Escape from the Catacombs

Also free for iOS and Android, Pine Studio's Escape from the Catacombs has locked you up and (presumably) thrown away the key, stranding you with a bunch of skeletons, cryptic clues, and... your fist. Okay, so the icon in your inventory is to allow you to "use force" on things, but I think we know what the funnier descriptor is. Most items that display text when you mouse over them can be clicked on to interact, and you can try combining any items you're carrying by clicking first one, then the other. Some objects really blend into the background due to the game's ominous atmosphere, so if you're stuck, you may want to double-check and make sure there's nothing useful lurking in the shadows. Escape from the Catacombs strikes a nice balance between logic puzzles and simply using the correct items where they need to be, though not every solution is instinctively logical. Despite that, this escape is pretty short, leaving you free to escape your faceless captors into the night... until next time!

Pretty sure it's a bug, I didn't encounter that

Stuck already with

lantern, bucket (filled with water), bricks, cobweb (1/3), and "Y" stick

Don't understand

the signs with letters and numbers or the scroll

Assuming I need, but can't find

oil, more cobwebs, more bricks?

Anyone willing to give me a push in the right direction? Please?

To come further, you will have to:

Use the stick on the shelves in the left view.

Never mind.

one well placed "y" stick and I'm off and running

Thanks Questioner. Your comment appeared a bit too late, but I do appreciate the help.

That's nto a colorblind friendly game at all. The first puzzle is impossible to solve for me because those colors are stupidly chosen.

Seriously, what makes it difficult to have Black/White/Grey/Red/Yellow/Blue ? Make them bright colors so that even people with sever coulorblindness can discriminate them, add a description of the color when you hover over the buttons or juste have a "colorblind" option substituting colors for shapes or something.

I'm sorry I'm venting here but color-based puzzles are far too ubiquitous in escape games and it's always a hassle. And in this game it's just one minute in, it's infuriating.

Oh, I know it's not deliberate and I usually just move on to another game or try to guess and I do understand that people with normal vision don't think about it because colors are something obvious to them.

But yeah, it's frustrating. And, damn, it occurs in 7-8% of the male population, it's a mystery why developers and designers aren't more aware of it.

Hi Fuzis,

Thanks for the feedback. Like Dora said it wasn't malicious in any way. So far we haven't noticed those problems in our other games. We're a small team and we don't always do things perfectly :). But, we certainly strive to be better all the time. We're looking for ways to ensure that our future games don't have this problem.

Why was

1788 "B" on the last puzzle?

Just wondering, thanks!

I am completely lost in colors puzzle

I had no idea either, until I looked at the numbers again.

The years go 1785 - 1792, A - F.
If A is 1785 and C is 1787, hen 1786 must be B.

... though the year on the puzzle is 1788...

Which would mean it should be D. Unless the 3228 numbers before the letters mean something.

I only knew it was B because I looked at the walkthrough.

Am I the only one wondering who lit those torches ? Someone's job is to enter the dungeon daily, light the torches, and then lock up all the areas again, and leave. That's a weird job.

Also, the hotspots to click specific objects are a bit random. Clicking any part of a large object (like the Y-stick) should be good enough to collect it.

It does say to be so, but it isn't. You can use it as you should ;)
But indeed, text is a bug

I got that issue too. :\

Wlakthrough

Start off by grabbing the lantern next to the well and the brick from the skeleton. Go to the Hallway and take the spider web above the skeleton. Grab the brick on the ground, the Y-stick and the bucket. Use the Y-Stick on the shelves to open them. Fill the bucket with water from the well and use it on the dirt covering the color puzzle.
On the back wall in the Hallway, you’ll notice a scroll. Each arrow on it represents how far from each other the colors are. For example blue will be 2 buttons below red since we have two arrows, pointing down between them. The end result should be

red on the top, middle button, purple in the top right corner, yellow on the left, orange in the middle, green on the middle right and blue at the bottom.

Once you’re done with the color puzzle, enter the room behind the shelves. Grab both spider webs, a bone from the skeleton, the bowl from the table, brick on the ground and the paddle in the right corner. Combine the 3 spider web pieces with the Y-stick and use it to get the key from the wall. Go through the doors and get the oil tank and the last brick. Use the oil tank on the lantern and then the lantern on a torch to light it up. Put the bricks on the holes in the wall and go inside the passage.
The answer to the chest puzzle is hidden within the signs on the walls. Each year has a letter assigned to it, with 2.A.1785 being the first one. Simply put the years in an alphabetical order, according to the wall signs. The end result should be

1785-A, 1788-B, 1787-C, 1789-E, 1792-F.

Use force on the bread to make it into crumbs and use it to lure out the mouse in the hallway. Use the bowl to catch the mouse. Go back to the alligator room. Behind the chain, you’ll notice a cracked brick. Use the knife on it to make a hole. Stick the bone inside and attach the chain to it. Then throw the mouse behind the opened bars.
Lastly, use the bucket to take the water out of the boat and then the Paddle to sail away.
