Bamba Snack Quest 3
It's been over three years since an adorable baby with an insatiable desire for delicious crunchy peanut butter treats charmed us all in Bamba Snack Quests 1 and 2. Gal Mamalya, the brilliant mind behind the similarly gorgeous point-and-click game Mitoza, has teamed up with the company once again to release a third advergame. And is this game as good as its predecessors? Well, haven't you always wanted to say "Not now, I'm trying to rescue a squirrel from a UFO"? Bamba Snack Quest 3 can make that dream come true, and that secret wish you have about stealing the cane from a geriatric robot too. Don't worry, we'll keep that one strictly between us.
After enjoying the surreal combination of photorealism and cartoonishness in the cutscenes, mouse around the scene. Your cursor changes over hotspots. Click around to manipulate the environment. You're controlling a baby, albeit an ingenious one, so frequently you're limited in your reach, so a big part of progressing will involve getting objects closer to you.
Analysis: Don't be fooled by the literally baby-faced protagonist: while thematically this one is kid-friendly, it's definitely not kid-oriented, at least not for the younger ages. The game relies a lot on your observational skills, since some of the clues are pretty subtle, and putting the clues together often takes some lateral thinking. Many of the puzzles are the rotation variety, which veteran point-and-clickers either love or loathe. This could be a fun game for parents and kids to play together, however.
For those of you who point and click so much that your index finger has calluses, you'll love the game's challenge. It can be frustrating to watch the tot just shrug his shoulders as you try to figure out what to do, but the satisfaction when the light bulb goes off more than makes up for it. And it isn't just point-and-click groupies who will dig this game. Bamba Snack Quest 3 features dreamy, zany art and top-notch animation, right up there with such hits as Samorost and The Blue Beanie. The only thing that could make it better is to play it while munching on a new package of the delicious treat of your choice.

Bamba Quest 3 Walkthrough
Chapter 1: Bambatos
In the background you can see two loose planks leaning against the fence. Pick them up and put them on the tree, one at a time.
Pick up the crowbar and use it on the hammer stuck in the tree limb to get it down.
Pick up the hammer and use it on one of the planks to nail it in. Repeat with the other plank.
Pick up the crowbar again and climb the newly fixed ladder.
Click the knob near the propeller and watch what happens.
Click on the fly and it will stop the propeller. Quickly click the propeller to get it down. (Make sure the baby's holding the crowbar when you attempt this step.)
Click on the gas can to drop it.
Click on the ropes dangling in the same corner to untie them.
Examine those photos towards the right side of the treehouse. What you really want to pay attention to is the combination of lights in the center: light, medium, and dark. Screenshot it or write it down.
Click the ladder in the lower right corner to return to the bottom screen.
Click the propeller to put it on.
Pick up the gas can and use it on the airplane.
Pick up the tire from the swing and use it on the spot where it belongs in the lower left of the plane.
Click the plane to get in. You want to set the same sequence of lights as from the photo. Yellow is the brightest, red is the darkest, and green is in the middle.
If you REALLY think you need it, here's a screenshot of the way the console ought to look.
Once it's set, click the baby's hand on the throttle. Off we go!
Chapter 2: The Spaceship
Hmm, interesting. Click the baby until the screen changes.
Inside the UFO, click the rope and the squirrel will tie it on.
When the scene changes to outside, click the vents towards the lower right and note how they behave when covered up.
Click the glass to switch control to the squirrel.
Pull the lever to the left and watch what happens. The lever controls whatever the green triangular receiver is attached to: in this case, the spherical robot.
Click outside the glass to switch back to the baby. (I'll assume you have the sense to do this yourself from now on.)
The baby can reach the green receiver now. Have him take it and stick it on the square shutter between the vents.
Switch back to the squirrel. Shift the lever left and the whole UFO will tip, causing the crate to slide across the floor and breaking the padlock on it.
Shift the lever back to the right to slide the crate back to where it was before.
As the baby, take the receiver back and toss it back in through the door crack.
As the squirrel, take the receiver and stick it on the crate.
Shift the lever left to get the round piece out of the crate.
Take the receiver again and stick it back on the round robot, then pick it up as the baby and transfer it to the shutter between the vents again.
As the squirrel, shift the lever left. This will slide the crate back to the left.
Pick up the round object that came from the crate, then click on the crate to stand on it and pass the round object to the baby.
As the baby, stick the round object on the door.
Click on the four triangular areas of the door to change the lines on the door until they match the round object, then ring the doorbell to the right.
Done! But the quest is far from over…
Chapter 3: Escaping
Watch the opening cutscene to get a view of how the escape pods work.
Click on the glowing orb and put it in one of the corners of the escape pod to the right.
Press the red button to move the satellite.
Pick up one of the potted plants and stick it in the alcove with the round robot. The robot will destroy it.
Repeat with the other potted plants. When they're all gone, the insect will move to the air freshener.
Click on the insect and it'll eat away the air freshener. Repeat until the CD falls.
Take the mirror from the sink and put it in the robot's alcove. It'll fire its laser off the mirror.
Take the CD, then jump down the hole.
Use the CD on the laser beam to fry the door off the satellite's control panel.
Examine the control panel. Click the centers of the four X's to rearrange the round components. You want all the blue components on the left, instead of all the orange ones.
A simple solution is: lower left, lower right x3, upper left x2.
The screen will automatically exit, and the satellite's dish moves down.
While you're here, grab one of those glowing balls and take it back up, then put it in the escape pod's hatch. Go back out and get the other one, too, and repeat.
Press the red button twice. The satellite will catch the far glowing ball and come back.
Go down. You can't reach the glowing ball, so mess with the satellite's control panel again.
If you followed my earlier instructions, the orange components should be in a vertical line in the center. Switch them with the blue components by pressing upper left, lower left x3, upper left.
Now you can take the glowing ball. Go put it in the last empty corner. You're off!
Chapter 4: The Train
Wow, long cutscene there. You're on a train now! I like train levels for some reason. This is a long chapter, so stay with me.
Turn the fan off by pressing the button below it. The old robot will use his cane to turn it back on.
While he's doing this, quickly knock over the sack the cane was leaning against. (If you missed your chance, just turn the fan off again.)
Turn the fan off again. The old robot can't reach his cane anymore, so he'll open the window.
Climb the ladder. Our hero, being the little Good Samaritan he is, will return the old robot's cane first.
Outside, open the green hatch, climb over to the red car, then jump into the red hatch.
Take a gumball from the machine in the foreground, then go through the doors on the right.
Pop the gum-blowing robot's bubble by clicking it and watch the wrench-handling robot get startled by the pop. Interesting.
Give the gumball to the gum-blowing robot and he'll blow a bigger bubble. Pop that and you'll startle the wrench-handling robot even more.
While you're here, press the green cart button to call the refreshments robot. Nothing too interesting, but this'll be important later.
Go get another gumboil and give it to the gum-blowing robot. Pop the resulting bubble and you'll annoy the wrench-handling robot so much he'll throw his wrench.
The dog robot fetched the wrench! Interesting. Pick up the wrench and take it into the other car; the dog robot will follow.
Click the dog robot and the baby willl toss the wrench for it. Quickly grab the knitting robot's ball of yarn and use it on the dog.
Aw, you ruined the knitting robot's hard work. Oh well, you can't be a Good Samaritan all the time. Grab his knitting needles.
Go back into the other car and use the knitting needles to jam the door (click the hoops the arrows are pointing to).
Call the refreshments cart again. The cart will stop at the jammed door.
Climb up on the cart (click on it) and use it to reach the ladder (click on the ladder).
Outside again! Climb to the blue car, then prepare to solve another puzzle.
Whenever you click a valve, it and any adjacent valves turn a quarter-turn clockwise. You want to get all the valves' open ends facing down.
If you don't want to click randomly, here's the solution: far-left valve three times, middle-left valve twice, middle-right valve three times, far right valve once.
Victory! …OH CRA--!
Chapter 5: The Fortress
…Ouch. Well, that went well. Those two guard robots won't let you touch anything over here except for that remote on the floor, and you can't do anything with it yet, so cross that footbridge to the left.
Click the button on the train gate to open it. You'll be able to do more with it later, but for now just leave it open.
Click the plug in the wall beneath the posters to unplug the gate and plug in the TV (if you've been following the cables).
Click inside the dumpster to the left to search it and find something useful. Read it after the baby puts it on the ground.
Click the pages to turn them. Not much you can actually read, but it looks like a TV guide. Hmm, that entry marked 337 is circled. Wonder why.
Click the right edge of the screen to exit the TV guide's view. Go back to where the guards are and pick up the remote, then click the TV to use the remote.
Turn on the TV with the red power button and… hm. What's that green button? Try it and you'll learn the guards are REALLY scared of whatever that green crowned thing is. Maybe you can exploit that.
Use the remote on the TV again. This time press 3-3-7. Looks like a nature program… and the guard on the right is interested!
With that guard distracted, you can sneak into the door on the left. Click anything besides the TV to drop the remote, then do exactly that.
I think this room belongs to the guard on the left. He really seems to like soccer. Bump the cabinet until the soccer ball drops, then pick it up.
Leave the room, go to the left, and stick the soccer ball on the gate. You'll soon see exactly why.
Go back into the door to the left of the guards and check out that display case with the jersey. Click the padlock. (Not the case, the padlock!)
This puzzle will REALLY frustrate some people. You have to find the same color in each of the three rings, and after each failure the rings rotate. My only advice is to look for one color at a time, and use the colors you've already found as landmarks.
Once you've solved it, you can take the jersey from the display case. Go put it on the gate the same way you did the soccer ball. Does it look like anything you've seen before yet?
We'll have to get into the other door now. If only we could find a TV program the other guard was interested in. Well, we know from his room that he likes soccer…
Look at the TV guide again and turn the pages. Hmm, the description of channel 865 is accompanied by a soccer ball. That looks pretty promising.
Go pick up the TV remote again and use it to change the TV to channel 865. It's a soccer match! Aha, the other robot is watching now! Now you can enter the door on the right.
I guess this is the other guard's room. Well, we can certainly see why he was interested in that nature program. Take the potted flower.
You know the drill, stick the flower on the gate. Hey, now it looks like that green thing from the posters… and we know the guards are scared of him!
Unplug the TV and plug the gate in again, then close the gate. You can then slip by both guards while they're distracted, and… YIKES!
Chapter 6: The King!
Watch the King! get bags of Bamba snacks from the dispenser. You should spot a red key behind him; click it when you can and the squirrel will pick it up.
Use the red key to unlock the cage on the far right. The robot will wait by the other two cages.
Click the green key to nab it with the robot's help, then use it to free the other two robots.
You can now reach the security camera with the help of the tower of robots, but what good will it do you? Hmm… what else can you do at the moment?
When the King! stops to lick his lips, quickly grab the discarded bag of snacks. If you've got a sharp eye, you'll notice it has a picture of our baby protagonist on it.
Climb up the stack of robots by clicking it, then while the King! is eating, click the camera to fool it.
Click the baby and he'll leave his cage-- and the King! will be none the wiser. Oops, looks like you knocked out a vent.
Click the vent in the ground that you just knocked open. Wow, that is a LOT of Bamba snacks.
Try the colored buttons. What you want to do is play the Bamba jingle on them: you can figure it out via trial and error, or you can just press yellow-blue-blue-blue-yellow-red.
Press the up button twice to raise the cannon to position 2, then click the vent to return to the King!'s room.
Wait for the snack cannon to knock off the King!'s crown. Then when the King! goes to pick it up, yank the pullcord to take care of him.
Game complete!
