JohnBdonaroom2-1.jpgDona Room 2 is the second room escape game from Japanese flash designer Noaki Nakashima. The game is every bit as quirky and amusing as the original Dona Room and offers more great point-and-click gameplay. The entire game takes place in your kitchen where a note from your mother says you must find a snack before you can leave. Unfortunately the potato chips and cake are locked away, so you must find items and solve puzzles in order to get to them. The game has a little Japanese text but is completely playable without knowledge of the language. Check the comments below for some rough translations.

Use the hand-arrows at the bottom of the screen to move around the room and click on areas to zoom in and interact. You have quick access to your inventory by clicking the icon at the top of the screen, but be sure to switch the item bar off when you aren't using it, as it tends to hide important areas of the screen.

The puzzles in Dona Room 2 center on deciphering clues to come up with codes to unlock doors, cabinets, etc. You'll also swipe a few items and use them in fairly logical ways. There are some really unique puzzles to solve in this game, but I certainly won't spoil the fun here. As with most games of this genre, keep some note paper handy to jot down hints as you come across them.

Dona Room 2 is a quirky and extremely enjoyable point-and-click game. Come for the great puzzle solving, stick around for the chips and cake.

Play.

Perfect timing!!! I was just feeling the craving of a point and click game!

Reply

Here's a very rough translation of some of the text in the game:

The text at the opening of the game is simply a note from your mother. She says to eat a snack before you leave the kitchen.

A note near the end of the game:

The note when you open the cabinet: It's from your mother. She says "The cake in the refrigerator is mine. I'll kill you if you eat it. P.S. Brush your teeth after eating a snack."

Text after you beat the game:

Congratulations! Did you enjoy it? Expect another game soon "Great Escape from a Bathroom".

Number of times you clicked the ice pillow:

Number of times you tried to open the cupboard with the chips:

(unsure of the third one)

Number of times you tried to eat the cake:

wow, this is really tough!!! I don't know if it would help if I could read Japanese, but I only have a few items and can't figure out what to do with them.

Here is what I have, I have no Idea what to do next...

mysterious note?!?, fork, eggs. I also saw a website url that takes me to a website that is completely in Japanese.

Reply

The third one is how many times you killed the mouse....by feeding the cake to him

Reply

Is there a way to get the chip things? i could only get the cake :( but the mouse looked quite content :) (there was a whole discussion about whether the mouse was happy or dead at the lazylaces forum for this game...)

Reply

Ummm... well, I've done 2 major things:

I put the eggs in the water to see that the one that floats is has a number on it, and a message in the fridge indicates that this correlates to a symbol.

I also found out using the glasses in the cabinet and a message in the pot what X is equal to.

Also,

does anyone know what the importance of the light on the kitchen stove is?

Reply

Behind the glass cupboard, there are some more items, though I don't seem to be able to take the key and the pizza slicer.

I also found the lightbulb and the pot.

Reply

I finished it! All by myself! This is the very first time that I've managed to finish one of these without any hints at all. I'm very proud of myself. Great game.

Reply

Hi Hassle free
I find the game difficult too. But maybe this'll help you:

you can get the inlet of the rice- cooking machine in the cupboard by clicking on the top

As everyone knows you can find out old eggs between fresh ones, by putting them into water.
Put the inlet of the rice- cooking machine in the water basin and let the water flow, then put the eggs into the water

Here is what I found

note, fork, inlet of rice- cooking device, eggs, light bulb
I know where to put the light bulb, but can't see how this'll help

Reply

Oh no!! No spoilers! I'm gonna have to continue searching then... But i've been turning in circles for a while now... Ok if anyone has finished it yet, I have

the note, a fork, eggs and a cauldron. I can also see a key and a pizza cutter behind the cupboard, but I can't get to them. Also, I found that inscription that says that the square is equal to "old", and the one about the cups and glasses, that led me to x=4.

And then I'm stuck...
Help!!

Reply

Oh yeah! and I also

found a light bulb that I placed into the fan above the oven. This way whe I turn off the light, the oven is lighted up. I just don't know what that changes... lol

Reply

Found something!

There's a note stuck on the front of the oven, at the right of the little grey "thing" (bar, plaque, cover, patch, whatever). Use the fork to get it out, it is a note to use with the padlock in the fridge... Just don't know the code yet...

Reply

Thanks to Herk, also found out about

the number on the egg. So the code for the fridge's padlock is xx49...

Reply

And what's with the mouse? Do we have something to do with it? I scared it but that's all I could do...

Reply

Ok, i seem to have killed the mouse, and didnt get the potato chips. Is there more than 1 ending?

Reply

Hmmm... so many questions... Please someone!!! Finish it and help that porr little Rose! LoL

Reply

Got some more...

With the note out, the drawer is unstuck and you can get a grate.

The grate could block a hole...

The mouse knocks over the pizza cutter.

The pizza cutter gives you the code to the safe.

The safe holds a corkscrew.

The corkscrew opens the drawer with no knob.

The wax paper from the drawer decodes the message on the table

Question:

How do you get the key off of the mouse's tail?

Reply

Does anyone know what the green drawing on the table is? And how did you kill the mouse?!?

Reply

what happens when lights are out.....

once the light bulb is in the oven you can see (when the lights are out) that one of the buttons on the over head part of the stove has a light inside it it might be smart to click it

Reply

Careful, the code changes every time - you have to do your own work here I'm afraid!

the mouse:

he keeps running away...what can you do to stop him?

try blocking his mousehole

As for the light in the oven fan

what happens when the other lights go out? look carefully...

Reply

ok rose, i got a little more...

If you use the fork to get the note out of the oven, you can then open the door in the front of the oven to get a grate. Use the grate to block the mouse from going in his hole and it will knock the pizza cutter down

Reply

the green drawing on the table has to be used with an item you find in the drawer with no knob

i beat the game but i'm not sure i did the spoiler right

Reply

ok rose, i got a little more...

If you use the fork to get the note out of the oven, you can then open the door in the front of the oven to get a grate. Use the grate to block the mouse from going in his hole and it will knock the pizza cutter down

Reply

Rose, about that padlock ...

I don't think that the two numbers you have are correct.

For the egg number (coloured square), usually the line beneath the number indicates it's intended position, so in this case it's a 6, not a 9, ne?

For the dinnerware number (the X), if you look inside the rice cooker you'll find a simple formula: x=teacup+wineglass+glass ... so from looking at the cabinet, unless my math is incredibly faulty, this would equal 6 as well, right?

To give you a hint about the green drawing on the table, it's the number for the star. Look around the drawers by the sink.

Reply

i beated the game yesterday and i think i remember what to do, not sure if the spoiler tab is okay

the drawing on the table needs to be used with an item, have you opened the safe?

Reply

Okay, thanks to some earlier spoilers, I managed to plug a little further in:

After getting the note from the oven, you can click on that frontal oven piece again, and it slides out; you get an oven grate... thing.

Then:

Go to the mousehole, use the oven grate on the mousehole.

Click the mouse, it will run behind the cabinet, giving you the pizza cutter.

The pizza cutter is used in the oven; rolling it on the diagram should give you numbers to match the symbols. And this is where I get messed up; if you start with the pizza arrow pointing where it says "Start" you get two different numbers that are 0. Am I reading this right?

Reply

The mouse:

After you get the note from the oven, you can open the drawer. It has a grate which you can put in front of the mousehole. Scare the mouse and you'll get a pizza cutter

Reply

Note to all: In case you haven't figured out yet, the value of the symbols in the game appear to change each time you play. So don't try using someone else's solution. ;)
A small tip to build upon Rose's most recent discovery:

When you obtain the note, there is another item immediately available to pick up...

at the same location.

Reply
Hassle Free September 6, 2006 5:57 PM

Rose, he probably:

fed it cake

also to do something besides scare the mouse:

if you look in the place that you found that note on the oven, you will find a grate...

Reply

Well i found a like broiler thingy

in that slot where you use the fork to get the note

dont know what its for though anyone know?

Reply

Apparently the use for the oven overhead lightbulb thingy is:

that, if you turn the light off, then click the overhead thing where the lightbulb is, one of the areas behind the broken buttons above the lightbulb should be lit up. Click it, and it reveals a message. It seems to relate to the position of the knobs on the front of the oven.
Also, it seems the passcodes are different, because the number I have for X is 7, and for the filled in square, 2.

Reply

Follow-up to last post (when it's approved):

I WAS doing it right. Start the pizza roller with the arrow on the roller touching the arrow in the oven diagram, then move it left. The number corresponding to a symbol is the number the rolls over it.

I'm not sure if the numbers are randomized or not, but I got black circle = 0, white triangle = 9, white square = 0. That makes the safe combo 009.

Reply

I got the pizza cutter!

okay, so when you get the fork-you go to the stove, use the fork to wedge out the note. Then when that is open, click on the grate to get it as an item. Go back to the mouse, and use the grate to cover his mouse hole, the scare him. He'll panic and run behind the cabinet and push it out.

Now I just have to figure out how to use it...

Reply

Hi,

i haven't got the cake and dont know how to get the lightbulb but i have managed to fin the

cork screw

dont know what to do with it though

Reply

Ok nevermind i found the purpose of the broiler.

put the broiler up against the wall where the mouse hole is then click the mouse. Poor little thing runs adn out comes your very own handy pizza cutter..not sure how to get the key though because it gets stuck to the mouses tail.

Reply

Right.... Funny ending. Moral: Eat Healthy! :-P

Reply

I must be the only one who missed this, but

where is the code to solve for X? I have clicked all OVER the rice cooker where you got the pot, inside and out.... is it somewhere else?

Reply

I have some hint about the triangle, probably having to do something with the oven, but I don't know what to do with it. I've placed the knobs on the oven in the position indicated by the hint.

Reply

Sorry about that Rose, I had no idea the numbers were randomized. Please disregard my last comment. =P

Has anyone figured out how to get rid of the stuff around the gas valve? Or how to turn the gas valve, if I'm going about this the wrong way? *smiles*

Lobito:

If you've already taken the pot, once the lid is raised on the rice cooker, you should be able to see a little bit of red in the left-hand corner. Click on it, and you'll get an inside view of the cooker ... or at least that's how it was during my playthrough. =D

Reply

To Lobito:

If you look carefully, you should see small red dots or lines on the inside of the rice cooker. Click in that general area, and you should be able to look inside.

Reply

Ryuko:

Oh good lord, thank you so much! :P Stupid pixels. Otherwise, I've LOVED this puzzle...

Yay! I've got cake!

Reply

ok I'm pretty sure im confused by this pizza cutter...makes no sense how to determine the numbers.

Reply

Pfeew... Finally finished it... Well I had fun!

Thanks to all for your help!

By the way, the codes ARE different every game, so don't bother trying the other's...

Reply

Where is the lightbulb?

Reply

Yay! Finished.

Looks like you were never supposed to get the chips. And if anyone's still wondering how to get the key off the mouse's tail, kill the mouse.

...

The cake is poisoned. :p

Reply

I'm so confused..
My padlock number should be right...

The Stove light thing shows what looks like 3 eggs, the wax paper told me what the star is 5, I added the tea cups and wine glasses and subtracked the other cup, and the number on the egg was 1...
So, mine should be 3541
Right?

Reply

One point that I thought was a nice touch from a programming view (although perhaps irritating from a puzzle-solving view, if you're having trouble finding stuff) is that...

you can't brute force / exhaustive search the combination on the lock. If you, for example, try to use all 10 possible combinations after only discovering the clues for three of the four numbers, or the 100 possible with two of four, the game won't let you unlock the lock.

Reply
dancingyel September 6, 2006 6:41 PM

Ok, this is probably pretty stupid, but where is the mouse? I can't find it at all.

Reply

I have everything but the light bulb. Could someone tell me where to find it?

Reply

The mouse is

to the left of the cabinet with the potato chips.

The light bulb is

under the table when looking towards the door and poster.

Reply

I kinda feel a bit foolish about this, but I made it through most of the game, but I can't figure out how to:

turn on water

and

figure out stove knobs purpose

If you can please help me out Thanks :)

Reply

Great game, took me maybe half an hour with some help from the hints.

Naymlis:

To figure out the code on the pizza cutter, place the arrow where the drawing says start, then roll the cutter to the right.

Reply

where is the lightbulb? i've done everything else, that's the only thing i can't find

Reply

Ok found something thats interesting.

Well, after you find the corkscrew from the safe, use it on the drawer with no handle. You then may be able to open it. When opening it you will find a clear sheet of plastic with stuff written on it. Go to the green thing on the table and look at the sheet of paper from your items list. You then will find the number for the star I believe.

after putting the light bulb

in the oven light and getting the three circles that seem to correspond to the oven knobs m, x and z- does anyone know how to get the dark upside-down triangle from this information? ive tried counting the number of clicks produced to get the knobs in a matching position but that isnt it, any ideas?

Reply

How to use pizza cutter (took me ages to figure this out):

The pizza cutter has the combination for the safe above the sink, and the code is under the oven.
I made the mistake of thinking you matched up the arrows with the segments on the cutter.
You actually place the cutter on the start arrow, and roll it along the floor, and take readings at each arrow.

Reply

after the mouse get the pizza cutter for you, did you guys check back on the mouse again? coz i did and

it got a key at it's tail!!!! i'm not sure what that key is for, coz i couldn't get the key since it's now running to the back of the cabin

i just accidently reloaded the game and found that the letters on the cooker change randomly... hmm still dont know what to do with them

I don't think the mouse is dead. He's happily lying on his back, wagging his tail, like he just ate a big meal.

Reply

Loved it! But had to use spoilers 'sigh' someday I will conquor it alone. Could not find the light bulb for ages.
By the way, I do not think the mouse is dead but belly up from eating so much. On my screen the mouse's tail is switching back and forth, which tends to lead me to belileve he is alive and very much contented.

foxinthesn0w September 6, 2006 8:46 PM

got it!

hint

its numbers on the cooker knobs, not letters..

answer

when you turn the cooker knobs to the way it indicates, it makes out a sum, the first time i loaded the game i had 3x2 but it looked far to much like m x z, confusing...
but when i accidently reloaded it was 7 + 1, it looked alot clearer and i got it straight away, the rest is simple

Reply

If you're having trouble turning on the water, turn off your inventory panel. Can't reach it otherwise.
I wasted 10 minutes on that.

What I can't figure out is how to look above the stove when the lights are off. It won't let me look at anything but the stove itself.

Reply

So let me get this straight...

You win the game if you let the mouse gorge itself on the cake? I reached that point and thought I screwed up and had to start over

Oh man, I wish I read japanese.

For the most part, I liked it. Some of the puzzles were kinda clever, like the pizza cutter and the eggs. Even the knobs one was kinda cool (though when I repeated the game the second time, they started out in their correct positions). If the ending I got IS the ending though, I'm a bit disappointed in the resolution - it just doesn't doesn't FEEL finished (though being able to read the text might explain things more).

I still want my chips, darn it. ;)

Reply

I am totally lost with the light bulb/ lights out.

I can't see anything unusual at the stove when I turn the lights out. I tried following the spoiler, but I don't see any circles to go by or anything.

I finished the game pretty much by myself except I couldn't figure out

the little light above the stove thingy and the red works inside ricecooker by myself.

. I think what they should've done is to make the light a little brighter because it was a very small dot on my 16" screen and I couldn't even see it after playing the game like 6 times until I finally gave up and looked at the walkthrough, and even then, it was only a speck. Otherwise, wonderful game. I'm still disappointed that I couldnt' get the chips. (can't they just give you a hammer and break the glass cabinet?) And what's the point of the banana?

Reply

Hey! I'm stuck on the second lock.

My code is triangle, star, X, square. The triagle thing is the cooker - 7 + 1. Star is 6. X is cups x (wineglass and glass) which is 9. Square is old egg - 6.

So this means my code is 8696. But it doesn't work. Somebody help me :'(

Reply

I wonder if there will be a

pillow to fluff

in the next game too...

Reply

I'm so confused. I've got all the codes,

the oven one is 3+1, the rice cooker says mugs - wine glasses + normal glasses = X, the old egg says 0, and the star is 0. the paper says the code is Triangle Star X Square, but the code doesn't work. what am i doing wrong? Any ideas?

The mouse is not dead! He's happy and full. That's why he's smiling and his tail is wagging. He's not dead... lmao pretty confusing game though.

Guest, you have to be facing the oven to see the light ;)

Interesting comment, Geer:

One point that I thought was a nice touch from a programming view (although perhaps irritating from a puzzle-solving view, if you're having trouble finding stuff) is that you can't brute force / exhaustive search the combination on the lock. If you, for example, try to use all 10 possible combinations after only discovering the clues for three of the four numbers, or the 100 possible with two of four, the game won't let you unlock the lock.

Personally, I take the opposite view:

If I were really in this situation, with three of the digits needed to open the lock, I wouldn't shrug my shoulders and continue searching everywhere for clues to the last digit; At that point there are only 10 possibilities! IMHO, if game designers want to do stuff like this, they ought to at least make some sort of penalty for getting it wrong as a rationale; i.e. Trying the wrong combination detonates a lethal explosive.

Reply

EMDF: I was facing the oven. The "light" you have to click on is microscopic and dark grey, barely discernable from the blackness which surrounds it, even after resorting to the walkthrough and knowing what to look for.
Mindless pixel hunts like that ruin decent games.

You will have to get the cake first and feed it to the mouse to distract it. This comes much later.
To use the pizza cutter, you have to place the arrow where it says start, and then roll it backwards, nothing the numbers that appear at the arrow for each marked shape.

I got stuck and you guys helped a lot. I like these games. :)

Hi, I already passed the gam but, i never could get out of the room, i only killed to the mouse and get the note with the banana. I really want to know how can I get the chips? and get another ending... or... Is it only one end?

The end letter reads

I'm sorry for locking up so many places. I have to do it because dad just can't stop his snacking.
Because you are so forgetful I'll write write it down one more time. The cake in the refrigerator belongs to mom.
If you eat I'll kill you.
From mom
PS. don't forget to brush your teeth after you have your snacks.

so has anyone proved this theory about winning the game by getting the chips instead? doesn't sem likely, unless we could find a screwdriver... ;) i almost died of laughter at the "end":
# of times ice pillow was beaten: 38 (i *really* thought that if i just tried it ONE more time.... :P)
# of attempts to eat potato chips: 58 (i guess i was trying to just rip those pieces of wood right off of there....!)
i guess for me, it's less about the point, and more about the click! anyways, fun game. gotta love brainteasers.

Well i tried to pass this game and I made it (call it a miracle...)this are the steps:
1- Go to the refrigerator and get the eggs.
2- Go to the cupboard and click on the rice cooker, if you click again you get the pot.
3- Put the pot under the sink an turn on the water, one egg floats, that is the older egg. If you remenber in the refrigerator it says that the full square is equal to that circle that says older in the middle. The circle is the egg so the number that's on the floating egg on the por is the number of the full square.
4- Go to the rice ccoker again and click on the red part, it shows you an equation that gives you the number that equals X, look at the cupboard and count the number of teacups, wine glasses (the taller ones) regular glasses, then solve the equation using that numbers and you got X.
5- get the fork behind of the cupboard by the right side.
6- turn to the poster on the wall and look under the table for the lamp and put the lamp on the sided hole or whatever that is, on that thing over the oven and turn of the lights of the room, click on that tiny yellow spot on the place that stood the thing over the oven, and again clik on the yellow spot, were before the lights were turn off stood the cables and you get another puzzle.
7- turn on the lights again and go to the button of the oven, put them in place like the puzzle before said and you get the mumber of reverted full triangle.
8- use the fork to get a piece of paper off that drawer between the button of the oven (on the right side you'll se a white thing that's the paper click on that), it gives you another equasion that is the key of the locker on the fridge.
9- open that drawer after you took the paper and get 1 object, that object is to close the mouse hole, on the left side of the cupboard, put it there, click on the mouse and wait untill he pushes a wheel thing (it looks like that things to cut pizza), get that thing.
10-open the drawer under the oven and you got a circle withe simbols... well all you got to do is pass the thing to cut pizza over it... but you got to put the arrow on the pizza wheel ( sorry my english is not to good cause i'm portuguese...) on the star, roll that thing over and when it stays in front of a arrow take the number that is the match for one of the simbols (full circle, triangle and square) then you got the numbers for the safe in the drawers above the sink... the simbols aren't the order as in the circle puzzle so watch carefully. open the safe and you get a cork screw... use it on the drawer that as no handle under the sink, uset there and you got a plastic with some draws above it.
11- Use the plastic with the draws on the draw on the table and you got the number that matches the star.
12- go to the fridge and put the code matching with the simbols that were given to you in that paper that you took on the oven drawer (the one in the middle of the buttons) and that will open the refrigerator drawer.
13- take the cake and give it to the mouse... and while he is eating take the key from is tail.
14- use the key on the cupboard drawer... read the note and don't mind the banana...
15- go back to the mice to see him sleeping or wahtever he is doing in the cake, click on it and you're finished.
Good luck and enjoy.

if you've put the eggs in the pot in the sink and filled the pot up with water one of the eggs floats to the top. Only rotten eggs float. The floating egg has a number on it.

Okay, I'm at the light and stove part, and I've read the hints, I click the little button on top of the stove after I've inserted the light bulb and turned off the lights. Everyone says look at circles, I have no circles to look at. HELP!!! Please and thanks!

Thanks jan.jan! I had tried that before, I guess I wasn't clicking on the perfect spot! LOL! I was getting so frustrated, hah. Man, that poor mouse. I don't think he was poisoned, I think he just gorged himself into obvlivion, you know, how we do on Thanksgiving, you're happy, but pooped, ya know? Great game, I had fun. I did this one almost completely on my own (yay me) - I almost always have to look at the spoilers when I get stuck (no patience).

Please help. How do you find out what square equals? I'm so confused.

Er? I found only two of the numbers, the first and the third - (actually, I found four but forgot about two of them) - but I brute-forced the lock easily. I remember the second number was 2... Was I just lucky to have a low enough number to avoid whatever prevents you from attempting brute force? Was it because the numbers I found were out of sequence? There's nothing wrong with trying to prevent people from forcing the lock open, but you'd think it would make more sense to only include one that works. =/

I gave up on this game

I have tried every combination to the cake lock to what I could have done wrong and nothing works. Just to darn frustrating.

Reply

I also could not get the fridge lock opened. I got all the numbers & triple checked them. Still the lock wouldn't open and I also gave up. Game flaw perhaps?

Reply

dayummm after hard work id figure out the code of the fridge

the dark triangle is 5 (3+2)
the star is 5 you see that clearly
the X is 6 (2+3+1)
and the square(the egg) is 3

i hope you have some use of it

peace

Reply

No that does not help. The numbers change with every game. My egg was 9, not 3.

Reply

I have no idea what you people are talking about with a dead mouse. It's not dead. Its full and taking a rest. Its even moving a bit.
