  • MunekyunMunekyun - Remember Kissma? From the same creators of that particular brand of brain melting nonsense comes a game about trying to touch fingertips with a woman in a bookstore who would really rather you did not. Unfortunately, it's another simple, frantic-clicking excuse to showcase ridiculous and entertaining power ups, and developers Party Tencho don't get any points for that anymore. While the action is weirdly hypnotic, I would like to see the developers apply themselves to a game that wasn't basically "Kissma, but with slightly different graphics."
  • Secret DancerSecret Dancer - Although I find the concept of a shadowy little ballerina with ghostly laughter wanting you to follow her in a dark building late at night to be frankly freaky, apparently our good neighbours across the pond are used to this sort of thing. A security guard in London's Tate Modern Art gallery is alone one night when Edgar Degas's famous, creepy sculpture comes to life in this point-and-click game, and heartwarming messages aimed at young girls ensue. You'll spend more time actually watching video clips than you do playing, but if you're looking for something lighter and different, this may be your cuppa. Pip, pip, wot wot? Stereotypes, etc.
  • Secret ExitSecret Exit - While some of my fine fellow feathered reviewers were reminded of certain other games, for me it was a disappointingly bland presentation that landed this otherwise serviceable little puzzle/platformer here rather than within its own article. Use the clues to figure out how to get the apparently shy exit to appear in each of the thirty levels. I mean, I don't know why. Your little yellow protagonist doesn't look any happier if you do. But that's fine. I'm used to ingratitude. After all, I'm here every week, aren't I? (I'M JUST KIDDING OHGODDON'TLEAVEME!)
  • Async RacingAsync Racing - Similar to Hell is Other People, your opponents in this racing game are not cold, unfeeling processors, but the recordings of other players (like you!) who have played that track before. So while you could do your very best and blast flawlessly through the track in a performance that will make all future comers weep and curse your name, I find it much more rewarding to be a distraction by pinwheeling in no particular direction across the screen like a drunken ballerina. Yet another example of why you never ever want to play any sort of multiplayer with me.
  • Halo FlowerHalo Flower - It's been a while since we last checked in with Minoto, whose brain is like some wondrous, strange fairyland. This is another point-and-click game full of that signature silliness, featuring a sleeping elephant, a devil of some sort under glass, and a bunny with a remote control. The logic at work here does not resemble our Earth logic, which forces an "everything-and-the-kitchen-sink" approach to problem solving. But it's fun, cute, and will broaden your imagination in weird and interesting ways, like fertilizing a bonsai tree with nothing but pixie dust and ground up Hunter S Thompson memoirs.
  • TaneTane - [BONUS WEIRDNESS!] You know what? I don't even know. Less a game and more of an interactive, um, art... thing... where you try to find and click the next link, which is... Tane. If you reach the end you'll get a screen that provides a bit of explanation, but in some ways, this is more enjoyable if you pretend the collective insanity of the internet caused this to be spontaneously birthed from some strange shared consciousness of weirdoes. Bonus points if you recognise all-around rad dude KC Green's art within.

I am frustrated with level 25 of Secret Exit. I had to look at the tutorial to solve it but I cannot progress past that level because

it asks you to set your clock to 12:00. I am using a computer in my lab and do not have superuser access and cannot change the date and time settings

Secret Exit is fun (if mildly unfair). However I really do not appreciate the thing you need to do to pass the last level - it's unfair to ask that from the player, and to some players it will be impossible.

Other than that, a fun Karoshi-like experience.

Can't seem to get passed the Tane screen where there's a road, a cityscape and a pink Tane zooming in and out.

"Halo Flower" is a very cute game. It's one of the very few Point-and-Click games that I have finished without a walk through.
Otherwise these PAC games always totally crush my ego.

The Secret Dancer game seems a bit buggy. Sometimes the scene plays with sound only, and then when I completed the keypad puzzle, it replayed the scene leading up to it again... and again... and again.
Bit too much loading and viewing rather than interacting, but I like the idea of the story.

Would play Async Racing but the idea of Dora "pinwheeling" and totally frustrating the concept of multiplayer games made me laugh and I would only be tempted to do the same :)

Secret Exit and Halo Flower are quirky and fun.

Having same issue with Tane -- I can't get past the cityscape Weekend!!! "level." I've been defeated by an art thing.

Secret Exit was cute overall, but I agree with the complaints of MrProsser and baba44713. There are several reasons why users won't or can't finish the last level--MrProsser is using a computer on which he doesn't have access to change the time; I'm on a computer that will kick off timed work-related events if I change my system clock.

It seems strange that a game developer--somebody intimately familiar with the myriad ways in which people use and control their computer's system functions--would rely on messing with such a vital, basic system function for a game gimmick. No game would ask you to change a registry key to complete a level, or change your screensaver/power-saver settings for an achievement, so why ask players to change their system time/date to finish a game?

Async Racing - the other cars seem to be ghosts anyway, so pin-wheeling would not block the track and only waste your time. It's not a game for griefers, but is actually pretty tricky racing. Needs some work but is good. The concept is very sound.

Problems, you can't go back to the main menu once you race the world, you can't tell when you land after a jump (not enough shadow or effect to make it evident) and the cars are just a little too slippery.

I tried The Secret Dancer and I like its idea, but i don't like the game itself very much(take long time to load, boring)...
One thing: How can the woman be so calm when she found that the dancer *ran* away and sent her SMS??
lol when she said "come back. it isn't fun." cuz i found it very fun

Secret exit was really frustrating. The music was awesome, but the many of the level's solutions didn't feel logical to me at all. I still like the concept of such games though, having to think outside the box.

Tane gives me sweet recollections of that oddball project. Superbad is much older, so you won't find all the audio and loading of objects, just more strange images and bizarre hidden links.

I thought that the Secret Dancer was completely useless as a game. The

finding things

parts were boring and became tiring really quickly. If, however, you take it as an interactive fiction, it is much better. It is not all that great, but the story was somewhat interesting. It's too long, in my opinion, and some parts could be much better, but I think it's worth playing.

Secret Exit - Hints and walkthrough

Level O1 - JUST CLIMB:

Well... Just climb up to the door.

Level O2 - REVERSAL:

Press DOWN key to jump.

Level O3 - NOT SO SOLID AS IT SEEMS:

One grey block is slightly different.

You can jump through the darker grey block on the upper platform.

Level O4 - GO BACK WHILE YOU CAN:

Try to go forth, instead.

You can go through the darker grey blocks on the right.

Level O5 - PACMAN:

Follow the path.

Go to the last block on the right. Notice it's darker... How surprising.

Level O6 - FAST CLICKER:

'Fast Clicker'... just like 'Click fast', yes.

Quickly click a dozen times on the red button to make the door appear.

Level O7 - 1 LAP TO GO:

Is it a racing circuit?

Climb the wall on the left, go down on the right side and back to the starting point. The door appears.

Level O - :

Level O8 - MISSING:

Some blocks are invisible.

There is an invisible horizontal block bar where the word 'Missing' is written.

Level O9 - COME BACK SOON:

No need to try, the door is away. Go somewhere else and come back later.

Click 'exit' then come back in the level. The door is here.

Level 1O - STOP:

Forget the portal.

Just stop moving for a few seconds. The door will appear.

Level 11 - SHIFT THIS BLOCK:

It won't move. Think keyboard.

Go next to the block and press the SHIFT key. Another door will appear.

Level 12 - EXIT:

You will need the mouse.

Drag and drop the key to the door to open it.

Level 13 - LOWER:

Do not think 'lower in the level'. What can you lower in a flash game?

Lower the quality by clicking 'M' then 'L' at the bottom of the screen.

Level 14 - WHERE COULD I FIND SOME HELP?:

Obviously not in this level.

Exit the level, click 'walkthrough' in the menu then go back to the level.

Level 15 - EXIT:

There is no way to go through the wall. Use the portal.

Get back to level 10 and use the red portal.

Level 16 - DO YOU SPEAK GERMAN?:

You don't need to speak german! Read the sign carefully.

Read backwards: 'FIVE THEN FOUR THEN TWO'. Press 5, 4 and 2.

Level 17 - THE CORNERS OF MY HEART:

Forget the heart. We only need the corners.

Visit each corner of the level and the door appears.

Level 18 - THE RIGHT ANSWER IS NEAR YOU:

Focus on the directions.

Go right to fall from the first platform. Jump on the middle left platform and fall from the left. Fall between the lower platforms.

Level 19 - BRING MOUSE ITS FOOD:

Get the cheese...

No need to bring it back to the mouse. The door will appear before.

Level 2O - 1000 TON MAN:

Make the ground quake!

Go to the upper midlle platform and let you fall to the ground. The key will fall.

Level 21 - ENETR THE CODE:

You will not find the code in the level.

It's the last button of the menu. Click it.

The code is WYWH.

Level 22 - HIDE AND SEEK:

Hide!

Hide in the lower right corner.

Level 23 :

The background wall wants to go left.

Drag and drop the background to reveal the door.

Level 24 - WHAT IS TODAYS MENU:

What other kind of menu do you know?

Right click.

Level 25 - MEET ME AT MIDNIGHT:

It's not midnight yet, is it? Then you must wait. Or...

Change the computer time to midnight.

I'm glad level 25 was the last level of Secret Exit.

No way am I changing that.

It was fun otherwise - I love this kind of game.

Oh, I assumed level 25 was the last level since that's where Khomille's walkthrough ended. But Dora said 30 levels. Whaaaaa! I want to play the last five.

I enjoy out-of-the-box puzzles, and secret exit got quite some unique ideas in it I like.

However, theres a limit of a box I want a game to respect, I'm not going to skew my system for it.

In Halo Flower, I too was initially confused by the "it is a bullet that unites with the satan", but it makes sense once you actually fire it.

Well, as much as a bullet that has been electrically fused (by a catfish!) with a kitten/grim reaper combo can make sense.

The description I liked was "Sections of the machine. It is not useful." -- Room escape genera in a nutshell, that is.

Tane.
Sioltane level. I thought it was hysterical.

Totally black and white with melodramatic nostagic kind of music. It comes into focus like one of those sentimental japanese games.
Drops of ink in time with the piano strokes and a single elegant word.
"TANE"
I busted up laughing. It was just too much!

But can anyone tell me what silomonger's domain IS? He says its history is too terrifying to write on the page. I googled it and got nothing.
Is he just BSing us all?

Munekyun was weird and kinda stupid, as expected. I beat Secret Exit a while back - though I was able to do the whole clock-changing thing, I still didn't like it. Async Racing is silly and fun. And Tane was... interesting, in a good way.
