Button Escape 26

Button, button, who's got the button? Well, if you ever want to escape from Tototo Room's Button Escape 26, it better be you! To find a way out, you first need to find and click on the eleven gray buttons hidden throughout the room, turning them into more cheerful smiley ones. There's no changing cursor, but this is a bite-sized escape anyway, provided you can figure out what one of the few items you'll actually pick up is supposed to be! If you like them short, sweet, and just a little weird, Button Escape 26 is the perfect pick-me-up.

Button Escape 26 Walkthrough

The "easy" buttons

1. In the red bin by the door.

2. In the orange framed picture (zoom in).

3. In the wall-mounted cabinet (zoom in and click the cracked panel).

4. At the bottom of the view with the teddy bear and computer.

5. In the teddy bear's, um, nether regions.

6. In the corner of the computer monitor (zoom in).

7. Near the power outlet under the computer (zoom in).

8. Next to the large brown cabinet.

9. Behind the upper right panel in the large brown cabinet.

The four-digit code

If you haven't done so already, open the wall-mounted cabinet and click on the cracked panel.

Looks like you need a four-digit code corresponding to the letters "ABCD."

The computer seems like a reasonable place to look for a clue.

Zoom in on the computer and click the power button to turn on the monitor.

Click the "Photo" icon and scroll through the photos.

These look like photos of various parts of the room.

Also note that the label for each photo ends with one of the letters "ABCD."

Go around the room and zoom in on each area that matches one of the photos to find the number matching each letter.

The code is 6897. Entering it reveals a KEY behind the lower-left panel in the large brown cabinet that you can take.

The five questions

Use the KEY to open the locked box on top of the large brown cabinet. Read the note.

Button 10 can be found on the note.

The note contains five statements, and you need to decide whether or not they're correct.

Click on the head of the sleeping dromedary by the door to wake him up.

What's that in his mouth?

It looks like a code box, with an "O" button that indicates "correct/true" and an "X" button that indicates "incorrect/false."

Click the right sequence of five buttons, corresponding to the statements on the note.

False, True, False, True, False. Take the ERASER.

Use the ERASER on the orange framed picture.

The resulting pattern might not look like much, but clicking on the feature in the upper right will reveal Button 11. You're out!

One small late-game hint, since this is one of the few times that I've seen this kind of game have a situation where the language barrier really comes into play --

消しゴム is "keshigomu"...

which is Japanese for 'eraser.'

I don't understand the clue

Reply

What is up with the clue in the

locked box? where does one input the answers?

Reply

@vamoosi, thanks for the hint! It helped.

Reply

How do you use the

eraser?

Reply

The locked box clue is another language thing. When you figure out where you use the information, you also need to know that
O = yes, X = no
Argh! Sorry, wrong code tag. :(

Don't know what the

anyone want to help me out?

I have all but buttons 3 and 4. I'm left with

a strange picture full of squares - connected to the cabinet somehow?
Pictures on a computer
The thing in the llama's mouth
A locked box I haven't found the key for

Start with the

pictures on the computer. Do these resemble anything you can see?

They're probably areas you should look at more closely. Those pictures may indicate some previously unnoticed clues.

What? A code? Hm, where did we see a place to input a code?

If you haven't found it yet, there was a cracked panel in that cabinet....

Paul:

You have to zoom in on each area to see the numbers. Some areas may look similar, so make sure you're looking at the right ones.

Also note that the panel where you enter the code is NOT the same panel that unlocks once it's correct (you should see a cut scene that indicates this).

abf,

I did find the numbers and from what I see it says a=6 b=7 c=9 and d=8 I typed that in order but it doesn't work.

Looks like you're getting a couple of the numbers mixed up (they don't change between games). The correct code is in the walkthrough if you need it.

I would've liked more weirdness, but I still enjoyed it
