boohbahzone.jpgJohnBBoohbah Zone is a surreal journey— wait, no, it's not really a journey. It's more of a... thing. A thing with lots of colors. Well, it's kind of like a webtoy, but you actually do stuff in some parts of it. Interactive art? You know what, forget classifying it, Boohbah Zone is an extremely bizarre collection of game-like scenes where you play with color, sound, and flobby-looking hippopotamus-like people things. That sounds about right. Oh, and it's based on the Boohbah television show created by the folks behind Teletubbies, so be sure and bring the kids in on this one.

Boohbah Zone is made up of a few dozen simple mini-game-like scenarios where you can interact with the mouse and watch stuff happen. Similar to Blue Suburbia in some ways (yeah, that's a bit of a stretch there), Boobah Zone drops you in different locales and leaves it up to you to figure out what to do. Maybe you click on the swirly rainbow thing to change its color? Maybe you'll arrange hippopotamus people to face the same direction? Or maybe you'll just watch the strange dance while you turn bits of the music on and off. Who knows. It's Boohbah.

From the opening screen you can either click the bubbles in the sky to visit different mini-games or make the rainbow swirl fill in at the bottom and click the present to select a few more. One consistent element in Boohbah Zone is the "back" icon at the lower left of each screen. Click this and you'll return to the previous screen, just in case what you've stumbled across was too "out there" for your human mind to handle.

So... yeah. Boohbah Zone. Whether the mini-game has a goal or not, you'll have a lot of fun trying to find out.

This Flash toy was around about 4 years ago and was one of my first introductions to how bizarre Flash creations could be.

One of the most amazing things about this Flash is how much the humour and fun transcends age groups. I remember walking in to find people giggling uncontrollably over trampoline people and Boobah shrieks. It was almost as if the toddler minds became unlocked by this mysterious force of rainbows and magic.

I remember this game. When I first played it, it blew my mind. Still holds up surprising well.

I'm sad to admit I actually watched this show. This webtoy, thankfully, is much better than the show.

Oh my gosh. I actually found this...'webtoy' about a year ago. And now it's here. On jayisgames. Great.

Oh, and another thing that's great is that the yellow 'Boohbah' reminds me of the fatsack from the Brackenwood movies.

Holy crap. You guys are taking this seriously?

BOOBAHS. They are from a good 4 or 5 years ago. They are a freaky version of Telletubbies. I think they're British. How I know? My younger cousins where watching baby TV and hated this show. This is no webtoy. It's for toddlers who can use a computer.

That is, by far, the most disturbing thing I have ever seen and heard.

Haha! Lol! FOTFL! ROAD! ROFL! Al the above. I remember a time when I was still in high school and my friends and I entered the art class room as usual every morning before the bell rang and THAT! show was on the tv. I nearly died from brain melt. I still can't believe people actually let their children watch that.

Oh, and I loved this line: "flobby-looking hippopotamus-like people things." A very accurate if not hilarious description.

I have never seen it before, but I love it.

That's....I....yeah.

A couple years ago, I had someone foist this site on me. It's like an anti-shock site:

"Hey, type this in your address bar and watch it! It's really offensive and is sure to hurt your brain!"

Then they have to put up with Boobah Zone. It's fun to stagger around during a sugar high when you have nothing else to do, I guess...

I came across this years ago and was thinking about featuring it in an April fools post once.

It surely is a fun diversion to check out if you haven't ever seen it. Very odd. If there were ever a 'sequel' to Zombo com, this might be what I would expect to see. xD

Actually, April Fool's would be more appropriate than Hallowe'en.
"Welcome... To Boobah Zone!" Yeah, it works out about as well.

I find this webtoy kind of pointless. I agree, it isn't really anything, so i find it kind of pointless. I kind of like to now what the point is. Especially in a webtoy type of thing.

To me, webtoys are generally pointless anyways, so there's no point in trying to find the point, because that would be, uh, pointless. xD

Isn't this thing like a million internet-years old?

I am pretty sure boobah is a hebrew word for doll.

I have a link to Boohbah for my kindergarten students to play. Its great because there is no advertising to confuse them. They love it and it gives them plenty of mouse practice and cause and effect type play. It was created with little children in mind but poses a puzzle to anyone over 6 years old. Nice review JohnB.

I'm not playing it. It will just make my brain melt, explode, overload, override, or just plainly make me go crazy and make me think I'm a toddler who likes the number 42 and is a super genius and spends all his time watching boo-bahs! *1. it's a starnge teletubbie spoof. 2. Yes, I do have a vivid imagination.*
