DoraLucky Tower 2I know they say clothes make the man, but if teeth have anything to do with it, the flaxen-haired hero of Lucky Tower 2 is as manly as they come. In this sequel to Exotworking's original action platforming adventure, Von Wanst is still searching for glory. When his fellow hero Damokles meets... uh... an unfortunate end, Von Wants gets an opportunity to go on a quest for the king that sounds easy enough, but you forget that Our Hero isn't exactly operating on all four cylinders. Probably because the other two are all gummed up with sheer manliness. Like... sports and... meat... and stuff. Guy things.

Move with the [arrow] keys, jump with [A], attack with [S], and while tapping the down [arrow] will cause Von Wanst to block, tapping up lets you interact with things and pick stuff open. Hit [Q] to open your... quest hand... to keep track of what you should be doing, and [D] to open your inventory where you can click and drag items to use or equip them. Your health is represented by the gleaming teeth in the bottom left corner, so try not to get busted up too badly. Alas, if only you weren't so punchable! It seems like the moment Von Wanst steps out the castle gates, everything wants a piece of him, but if you're willing to dust up anything that takes a swing at you, you'll earn gold you can spend on everything from hats, to more teeth (ew), and better equipment. Like pillows. And dead fish on sticks.

While the original Lucky Tower was a fun but relatively straight-forward game that relied heavily on gags and a sense of quirky charm, Lucky Tower 2 is a much more fleshed out beast. It feels more like an adventure, with a bunch of side-quests to complete and places to explore, and a whole bunch of weird characters to meet. The work that's gone into it, from the voice acting to crafting a whole new adventure, means Lucky Tower 2 is one of those rare sequels where it really seems like a big step up from its roots. You could argue, of course, that the simplistic, slapstick nature of the original was what made it great, and certainly the combat on display here is more than a little dull, but Lucky Tower 2 makes up for it in variety. Use elaborate, silly sign-language to help someone cheat at cards. Defend your beauty secrets from bandits. Go spelunking in crystal caverns full of goblins and sea monsters. Despite the tedious combat, Lucky Tower 2's gorgeously silly sense of whimsy makes this one brave knight worth spending some time with if you're a fan of ridiculousness, dental work, and hats. Lots of hat.s

Walkthrough Guide

(Please allow page to fully load for spoiler tags to be functional.)

Lucky Tower 2 Walkthough
(I'm new to this website so I am not sure how to format) [Formatted it for you. Thanks Anna Chan! ~Mike]:

  1. Start adventure by going into middle door with jade crest atop it. Walk inside.

  2. Then walk to right door, down stairs and into the kings room and he will give you a quest to find Anton Kaufmann. Then walk out.

  3. Walk into town and into the tavern, there will be Anton Kaufman, left of the creepy guy. He will tell you that he lost his clock in a game and needs to win it back. You will have to play a minigame where you help him cheat.

  4. After he wins, you walk him back to the kings castle, but get sidetracked by thieves and Anton will get struck and kill. Pick up the note he leaves and you will be on a new quest where you will need : a horse, slab of meat, and a map

    • TO OBTAIN THE MAP:

Walk back into town and go to the mapmaker. He will tell you to get 12 goblin ears. To obtain these you will have to walk past the town into the second forest up the SECOND HILL WITH THE TOWER and there will lie the goblin. He is a little hard to kill.

    • TO OBTAIN THE MEAT:

Go to the food merchant and buy it. Simple.

    • TO OBTAIN THE HORSE:

Give the child next to the horse salesman candy, and then tell him to distract the horse salesman. Go inside the salesman's home and read his diary. Then go back outside and confront him.

  5. Onward to the quest: you play a difficult minigame involving a horse and movement.

  6. After the game, you are in a new town and can't go back. You will meet a red-headed man, and no matter what you say he is going to investigate, unless you say the second choice which will lead to instant death.

  7. You go into town and you meet a wizard and you tell him there is fungi something something (i forget but it is the second option) and he will be intrigued and would like proof of the mushroom. To do this you will need a mushroom, resin, and a lock of red hair.

    • TO OBTAIN THE MUSHROOM:

The mushroom is near the tower with the bull and highlights when you are near it. There is only one mushroom so this is simple.

    • TO OBTAIN THE LOCK OF HAIR:

You will have to fight the thieves in the far left forest and enter their cave. Inside will be the red head: just swing at him using your sword, and the hair will be cut off.

    • TO OBTAIN THE RESIN:

Buy it from the wizard by talking to him again and choosing the first option. Simple.

  8. The mushroom will be made and you give it to the wizard. He will ask you to bring him to where the mushrooms are and you go far left until a cutscene. Then wack him on the head and steal his robes.

  9. I suggest wearing the robes after walking into town because he is REALLY SLOW IN THEM. But go all the way to the top of the cult church and open the book and you will get the password.

  10. Go into the bull tower after giving in the password and fight through the crypt. WARNING: THE THIRD STAIRCASE HAS A PUNCHING DEVICE THAT WILL KILL YOU INSTANTLY. Also the monster with the snake hair are medusas and will kill you instantly as well should they remove their masks.

  11. Defeat them all or run really fast. At the end of the crypt are 3 doors which will decide your ending. The End!

Okay, so all the medals:

Brazendorn

Complete the unnecessarily long horse minigame and get to Brazendorn.

Defender of Manhood

In the second town (Brazendorn), go into the second house near the end of the city, and refuse to leave when the guy asks you to three times. Beat him in a fight. If you are having trouble beating him,

wait for him to begin to attack to punch.

Double the Wanderlust

When the first Wanderlust asks you if you've seen his brother at the right side of town, continue on and go up the hills until you find his brother's corpse (marked by the red hat). Take his hat, then go back to his brother. You can either tell him that his brother is relaxing just around the corner, in which case he will go to look for him, or tell him that he died gruesomely, which will prompt him to attack you. He will die either way (unless he kills you), so find his corpse (it will be where his brother's was if you pick the first option) and take his hat, too.

Eggsplosion

Buy an egg. Use it. It will splatter all over the floor.

Cleanse the City

Kill all the purple-robed cultists in the town. A few of them are lurking a bit outside of the temple, so you might have to walk around to find them if you don't get them immediately.

Cozy Fur

Kill and skin the purple monster behind the rock. NOTE: For some reason, the lollipop alone will not serve to lure it out. You must have a sweetie in your inventory as well, so grab a sweetie and a lollipop and go monster hunting. You must take its skin afterwards to get the medal.

Immortal Melody

Return the trumpet to the bard. If you are having trouble getting past the giant monster with the hammer,

either run down the middle set of stairs before it can get there or jump over it. You must go up the top stairs partway to trigger it to run down.

Armore

Click on the heart in the bottom left of either weapon merchants' shop window to get to the secret shop.

Death

Get all the way through the tomb. Pick the middle door.

Destiny

Get all the way through the tomb. Pick the right door.

Kinghood

Get all the way through the tomb. Pick the left door.

Sword of Glory

Tell the ghost the password to the tomb. He'll give you a (useless) ancient sword of glory.

Secret Medal One:

Cake Is My Favourite Vegetable: Buy and eat a cake from the food merchant in the first town.

Secret Medal Two:

W.U.R.S.T. Buy and eat a Wurst.

GLITCHED: This only works with wurst obtained from the merchant in the second town. For some reason, doing this in the first town does not work.

Secret Medal Three:

Secret Hallway. Go through the cave all the way to the right in the first town. When you get to the teleporter, stand on it and press up, then go through the tower until you exit through the door into the shop. If you are having trouble getting past the fish,

stand on the rock until it is almost all the way risen, then jump on its head and onto the next rock.

Secret Medal Four:

Spare Some Bling. When the beggar asks if you can spare some bling, click the second option ("Can you spare some bling?"). Keep doing this until he attacks you. He will keep swinging his mace at you and cannot be killed, so I suggest doing this just before you leave so you don't have to jump over him every time you pass. Might also be a good idea to dodge to the side just after you select the option every time, since you will take damage otherwise.

I am completely confused, I just got out of the castle and i'm stuck at this pond? I can see the path I think I should take up a hill but I can't figure out how to change tracks so to speak and get there!

@Helen: You need to jump to get to the upper path. And get used to doing that; you'll be doing it a lot.

Hate, hate, HATE the riding minigame, especially when I'm expected to watch out for the bandits closing in from behind & for obstacles coming from in front. It leads to a lot of instances of "I totally jumped that!"

I know I gripe every time about laggy flash games, but is it just me? Is my computer that old? I tried two different browsers and on both the dialogue seemed really, really laggy. I wanted to play it, but every time I got to a dialogue part, I just wanted to quit.

NOOOOOoooooo! I still haven't finished the first one!

Reply

I want to do terrible, horrible things to the person who thought it was a good idea to add trees in the foreground during the horse minigame. Not only do you have to stay a certain distance in front because of the bandits, and jump ledges, holes, rocks, and other things, you have giant trees in the foreground obstructing your view just long enough for you to fall in a hole or trip over a rock.

Reply

@neo1973... it's not just you, I'm experiencing this game in bullet time in some parts. I wish there was a way to skip dialogue. The witty humour of the original wears off in this one when you have to ask the same question and listen to the same responses and then wait for the lips to stop moving.

I'm too stubborn to quit, however, I am lost...

I'm at the point where I have to give the monk guy a hairy red mushroom. I have the red hair and the mushroom but when I try to use either it says "Items will be combined automatically when you have all the parts". I've spoken and respoken to everybody. What am I missing?

Aside from the lag and irritating combat I think my main gripe with this is calling it Lucky Tower 2. It's the same main character but it's not a second version of the first. It should be Lucky Quest or something.

Reply

@ Dandy

You need something to "glue" the hair onto the mushroom.

I if I recall correctly you get it from the same guy that you are trying to give the mushroom to.

And, @ Dora

According to the in game help, this is a prequel, not a sequel. Not that it really matters, it's still just as irritating in spots either way.

Reply

biggest piss off... was the very end... those 'medusa' creatures...

absolutely no warning when they remove the mask, and seemingly random time between... one minute they take 50 seconds, next is 5.

Reply

Hello, I'm stuck at

the part of the combined mushroom... I have the glue and the mushroom, but where I can find the red hair?

Reply

hat parts are needed for the fricken red haired mushroom!!! and where do you get them . .. . i have fungus and gingers hair?

Reply

For the mushroom...

You need three things..

The mushroom.

The hair. You have to return to the troll cave after having done something else. I believe it was talking to the "wizard" (or whatever you want to call him) about the mushroom. The trolls will have a ginger held captive. Cut off some hair.

And something to glue the hair to the mushroom. This can be purchased from the wizard himself. (the guy that wants the mushroom.)

for some reason the last save point is still a long way(ish) before the end of the game, and there's 3 endings, so if you can't be bothered to replay the end 3 times...

Ending 1

Door 1 (far left). jumping on the teleporter will transport you back to the beginning of the game. You will be dumped on top of the king, deposing of him and becoming ruler for yourself. Sweeeeeet!

Ending 2

Door 2 (middle door). jumping on the teleporter reveals it not to be a teleporter at all, rather a trapdoor that you fall through. Who know what's under there, but when you reappear you do so as a ghost, just like King Morus! Maybe the two of you will become great friends, take boating trips on the Norfolk broads, buy a timeshare in Uganda, wear matching pajamas....or not. Whatever.

Ending 3

Door 3 (far left). This teleporter will take you back. Way Back. back into time. right back to the beginning of the first game in fact and you find yourself at the top of the tower with an intriguing hole in the floor. The end of the game will give you a chance to go back to play installment 1, but i don't have the time or the energy for that i'm afraid.

Reply
Freddy Enn November 30, 2012 1:32 PM

How to get the horse:

You don't have to get 1000 gold, which is pretty impossible anyway.

Talk to the kid next to the horsekeeper's house and give him a sweetie. He will do you a favour and urinate at the horsekeeper's house. Then you sneak in and get his diary, which you can use for blackmailing.

Some funny secrets I've found so far:

1) If you talk to the miller he will give a bread with honey. It's worth 5 gold, but when you eat the bread, the hero will make a :3-face

2) If you buy and use an egg, the hero will drop it, causing it to break.

3) If you eat a raw potatoe, the hero will get sick.

4) At the hatter, there is one hat called Gustavo's helmet. The description says that the hero thinks the hat is pretty ugly. If you try to put it on, the hero will refuse to do so.

5) There is a purple monster behind a stone next to the tower. If you kill it, you can take its skin, which is pretty good as armor.

Anyone else got some?

How the heck do I kill the purple thing right outside the tower where you get the trumpet? When I get near it swipes at me and disappears. Blocking does nothing, and if I try going from behind it doesn't appear at all.

To kill the purple monster outside the tower:

Find the man in town carrying around a crate and speak with him. Buy the lollipop for 90 gold, and when you next pass by the purple monster, it will come out from behind the rock.

To get past the blue monster with the hammer in the tower:

Go up to the third step on the third staircase, run back a bit, then try to jump over him. It'll probably take you a few tries.

I seem to be stuck, as I can't find a way out.

I'm in the cave where there are cliffs alternating sides as you go further down, leading to a lake with a fish. I got to the other side of the cave, where there is an empty pedestal surrounded by flowers, and it seems like it doesn't lead anywhere. I can't seem to manage to jump back the way I went in, the cliff/ platform things are too high.

Am I missing something?

Reply

@wwwjrodw The pedestal is a teleporter.

N.B. The first time through, the gatesman bugged out and asked me the questions before I left the town. I had no idea what was going on (as he didn't point the crossbow anywhere near me when he killed me).

@andr +1, the slow text is the worst part of this game

@Rygar the trees in the foreground and the bandits in the pony game are annoying, but there are enough save points that it is positively docile. Go finish VVVVVV with 20 medallions.

More info!

I fought the guy in the second town at a fistfight. Whenever I attack, he blocks. I tried attacking once he started attacking (cause, in games where the boss blocks every attack, the strategy is obviously to attack when their guard is down), and he disappeared (bugged out). Now I am stuck inside the house. Deeeeeerp.

Also,

I find it is far more effective to walk backwards to dodge, rather than use the shield.

The creator of the game has indicated that there is a secret shop. This is what he said on Kongregate:

in response to a question on whether there is a secret shop: "Sure is. Its all about love and is quite similiar to the undress-secret from Lucky Tower."

And later, in response to a question about a hint: "You get to it through the weapons merchant in the first town or Ursl in the second town. Its somewhere in the shops window."

I still can't figure out how to get to it. Has anybody been able to find the secret shop?

I have to say this game is so disappointing. The lag is so bad that it hardly registers when I'm attacking, and in the horse mini game (where I'm currently stuck) the stupid horse doesn't even jump half the time I press the button. The dialogue is so messed up that when they're done talking I have to sit and wait for their mouths to stop moving before I can continue, and sometimes it's so bad that I miss entire conversations because their mouths move quietly, and at the last second the dialogue flies by in both audio and the text box, so it's all over in the blink of an eye. It's a shame, too, because it might actually be as good as the first one and I'll never know.

Perhaps you should add a quality-toggle feature so we can cut back on the graphics a but for the sake of game play. Just a suggestion.

medusas? I've tried the golden shield (it says it reflects faces), a sack on my head, nothing seems to work.

About ending 3...

It's not actually back in time, it seems. It would be the "destiny" door, it appears, since this game's description on Kongregate claims it to be a PREQUEL to Lucky Tower.

@David Leffew: They're not Medusas, they're ME GUSTAS! xD

And there's really no trick. Just slice the heck out of them while they're shielding their face.
