlfriend who is extremely sensitive to violence and gore played it through with me without any problems whatsoever, even applauded the eerie atmosphere.

@DAM: Would probably be easier to list the things Detarou isn't on...

Jay,
I didn't mean to sound like an ingrate or malcontent, probably just fishing to find out if the 2 ad thing was going to be a normal occurrence from now on. I realize that free gaming comes at a price, that being ads. I was just surprised that, after visiting your site for at least the past 5 or so years (has it been that long?) to find 2 ads instead of the normal 1.

Keep up the good work, and thanks for hosting.

[No worries, thanks for your understanding and for sticking with us all these years! We'll try to continue to keep ads at a minimum whenever and wherever possible, but the occasional 2 ads thing is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Please continue to support us by being patient with them, as it will help us to continue doing what we do here at JIG. Cheers. -Jay]
