Aries Escape No. 21: X'mas 2015

Aries Escape is throwing another Christmas party for you and your good friends, but no sooner do you show up when you find yourself locked inside by yourself! After all, true friends know what you want for the holiday... an escape game to puzzle your way out of, and Aries Escape No. 21: X'mas 2015 is just the ticket. The cursor will change when it passes over something you can click on to interact with, and items you're carrying can be viewed up close by double-clicking them, which may reveal new surprises. Don't be scared of the headless torso in the bottom right corner, that actually represents you, and if you get stuck, try using items on yourself. There are two possible endings in this game, provided you can stop dancing like a maniac to the peppy soundtrack, so don't be in a hurry to leave even when you think you've found the way out. There are sneaky puzzles and cryptic clues galore scattered around this cozy bar, but as long as you leave no stone unturned and make the most of everything you've got, it'll be no match for you.

Walkthrough

Don't forget to switch the language to English before starting.

Santa ornaments

  • In the wreath on the door

  • Behind Lego Santa on bar

  • Blue box on the bar

  • On Christmas tree, bottom tier, to the left of the trunk (just underneath a big silver ornament)

  • On Christmas tree, near the top, just to the right of the trunk - use the cane to reach it.

Get the cane from the umbrella stand.

  • Slot machine - use a coin

Get a coin from the panel behind the calendar.

  • Shape box

  • In window

Look at the top right corner of the rightmost window, in the garland.

  • Behind napkin holder (middle table)

  • Box on seat

Big grey cabinet (4-letter code)

The candles will give you the code.

Get the lighter from the coaster in the middle of the bar. Double-click it in your inventory and turn it on before using it on the four candles.

LELB - what word could that spell?

BELL

Get: a place to put the Santa ornaments.

Panel behind the calendar (7-digit code)

The napkin holder on the table next to the slot machine has a QR code on its back. A phone to read it with would be nice.

You've actually had a phone the whole time; it's in plain sight, albeit a bit sneaky.

Click the torso and get the phone from its pocket.

Use the phone on the QR code.

Score minus Bonus? Where have you seen a score and a bonus?

Look at the arcade game. 5597640 - 0028516 = 5569124

Enter the code and get the coin.

Blue box (keyhole?)

There's a small blue box on the bar (next to the presents). It has a slot that on first glance looks like a keyhole, but is actually a large screw.

To get the screwdriver, look behind things and pay attention to arrows.

Move the umbrella stand to get the handle. Look at the slot machine, then click the arrow to the left to get the bit. Don't forget to combine the two parts in your inventory.

Get: a Santa ornament.

Shape box (4 shapes)

To find the box, remember the symbol that was on the back of the phone? Where else in the room did you see that?

Look at the grate at the bottom of the slot machine. Use the phone on the symbol to open the grate.

For the shapes, examine the napkin holders.

On the table closest to the door, turn around the napkin holder to see the code.

square, circle, triangle pointing down, triangle pointing up

Get: a Santa ornament.

Box on seat (5-digit code)

To find the box, remember to pay attention to the arrows.

When you're looking at the corner table, notice the arrow pointing right. Click it to see the box on the seat.

The code is on a piece of paper someone must've dropped as they were leaving.

Look under the Welcome mat.

Roman numerals VIII, III, VI, IV, IX, with an arrow pointing from right to left.

Get: a Santa ornament.

Endings

Normal end

Collect 10 Santa ornaments and put them in the box inside the big gray cabinet. Get the key and go out the door.

Happy end

Get the key as for the normal end, and use it in the door, but don't go out yet. Look around: what has changed?

  • You can now look at the small pink box on the near end of the bar. It has a number pad, so you need some sort of numeric code (of unknown length).

  • You can zoom in on the locked drawer at the bottom of the big gray cabinet, so you'll need a key.

  • You can look at the dartboard behind the Christmas tree. The red dart is on 9, yellow = 13, green = 15, and blue = 19. Also, the bullseye looks kinda strange.

There's a coin in the center of the dartboard.

Use the coin in the slot machine.

No winnings this time, but that looks like it might be a code: one green apple, two red cherries, three yellow bananas.

Combine with the dartboard to get 15913.

Use the code on the pink keypad on the bar and get the key.
Use the key to open the bottom drawer of the gray cabinet and get the Santa hat.
Now you can go out the door.

Merry Christmas! Well, I thought I was going to escape this game without any help, but I'm stuck thaaaaaat close to finishing. I have

9 out of 10 Santa... discs? Or whatever. The only unused item in my inventory is the paper with the Roman numerals, and I can't find a place to use that.

Anyone got that last clue? Santa is watching, and I'm afraid he'll take back that BB gun if I don't solve the game. :-)

@Billy-o

Check around the tables. See if anyone's left anything on the seats

And out, with both endings!

Thanks, Korvar!

Where do I use the cane?

Reply

Use cane to get one of two santas off tree.

Reply

Looking for key to get second ending.

Reply

I cannot find the bit for the screwdriver!!

The way to find the special ending is to

Play darts-slots-darts in order.

Got The Special Ending W/O Help!!!

For the Happy End:

First, look to see what has changed.

1 - The pink thing on the bar can now be opened. It looks like it needs a number.

2 - The cabinet with the Santa sticker holder has a locked drawer on the bottom.

3 - You can now get close to the dart board.

Now you know what has changed.

I bet you need to open up the locked drawer in the cabinet.

I suspect that the pink code thing is the solution.

How do you get the number to enter?

Hmmm... there are numbers on the dart board, but what is the order?

So then this next step is tricky (at least for me).

There are some hard to find items in this game. Like the Santa stickers on the tree. They were not hard to obtain, but hard to see.

This next step is somewhat similar.

Examine the dart board carefully.

I just managed to luck on the next step.

The center of the dart board is golden. Hmmm...

If you are unable to stumble across it, here is the next step.

The center is a gold coin!

The rest is up to you!

Ok, there is a third "ending". But not a big thing, just curiosity.
If you've

played Aries Escape No.20. just before 21, and got the happy ending, then you may wear the more beautiful costume. Unfortunately it doesn't have any consequences.

@korvar,

i got only 8/10 santa, also with only that roman numeral card unused on hand, but

which seat should i click? i click and click and nothing response...

As with all Aries escapes, pay attention to what arrows are available in each view. To put it another way, don't assume that you can only go left or right in the fully-zoomed-out view.

Specifically, when you're zoomed in on the table in the corner, notice the arrow pointing right.

I've got 9/10 santas and still can't find the screwdriver bit, and clues?

Reply

ughhh nvrmind i found it haha

Reply

Dee, see my reply to Billy above.

In your case, you need to look around near

the slot machine rather than the corner table,

but it's the same main point: pay attention to the arrows.

Reply

8/10, no screwdriver bit, and I can't find anywhere to input the code

on the back of the napkin holder on the leftmost table.

I think I've clicked everywhere, twice... but obviously I'm missing something, probably something obvious. :-) Help?

Reply

Bah, should have refreshed before posting. Thanks! I thought I'd looked at the arrows but I'd missed them there.

Regarding the Blue Box in the Walkthrough....

The walkthrough says it "has a slot that on first glance looks like a keyhole, but is actually a large screw." Actually, I think it is indeed a keyhole; but the lock is held in place by screws. (The screwdriver removes the lock; it doesn't replace a key.)

Doesn't really matter of course....
