BNKR

KimberlyIn a world once populated by humans, only droids roam the earth now, struggling to find the fuel they need to survive. One day, a previously impenetrable door opens on its own. Discover what is behind this mysterious hatch in BNKR a gorgeous point and click adventure game by Piter Games. Click to move or interact with your surroundings or inventory. A changing cursor will let you know when there's an interesting hotspot to investigate.

BNKRYou have been tasked with searching the bunker for fuel or anything else that might be useful to android survival. Examine each scene carefully for clues and helpful items. This is a pleasant task as the artwork is beautiful and and really gives a sense of the desolate state of the world these robot live in. The gameplay is pretty standard for a point-and-click game, but it's the mystery and sense of exploration that will keep you engaged. You may think the post-apoctalyptic thing has been done to death, and indeed the world of BNKR is reminisent of Primordia, where energy is at premium. But BNKR does it well, and the story takes a twist at the end which leaves you hanging and wanting to know more. This first installment is wonderful, so hopefully we won't have to wait long for the story to continue.

Played this earlier. Great game, just wish it were longer.

This is gorgeous. The art is so detailed and stark. Of course that means you'll have to switch to your Where's Waldo eyes to find some crucial items. A bit of a cop-out how tools will just disappear after use, an escaper convention that seems out of place in all the realism. Also one big problem, unless I'm looking at it wrong:

The reflection of your self is not reversed. I suspected as much when I looked at the '9', but it would've been a cooler puzzle and a better piece of art if they'd stuck to that. Unless robots automatically switch images in mirrors.
While we're on the subject, aren't these robots instead of androids???

Other than that, it's a study in thinking like a robot. Very cool.

Hey, I'm stuck over just one small thing...

Looks great, great atmosphere, but a bit too much pixel hunting for my taste. That said, definitely fun.

I can't place the broken key. Sadface.

If I may, I'd like to recommend a change of rating. My nearly-six-year-old were enjoying everything...until that last scene...

when the dead robot and change of music TOTALLY FREAKED HIM OUT.

I loved this game, despite having to use the walkthrough a bit. The artwork is beautiful, and I love the robot's voice-it doesn't get annoying and it makes the robot a likeable character to play. The ending was great :)

@Shudog - Regarding your question about robots and androids. An android is simply a robot designed to look human. So all androids are robots but not all robots are androids.

@Zeke
Yah, days later I realized my brain switched some words out. (Geez, I hope this isn't that aging thing they speak of...) For some reason it got hooked on 'cyborg' whilst reading 'android.'

I'll take some Star Treks and call in the morning.

An okay game. Some items were a bit hard to spot, and there was no puzzle solving to speak of. Also,

using the "important device" to fix the key was a bit of a stretch

. Basically just trying something hoping it worked. Would have been better to have some hint as to what it's use was instead of just using the "leap of faith" method. The atmosphere and voice work were better than the game itself. Hopefully the second installment will improve on the first.

Reply

Only got stuck on 2 different things:

The weird key-fixing machine and the mirror under the table.

But all in all, pretty good game.

Reply

It's one of those games. The artwork and the atmosphere are fantastic. But there are no real puzzles. It just comes down to a looot of pixelhunting. When you have scanned the same area a thousand times with your mouse, you read the walkthorough just to discover you missed that pixel anyway. To all indie gamemakers: creating good atmosphere is great, bit please please concentrate on gameplay first!

THIS IS THE BEST THING TO HIT FLASH GAMING IN A VERY LONG TIME! Everyone else is making the same friggin' games over, and over, and OVER! Platform games using the arrow keys! Stick Men! Troll Faces! Aim and shoot projectile juuust right! Games with artwork of a 3rd Grader with ZERO logic/thinking skills required. (Must I go on?)
Now, THIS GAME, "BNKR", my friends, absolutely HIT THE BULLSEYE when it comes to everything a great game needs! The original, unique artwork, the gripping audio / voices, a simple yet intriguing-original storyline, and effortless game controls. MORE, MORE, MORE! There could have been a few puzzles tossed in there, of course! But other than that, I seriously don't know what everyone is complaining about. This game is magnificent. Your cursor actually changes shape when you are over a hotspot (and they are MUCH larger than a "pixel") so locating an item or button is quite do-able within 10 seconds in each case. Heck, 1/2 of the point-n-Click games out there have no changing cursor and they have you clicking like a sewing machine until something near-invisible finally lands in your inventory.
THAT's pixel-hunting, people.)
I would hope this becomes a LONG series of games, as it has INCREDIBLE potential...but....sadly.....it has been almost two years since this was released, so the thought of a sequel is looking kinda grim at this point.

And I wanted to know who is killing androids!!!

Reply

Found this quite by accident. I played it and had to have help a couple of times but overall it was really really good.

The end said "to be continued" ... but that was 5 years ago. I am pretty sure there isn't a 2nd installment.

This game was so good that now I am not in the mood to play escape games at this time. It outshines most of the escape games I have played lately.

I was looking for it a long time (didn't remember the title), found it and replayed a month or two ago and my memory was right, it's awesome game. I tried hard to find the sequel but unfortunately there isn't any.
