JessRobot RoomRobot Room is a fun, cute, sometimes baffling room escape game featuring—you guessed it—robots! Don't worry, though, they aren't scary, mean robots a la the Terminator; their sole purpose, it seems, is to stand around with their hands in the air (raising the roof?), tantalizingly dangling important escape items just out of your reach.

There's a fair amount of Japanese text in Robot Room, and at times it can be frustrating to find potentially-helpful notes written in a foreign language. However, despite the language barrier, Robot Room is solvable; more difficult, certainly, than if there was an English translation, but solvable nonetheless. It's a nice room escape with some interesting and quirky puzzles, and you definitely ought to give it a shot.

Walkthrough Guide

(Please allow page to fully load for spoiler tags to be functional.)

Walkthrough:

The Pink Robot

  1. From the first screen go right.

  2. Click on the TV screen to zoom in on it and grab the pointer on the top left. Go ahead and click the end of it to extend it. Zoom out and go right.

  3. Grab the blue button remote from the cabinet and go left back to the pink robot.

  4. Click down by the pink robots legs to see a piece of paper with some colors on it. Remember the order of these colors.

  5. Zoom back out and click on the TV screen again. Use the blue remote (drag and drop) on the screen to see 12 robots dancing. After a second you should see each robot has a different colored back. Note the robots in the bottom left and right corners has the * and # symbols on their backs. What does this remind you of?

A telephone! Match up the colors from the piece of paper with the corresponding robot and get the number that would be in its place. Need some help?

    Try: 3194

  6. With number in hand, zoom out and click on the keypad next to the pink robot and enter in the number and hit ENTER. The pink robots arms will have dropped. Take the battery and the blue block with a hole.

The Yellow Robot

  1. Go right twice and click on the screen of the laptop. Click the power button, then the folder that is on the screen. Watch the movie and pay attention to the place that sparkles.

  2. Zoom out. You can grab the little green robot, but it doesn't have anything to do with escaping. Check underneath the back of the coffee table to find the flashlight. It doesn't seem to turn on, but fortunately you have a battery. Drag the battery to the head of the flashlight to turn it on. Zoom out and go left once.

  3. Zoom in under the cabinet and use the flashlight to brighten things up. Remember the shining spot? Use the pointer at this location to grab a brown key. Zoom out.

  4. Use the brown key on the locked cabinet to get the red button remote.

  5. Go left once, zoom in on the TV and use the red remote to see a new clip. This one seems kind of obvious.

  6. Zoom out, go right twice and push the yellow button down for a couple of seconds. Grab the screwdriver and the blue legs.

The Orange Robot

  1. Go left once and use the screwdriver on the black panel.

  2. This reveals a blue and red button. If you examine the black panel on the floor, behind it is a piece of paper which says blue is down, red is up. Having problems?

Try clicking the blue button, but while your mouse button is pressed down, move it over to the red button and let go. Easy!

  3. Grab the microphone and the blue arms.

The Escape

  1. Head left twice back to the starting screen. Examine the blue block with the hole in it. Drag the blue legs and arms to assemble them. Now add the flashlight as the head.

  2. Zoom in on the grate above the sitting green robot. Place the newly build blue robot inside the vent. Zoom out and go left once.

  3. Now zoom in on the keyboard of the laptop. Attach the microphone to the little gray port in the front. Click the microphone and watch the clip.

  4. Go right once, zoom in on the grate and grab the orange key. Zoom out, use the key on the door and open it. You've escaped!

This room could also be called Short Person's Nightmare.

I'm a bit stuck and really wish I could snatch those items off those robots with their mocking neutral faces.

Reply

This is tricky, I only have three items. :|

Reply

arrr.. too hard for me. I need to play this game with English translations, I have no patience. Cute looking game though, it does look interesting.

Reply

i'm totally stuck already. ihave theflashlight but ca't reach item under cabinet.

dancing robots that have phone symbols and colors on their backs on tv just does everything, but help crack the code xD

and being stuck is what 4/5 people that can't understand it are. still a good game, though.

twosixtyseven July 22, 2008 11:56 PM

so, where's everybody at? i'm stuck.

i have no clue what to do with:

the opened panel with the red and blue buttons. the panel says that they maybe mean up or down but since i don't read kanji (i think that's what it is), i can't tell if it's upside down or what they mean.

Reply

How did you open the panel?

Reply
annabanana July 23, 2008 12:00 AM

where is the flashlight?

Reply

The flashlight is

Under the desk with the laptop on it

Reply
twosixtyseven July 23, 2008 12:22 AM

corky:

i opened the panel by pointing the red remote at the tv screen and following the directions to find the

flathead screwdriver in the yellow robot's hand

Reply

Thanks, but then my next question is, where's the red remote? xD

Reply

Scratch that, found it. :D

Reply
twosixtyseven July 23, 2008 12:36 AM

haha. i debated writing where to get that but it was just getting to the point where i was writing a walkthrough to the point i was at, haha.

Reply

I'm part of the way through. So far, I've "solved" the pink robot and the yellow robot.

To solve the pink robot:

Use the blue remote from the dresser on the TV, and watch the pattern of dancers. Mentally number them left-to-right, top-to-bottom, so that red is 1 and brown is 9. Then, pixelhunt for a hotspot with a color code.

At the feet of the pink robot, you'll find a card with four colors on it. Those colors correspond to the numbers you just derived from the dancers.

Punch those into the four-digit keypad to solve the pink robot. The code is

3194.

To solve the yellow robot:

Grab the pointer on top of the television, if you don't have it already.

Get the flashlight from under the coffee table and the battery from the pink robot. Combine, and look to the computer for the clue on where to look.

Illuminate under the dresser, then poke the shiny spot with the pointer to get the key.

Use the key to unlock the dresser, then use the red remote on the television. Follow the television's instructions.

Now I'm stuck--I think I'm supposed to solve the orange robot next, and I'm partially there, but I haven't figured it out yet. Anybody else in the same spot, or hopefully a little further?

Reply
twosixtyseven July 23, 2008 1:05 AM

i'm in the same spot =)

i've got:

flathead screwdriver, semi-assembled (legs/torso) blue robot, blue button, flashlight, extendo pole, red button

Reply
twosixtyseven July 23, 2008 1:07 AM

err... not sure if that was my fault or not. my bad! anyways, side note:

What is

that thingy under the cabinet thing? on the computer it looks like it's growing mushrooms or something?? wha?

Reply

Update: I just solved the orange robot.

First, use the screwdriver to take the panel off the wall by the orange robot.

This is a terrible spoiler because I don't know how or why it worked, or which part of it was correct, but: I held down the red button for several seconds, then, with my mouse still clicked, slid over to the blue button and clicked it. Held it down for several seconds, then slid my still-clicked mouse back to the red button. The robot's arms came down and I have no idea why.

Almost finished! (I hope!)

So does anyone know what to do after you

Connect the microphone to the laptop?

Reply
Anonymous July 23, 2008 1:15 AM

for the orange robot

there is a note on the back of the black panel that you screw off

press down and hold the blue button

Reply
twosixtyseven July 23, 2008 1:17 AM

scottique:

it makes sense now *facepalm* you hold the blue button (DOWN), then raise the mouse click on the red button(UP). why didn't i think of that =(

Reply
Anonymous July 23, 2008 1:28 AM

I just finished it!

the flashlight is the robot's head

put the robot in the duct

talk to it in the microphone

collect the key and you escape!

Reply

Wow that was a good one. Finally got out. :D

Reply
twosixtyseven July 23, 2008 1:31 AM

how? all i did was

solved the orange robot, connect the mic, and connect the blue robot pieces. what next? It has to do with that brown thing, doesn't it?

Reply

I never got the brown thing
After you get the orange robot things:

Connect the microphone to the laptop

Connect the flashlight to the blue guy

Place the blue guy in the vent thing above the sitting guy

Go to the laptop and click on the mic, and watch the cut scene thing

Go back to the blue guy, get the key.

Use key on door. :D

Reply
Anonymous July 23, 2008 9:55 AM

how do you connect the microphone to the laptop?

Reply
OrigamiMarie July 23, 2008 10:28 AM

Sigh. Pixel hunting to find the hot-spot. Stuff that doesn't work until you've been shown a movie. Totally invisible items to retrieve. Tools that could do something obvious

like a nice long pointer to knock stuff off of high places or push a distant button

but do something else. And a two-pixel hot-spot

to plug the mic into the laptop

which I still haven't found, and won't bother with anymore. And the language barrier isn't really their fault because obviously English isn't their native language, but I guess prefer the elegance of puzzles that rely more on picture than written words anyway. Oh well. At least there are other escapes to play :).

Reply

Somehow I just can't connect the blue pieces.

Reply

Never mind, I got it. And I'M FREEEEEEEEE

Reply

When I click all around the robots I feel like I'm frisking them.

It's actually kind of dirty.

Reply

The blue guy wont except the flashlight as his head :(

Reply
anelson July 23, 2008 1:30 PM

I've been clicking all over the computer and I still can't figure out how to attach the microphone.

Reply

anelson - To plug the mic in:

While you are zoomed out on the computer, click on the front left side of it. That should give you a close up of the computer from a front left angle. You'll see the place to plug the mic in on the right side.

That drove me wacky too and it turned out to be simplier than expected.

Reply

I'm also lost on how to

assemble the blue robot pieces

Reply

Glomer, start with the feet then drag the other pieces on.

Reply

That's what I've been trying. Is there some trick to dragging the pieces? Do the legs need to be put somewhere before you drag the rest onto them?

Reply

Are there more than

three blue man pieces

Reply
anelson July 23, 2008 4:10 PM

Glomer there are the

3 blue peices and the flashlight is used for the head

Reply
Anonymous July 23, 2008 4:23 PM

I can't make the pieces fit either and I have all of them

Reply
strakka July 23, 2008 4:57 PM

Weirdness.

Glomer:

I managed to assemble the blue robot going body, legs, shoulders/arms, head.

How odd.

put together the blue robot

either. any tips?

Reply
bmesch2k July 24, 2008 2:24 AM

waycooler: to build the blue bot

you start with the feet and work your way up

Reply

For the blue robot, I had to

start with the body open and add the legs and arms and head. That was the only way it would work for me, and believe me, I tried all the others.

This game seemed to run a bit slow for me, slow responding to clicks and stuff. Anyone else have that?

@amylu: that is apparently how i needed to do it too. stupid thing.

at the end, you see a

white t-shirt and the rocker dude and whatnot. if you click and drag on parts of the t-shirt, you can select text. a quick translation using Google tells me that the t-shirt says either

"Love's telephone number" or possibly "Love's greeting"

this is of course a rough translation, so who knows? *shrug*

The secret of the brown thing under the shelf.

as translated by Babel Fish: "Simply, like the lumber but…."

Thank God we cleared that up.

I was sorely disappointed that they gave me a police baton, but then I didn't get to wail on anything with it.
