It's beginning to look a lot like Neutral... one of the most popular escape game creators is back with a trio of seasonal titles, Chick Mini Games, beginning with Tower of Chicks, a simple puzzle game that requires you to swap cuddly birds between nests until they're stacked in proper order, and first followed up by Chick Room Escape and then Chick Room Escape Xmas ver. Make sure you play them in order... their stories are tied together! All you need to do to play is click. When playing either escape game, your cursor will change to show you're hovering over something you can interact with. If you want to use an item, click it in your inventory to highlight it, then click where you want to apply it. As the title implies, these games are short, but with Neutral's signature style and deft touch with puzzles, they definitely fall into the "short and sweet" end of things. What better way to celebrate the season than with a trio of cute and clever games?
Thanks to Martha for sending these in!
I haven't even started yet but find I must just say, "YAY!!! Neutral is back!!!"
I'm sure I'm going to feel like an idiot once someone tells me the solution, but I'm stuck in the third game.
I have a bear with a bow on its neck, and a... blue circle with a snowflake on it?
I have what must be the clue to the wardrobe:
WARD
ROBE
but I don't see anything that tells me how to use it.
I see the painting on the wall with the four trapezoids and the clock that needs a gear, neither of which I know what to do with. I've unlocked the drawer but not the cabinet.
What am I missing?
Oh man, no, I don't feel like an idiot, that was really clever. In case anyone else is stuck in the same place:
The two rows of four letters correspond to the two rows of four doors on the table/cabinet. The picture on the wall is the view of four open doors, each of which corresponds to one of the letters.
The answer is BEAR
The painting on the wall with the trapezoids and the wardrobe clue are related.
The trapezoids represent the open doors on the red/green cabinet.
Which doors open which way, matching the order in the painting, reveals the letters of the code.
Just the other day, I was wondering what had happened to Neutral.
Ooh, on her site, there's also an update about the enormous escape game she's been working on for over two years now. I can't wait.
This may be identical to https://jayisgames.com/archives/2011/12/christmas_banner_escape.php
Many sites like Neutral will come out with seasonal titles which go away after we've all packed up, like Halloween or Christmas.
...doesn't stop me from playing them! Tis the season!
Okay, I'm already stuck on the second game.
I have the clock running, and the disk that had "!&*%$" on it. That corresponds to 17854, or 17x54 = 918. But 9:18, and 21:18, don't work on the clock, nor is there a way to enter five digits anywhere. What do I do?
Take a look at the computer it's on, not the one you're using. The keyboards are different
That's correct. The page for the 'series' as it were says this:
"There are two mini room escape game based on mini puzzle game 'Tower of Chicks'.
These were made fot the top page of Neutralx0.net seasonally, I remade English version.
While these are simple mini-game, I'm glad if you enjoy it."
I don't see the point of playing game 1 at all.
I'm totally stuck on game 2 needing a battery, a screwdriver and probably a 3rd coing for the thing with the red handle.
There's nothing in the close-up view of the sofa?
Hmmm... aren't all three of these games old ones? I definitely remember playing them years ago...
But Neutral indeed seems to be back - at least (s)he's reported to hint of working a new "full length" game - which is terrific news.
Oh.
I was going by the symbols on my own keyboard, not the Japanese one actually sitting there on the table in the game...
Loved the Tower of Chicks, played it several time. Thanks @Shudog for that link.
So cute! Needed a hint for one part, but overall I think the puzzles are straightforward and fun!
Shudog [perhaps inadvertently] posted the link to the last game's walkthrough - https://jayisgames.com/archives/2011/12/christmas_banner_escape.php
Like others I don't see the relevance of playing the first game but Neutral games are always a pleasure to play.
These are translated
Computer/Laptop shown in the game has different combination of special character above the numbers on its keyboard.
So the answer would be 16:54 and then click the blue button on the clock. A hint to this is given in red bin if u click it after using the floppy disk, which says # -> 3
I'm stuck with the snowflake. Can anyone help?
VERY glad to see Neutral again.
I'm stuck on second game.
I did get the door open but
can't get the trap door at the top open
Also, I got the
little bird from the cabinet
but I have no idea how to use it.
OK, never mind.
Looks like I had to
click repeatedly with the bird highlighted.
By the way, I understand why we should play the first game in the series. It helps you to know what to do when
you get out of the trap door. You stack them up in the nest the same way you did in the first game.
hope someone does a walkthrough soon :)
I... yes. That's what I said. It was in response to someone using their own keyboard as a reference.
For "Chick Room Escape Xmas ver."
I have the teddy bear dressed in socks and a bow. I can put him in the chair and take him off, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I also have the snowflake ball.
I am stuck. Any hints or other forms of help would be appreciated.
A new Neutral game? Oh my gosh, I've been waiting YEARS for this. I'm so excited. I'm so glad to see that this beautiful creator is back on the scene. What an incredible way to celebrate the season.
@shjack, you have to make sure ...
the bear looks just like the one in the picture on the note to Santa.
Shape, colours, everything should look the same.
Also,
other than the chair, there's somewhere else you can put the bear. Check the Santa note for a hint. But it will only do something when the bear is fully prepped.
@stuckinabasement
Thanks! Took me a while but I finally finished the game. There was a lot more to it than I thought. Great little game here :)
So lost. I have
a ball with a snowflake on it and a bear with a bow on its neck
help plz?
POP - I forgot all about
those 3 little stars I put in the box
Finally finished the Xmas escape. Pretty cool game!
I have to say, the mini-screen is not an asset for those of us with less than perfect eyesight.
@JCS
You can increase the size of the mini-screen by zooming in to your browser window. At least it worked for me in Google Chrome. Made searching for "hot spots" a lot easier.
Finally finished the third game. There were definitely some clever puzzles in there. Really anticipating the upcoming big game from Neutral!!

Walkthrough for Chick Room Escape (+ colorblind solution)
Exploration
1st screen: Note locked drawer and potted plant
2nd screen (moving right from starting room): Get spade from behind the hanging t-shirts. Note the coin-operated lever machine in the cabinet, the locked blue cubby, the sleeping chick in the red cubby, and the teal box with screen/three buttons on top of the cubbies.
3rd screen: Click the orange seat top to get a coin. Note laptop (detail shot of keyboard, screen, USB and floppy disc drives, and power button). Look inside trash can (click the trash can top to look inside rather than move it) for a clue.
4th screen: Get blue key from under doormat. Get another coin from lamp (hidden on the inside of the lampshade). Note hinged mirror secured with a screw.
3 Coins
Use spade on the soil in the potted plant, get 3rd coin.
Insert all three coins into coin machine and pull lever, get battery
1st Password Puzzle
Use blue key on blue cubby, get floppy disc.
Press power button to turn on laptop; insert floppy; open "pass1.dat" file. Where have you seen these symbols before? Use the trash can hint.
According to the keyboard of the laptop you just turned on, !&*%$ becomes 16:54.
Go to the teal thing with the buttons on top of the cubbies (2nd screen). Click around the back to the battery slot and insert your battery.
It's a clock! Enter your password/code using the buttons and activate. (Middle button: hours, right button: minutes, left button: "enter"--don't forget to press this at the end.)
Grab the yellow key. An alarm goes off--what would be the point of this?
Sleeping chick inside the red cubby just woke up--grab it.
2nd Password Puzzle (+ colorblind solution)
Use yellow key on yellow cabinet's locked drawer (1st screen), get screwdriver.
Use screwdriver on mirror; inside is a switch. Click it to turn off lights, then look around:
Shapes are glowing on certain color backgrounds: diamond (green), circle (white), heart (black), star (red), triangle (blue). There is also a small glowing circle next to the potted plant--click to get the green coin.
Turn the lights back on. Insert green coin into coin machine and get USB drive
Insert USB drive into laptop. Click Pass2.swf on the screen and note the shapes that pop up.
If you click the shapes, they change color. Input the colors you noticed when the lights were out.
[COLORBLIND SOLUTION. Click each shape the following number of times, then press Enter: triangle 3, circle 0, heart 7, star 1, diamond 4.]
Final Steps
Go through open door, climb up ladder to trapdoor.
Trapdoor is kind of stuck. Click a bunch of times to open.
Finish screen: The 4 chicks who had their nest on top of the trapdoor are tumbled all over. Note the 5th and tiniest chick is in your inventory. You can click the trapdoor again to close it, and the stack all five chicks in the nest for some nice applause.
And to clarify, Chick Room Escape Xmas Version walkthrough has already been posted on JiG, here. (Thanks, Shudog and Chiktionary.)
