MeaghanEscape from the Room with Three MedalsThe old saying "less is always more," is being put to the test in the latest escape the room game by Hottategoya. In Escape from the Room with Three Medals you will prove your clicking prowess by looking through a sparsely furnished room for the medals that will assist in your inevitable freedom. To look more closely at an item or pick it up, just click it. There's an inventory bar at the bottom of your screen with objects that can be accessed at all times. Click on an item then hit about item to get a closer look.

Arrow puzzles and lock boxes await both the casual and expert escape artist alike. The puzzles are cleverly plotted and will make you smack your forehead in a Homer Simpson-esque "Doh!" moment upon solving. Not only is this latest installment in the Hottategoya catalogue a rewarding brain teaser, but it's also quite the delight for a modest escape game.

Escape from the Room with Three Medals

  1. There are only three objects you will get immediately.

  2. These items are located in the drawers in the cabinet to the left of the only door.

  3. In each individual drawer is a paper that will assist you in solving the different puzzles in the room.

Opening the Three Digit Lockbox

  1. The paper in your inventory that will help you solve this puzzle is the paper with the red and blue images showing the lightning bolts, swords, and stars.

  2. Go to the two pictures hanging on the wall showing the same images. For each line shown on the hint paper (i.e. lightning bolt-lightning bolt) you will need to find which row has the red image and blue image in the same exact spot.

    • Lightning Bolt-Lightning Bolt: Third column, fourth row down.

    • Sword-Star: First column, second row down.

    • Lightning Bolt-Star: First column, third row down.

  3. After finding the spots click on the paper in your inventory with all the numbers on the paper. Look at the spots where you found each symbol and that is the number for that line.

    • 8-1-3

  4. Go to the three digit box and enter the code. Click on the cover to open it and pick up the medal.

Opening the Four Digit Lockbox

  1. Look at the paper in your inventory that spells out LUDV.

  2. Go to the painting that has the flower, sun, star, and plus sign.

  3. Take a closer look at the shapes and how they're connected.

    • Each shape is made by an individual letter.

      • The flower is made up of D's. There are 8 D's.

      • The sun is made up of L's. There are 7 L's.

      • The star is made up of V's. There are 5 V's.

      • The plus sign is made up of U's. There are 4 U's.

  4. Go to the lockbox that requires four digits to open. Enter the numbers in the order of LUDV.

    • 7-4-8-5.

  5. Hit the button and click on the top to open the lid. Pick up the medal.

Opening the Arrow Puzzle Box

  1. On one of the tables are four separate squares with different arrows.

  2. You need to combine all the boxes to form one square that's has 3x3 rows.

  3. Start with the square that has the red arrow. Find the other square that has arrows pointing in the same direction as the square with the red arrow.

  4. Continue shifting the squares until they make the one square.

    1. Line One: Left, up, down.

    2. Line Two: Down, up, right.

    3. Line Three: Up, left, right.

  5. Click on the top of the box to remove the lid. Pick up the final medal.

Escape!

A nice little puzzle. Couldn't figure out the arrow puzzle and had to copy the code for that one. :/

That was satisfying. Simple, short, and perfect. Although either I'm getting better at these escapes, or that was really easy. I wasn't stumped in the slightest.

Had to use photoshop for the one of the puzzles -- that was a first for me for an escape game. Turns out to be very simple once I used that. Cute simple game.

Can someone explain the arrow puzzle a little bit more? I'm just not getting it.

Nevermind, I got it! Guess I shouldn't try solving these things on an empty stomach.

@nerdypants

If you could explain the arrow puzzle to me, I'd be grateful.

[The arrow puzzle is a bit tricky to explain fully in words. Ultimately you have the four boxes on the table. You need to take those four boxes and merge them together to make one main box that is three rows by three rows. The easiest way to start is by starting with the box that has the red arrow because you already know from looking at the puzzle box that the red arrow is going to be in the top left corner. Now looking at the little box shows there are only two rows and you know you need a third, what you do is look for another puzzle that would be able to ultimately fit onto the red arrow and the arrow next to it and have the middle arrow be that correct direction. Then you just repeat with all the other squares as well until it's connected and there is one box. It's tricky but once you have the first row down it's easier from there. Hope this helps!-Meagha]

WOW! This one was a doozy! The letter puzzle was the most simple to me, But I actually had to get a hint for the red/blue puzzle. I thought I'd be ashamed of myself for not knowing to

find the place on both pictures where the indicated shape is in the same position

, but that actually was the furthest thing from my mind. After the hint it made more sense. I still HATE having to get hints. The arrow puzzle actually clicked right away but it took a bit of work to solve. I took a photo on my cell phone of the four arrow boxes and with clever twisting and turning got it on my first try. Very nice puzzler.

Could I get some more help on the arrow puzzle?

"The easiest way to start is by starting with the box that has the red arrow because you already know from looking at the puzzle box that the red arrow is going to be in the top left corner."

To me that means the red arrow in the upper left corner should be the same as the red arrow from the 4 boxes. But from looking at the spoiler I see that it is not.

@Box Jockey:

For my explanation, I will refer to the four 4-arrow sections on the table as panels:

Since there is only one 4-arrow panel with a red arrow in it, that one corresponds to the upper-left corner of the puzzle. Rotate the panel (either draw it or do it mentally) until the red arrow is in the upper-left, matching the location of the red arrow on the puzzle. The arrow directions on the panel are fixed, so you now need to change the arrow directions on the puzzle to match it. Once that's done, you can then start filling in the rest of the puzzle arrow directions by matching up the rest of the panels together.

Wow, that was pretty tough for a game so short.

The arrows stumped me until I realized that

the arrows don't form a path. Spin the 4x4 blocks and overlap like sides together, ultimately forming a 3x3 grid.

Nice puzzles.
