Here's a good game for fans of quirky physics puzzlers like Color Infection and Splitter. Civiballs asks you to drop colored orbs into the corresponding urns. Most orbs begin the level suspended in the air by chains and ropes. Your only method of interaction is to cut those cords, and let physics handle the rest.
Just point at a chain and click to sever it. The puzzle is in which chains to cut first, and in getting the timing right. Think through a puzzle thoroughly beforehand, and you may be able to complete it flawlessly on the first try; but between all of the cannons, catapults, ramps, chain reactions, and trying to slice a swinging cord at just the right moment to propel a ball at full speed across the screen, a lot can go wrong in the execution. A single click can have huge consequences.
Civiballs is a gameplay clone of Obulis, an inventive and beautiful commercial game by IonFx. In fact, it hews so closely to the ideas from Obulis without adding anything significant that I'm tempted to call it a rip-off. However, Civiballs allows us to play in this territory for free, and it's quite well-implemented, even if the spherical title characters have a confusing tendency to wear spectacles. Why did they have to be anthropomorphic, exactly? I'd be perfectly happy to chuck them around without having them wink and leer at me like a gang of flirtatious jawbreakers.
Good game, not too challenging and with the addition of an easy to use walkthrough, if you get stuck you can get past it fast. A little timing and a little luck but a good game. Just too short.
Good game and I liked it. It was short though.
Excellent game! A+++++++++. Would play again.
Fun game, but level 7(greece) confuses me. Help anyone?
"Gang of flirtatious jawbreakers"- Hahahahahahaha!!!!
beat it, really fun.
the very last level is...
...a finale!
A little on the easy side, and I'd love to see more levels, but it's a great game. With some of the challenges in the earlier levels, I expected the last level to be more difficult. It was kind of a let down to find
only one chain to cut.
agreed, smoke. agreed.
Has anyone had any luck with Greece 9 or China 6?
"Has anyone had any luck with Greece 9 or China 6?"
China 6 is relatevily easy: first drop the yellow ball, then drop the red ball, launch it, and then finally drop the green one.
I'm struggling with Greece 9 also...
For Greece 9:
1.
Cut the chains for the two green balls.
2.
Release the highest gray ball.
3.
Wait until the gray ball on the top left starts swinging; then cut the red ball's chain.
4.
Release the final gray ball once everything else stops moving.
Hey, Lizzi, here is a guide for Greece 7
Cut loose the grey ball on the far right first
Now cut loose the one over the red ball
Cut loose the remaining ball on the right side
Now here's the fun part. Cut the left chain on the green ball and drop him into the cannon. After the cannon fires, cut the left chain on the last remaining ball and time it just right to knock the green ball over to the right
Now, you think you can help me with Egypt 6?
I think I would enjoy this one but it was really jerky on my computer and the cannons kept pulsing without firing :(
the cannons are wierd......i dunno how to use them.every time a drop a civiball in it just keeps pulsing, and not shooting.can anyone tell me how it works?
I had a lot of fun with this. Maybe I will have to check out this obulis game at some point.
I am also having problems with the cannons. Because I was confused about it I clicked on the solutions. The cannons didn't work there either. Are they supposed to do anything?
I am having the cannon problem too! Not sure what is going on.
The cannons-pulsing-without-shooting seems to happen when your mouse is over a chain -- move it away from all the chains and the cannon should fire at last.
lv 9 greece very very hard think anyone can share hoe to beat it??? ty if u try to help
The version of the game at Kongregate seems to work better on slower computers (presumably due to having less graphics-intensive ads on the page), but there are still some complaints about the cannons not firing. One person said that scrolling down on the page, so that the game was temporarily not visible, allowed the cannon to fire for them; I suspect that temporarily switching to a blank browser tab would also work.
need some help with egypt 9 what to do?
greece 6 plz
Does anyone know how to do Egypt 7? It's the only one I can't figure out..
the last level was not at all what i expected :(
Please, I can't get the center one after you beat all 3 areas. Help guys! Lol.
[Edit:Please do not use all capitals. It makes it hard to read. Thanks, Kayleigh]
OK -- for China 6 -- drop the yellow ball first. Then, cut the red ball and when it shoots up, it will make the green ball swing; then you cut the green ball when you feel it's aimed right. The red ball will have gone up and come down hitting the yellow ball into it's urn and rolling over to the red urn. I found I had to play around the the balls, chains, etc., a few times first to see what they would do. You can't really just start out blindly.
Nope, still can't get the cannons to fire. BUT they fire in the solutions website. :/
I am really stuck on Egypt 8
