Ladder

MeaghanIn a room with no windows, no air ducts, and no communication system to demand release how in the world are you supposed to escape? If you're in Ladder, a short and sweet room escape game by Tateita, the key to freedom is a handy dandy ladder...and an actual key.

LadderHover over the left or right edge of the screen to decide which direction you want to turn and interact with the environment by clicking on the things you want to examine further (or for inventory items click "about item").

Luckily, if you're a fan of straight forward escapes, this is the right game for you. Sure, the cursor doesn't change to accommodate lazy searching but the game also doesn't require any frantic internet searches to decipher esoteric references. While the interior design is unabashedly subdued this game is remarkably enjoyable and gratifying.

  1. Turn right to face the wall with the three pipes and look into the shortest pipe to retrieve the blue key.

  2. Back up and turn right to face the wall with the blue compartment. Use the blue key to open it then pick up the hammer and the paper.

  3. Turn left to face the wall with the pipes once more. Zoom in on the bottom of the medium length pipe and use the hammer on the pipe bottom. Pick up the pump.

  4. Back up and take note of the pipes: Small, long, medium with a star to the right of the medium pipe. Compare to the piece of paper in your inventory. Turn right twice to face the wall with the red door. Press on the door to zoom in on the button pad.

    5. Spoiler

    1. Small= far left button, button 1.

    2. Long= middle button. button 2

    3. Medium= Far right button, button 3

    4. Code: 1, 2, 1, 3, 2, 2.

  5. Click on the door to open it and grab the ladder. Move back and turn left twice until you're facing the wall with the pipes. Place the ladder on top of the long pipe.

  6. Climb up the ladder and retrieve the handle then go back down. Remember to pick the ladder back up when done.

  7. Turn right twice to face the wall with the yellow compartment and red door. Zoom in on the yellow compartment.Place the handle on the yellow dot on the wall and press on it when attached.Press the button. Move back and go left twice until you face the purple doorway. Go into the other room.

  8. Examine the tank of water and use the pump on the water to fill it up.

  9. Leave the room and turn until you're facing the cell bars. Zoom in on the dirty spot on the other side of the wall.

  10. Use the pump on the dirty spot to reveal a set of shapes.

    11. Spoiler

    1. Count the amount of points for each shape.

    2. First shape starting at the left: 4.

    3. Second shape: 9.

    4. Third shape: 5.

    5. Fourth shape: 3.

    6. You will use this code in that order (4, 9, 5, 3) on the blue safe in the other room.

  11. Return to the second room and place the ladder under the blue safe.

  12. Climb up the ladder and enter the code you retrieved from the shapes.

  13. Open the safe and press the red button. The door to the room will close.

  14. Grab the ladder once more then turn to the closed door. Pick up the saw and the lockbox.

  15. Use the saw on the ladder. You have created a single pole.

  16. Turn to the shut door and use the pole to press the button on the outside and to open the door.

  17. Click on the saw and view it more closely by hitting the about item button.

  18. Take note of the four shapes.

    1. Count how many portions each circle has within it.

    2. Circle One: 3.

    3. Circle Two: 2.

    4. Circle Three: 8.

    5. Circle Four: 5.

  19. Use the code to open the lockbox in your inventory.

  20. You obtain the green key.

  21. Use the green key on the lock of the cell bars to escape.

Short, but sweet. Not one of the best escape games i've played, but this one i could finish without a walkthrough :)

Still needed the walkthrough for the initial part and the pole :) Clearly need more practice in Escape games hehe. Thanks for the rec - it was good fun!
