Death Village
The other discovery is Death Village, a wonderful little game by Nigoro in which you guide a trembling little nebbish of a man around a haunted castle, using various traps and spooks to literally scare him onto the right path while being careful not to scare him to death. This playthrough video of the first level does a good job of demonstrating how the game works and how to play it. The game's title screen indicates a level editor, but it's grayed-out and looks like it's not available yet.

Complete Walkthrough
(some parts were collected from other comments posted later. -Jay)
Level 1 (Standby Hut):
First, slam the nearby door open and shut a few times. If a ghost pops out of one of the windows and scares your guy, slam the door again a few times to refresh his level of fear. If you do it right, the guy will run by the first staircase, and you'll not have to worry about him running into that mummy upstairs. Now open the door on the level below the first door you opened, and if after descending the guy tries to go back up, click the staircase to make him fall down again. Once he gets to the ground level, let him go up the stairs (to where you've hopefully opened the door by now). You'll notice he starts shimmying along instead of plainly walking; break his concentration by slamming the door behind him, and he'll fall to the ground where he'll instinctively head for the exit.
Level 2 (Solitary House):
Open the nearby door really fast, before the guy starts up the staircase. This will make him turn around instead of wasting time on the top floor. Let him wander out onto the balcony, then knock on the window behind him. After he falls down a floor, let him walk onto the balcony there and repeat the process. Now, open the door here, and open the door nearest to the exit. Once he starts walking along this last balcony towards the door you opened earlier, wait until he's slightly to the left of the staircase below and slam the door to break his concentration yet again. Now, as soon as he passes the mummy coffin click on it. He won't be quite scared enough to begin with, but since you've closed the door he won't pause at the drop-off and will eventually get close enough to be scared out of his mind. Fortunately, because the door opens away from him anyway he can just barrel right through and (thanks to cartoon physics) run right over the gap, where he meets the bliss of a convenient wall, as well as the exit.
Level 3 (House with Steeple):
Much simpler than it appears to be. All you really have to do here is click the window on the lowest level with the ghost behind it when the guy is at the window next to it (before he gets on the staircase), and he will do the rest. If you're wondering, that basin in the corner is made of iron, falls if the wall nearby is struck hard enough, and will kill the guy if it drops on him.
Level 4 (Panic Slider):
A fun one that's also simpler than it appears at first. To finish this one, you need to first open the door with the toilet inside, click the staircase, click the toilet, then click the yellow basin which will knock the guy back to his senses so he can open the door instead of run off into the chasm. When he's about halfway across the gap is generally the best time to click the basin.
Level 5 (Mansion of the Hands):
A longer level this time. First, open the bathroom door or otherwise stall the guy just enough to avoid the blast of air in the cracked wall. Then, open the door to the building on the right. Wait until he goes through the door and is scared by the hands, then click the mummy coffin on the roof of the left building before the guy runs past and goes sailing over the edge that way. He'll then run back the way he came, but this time won't be stopped by the hands and end up on the third floor. When he's 3/4ths of the way up the staircase, click the mummy coffin and then the window in front of the staircase. Once he goes by the wooden beam, click the window behind him to send him down to the place where the mummy now will not rampage. Wait until he goes down the staircase, then click the basin once he gets in range to save him once again from his fear. Finally, wait until he's almost finished descending that staircase, then click the nearby window and he'll run to safety and the exit.
Level 6 (The Corridor):
Had me stumped last night, but I worked it out today (wsz's hints on the hands that come out of the walls helped). First, look at the level just above the starting position, and open the door on the right first. Then, wait until the hero finishes going up the stairs, and slam open the door on the left. If you don't do it right, don't worry; you have some time to spare. Just make sure he heads into the room with the toilet. Once he does, click it, and watch him run far, far away. Now open the door right in front of him before he gets up and decides to go down the stairs instead. Then, once he gets outside the door and turns around, slam the door shut on him. After he falls down, he'll try climbing the stairs. Click the stairs before he gets more than a couple steps up, and he'll eventually scare himself so silly that he makes an Indiana Jones-esque run for the exit.
Level 7 (Fly to the Second House):
Wow, I like the music here. :D The solution here is really simple. First, you open two doors in the 'first' house (on the level just above the start and near the clickable staircase at the top). Then, wait for the guy to start down the clickable staircase at the top, then click the staircase. As soon as he gets on the other side of the nearby door, slam it shut. If done right, he'll just barely land on the ledge leading into the 'second' house, and start down the stairs there. Click that staircase, and he'll smack into and slide down the wall to the level with the exit.
Level 8 (Underground Path):
A lengthier level this time. First, wait until the protagonist is out on the balcony just over the staircase below, then slam open the nearby door. Once he starts down the stairs, click the staircase to make him fall. While he gets up, move over to the right a bit and slam open the door with the left-facing handle on the level just above where the guy is now. Then, let him do his thing, and when he gets scared by the hands slam the door you just opened on his behind, and once he starts down the nearby staircase click it. Now wait until he starts climbing the staircase leading to the level with two coffins, and open the door there. After he passes the door, shut it. Next, you have to open the door near the iron basin, and once he gets across the small balcony section slam the door shut. Once he starts going across again, open it and he will fall to the next level and be safely out of the way of the falling basin. Now all you have to do is click the yellow basin on the same level, and the guy will do the rest.
Level 9, Fort of basins:
You need really good mouse, quick hand, and some luck to pass through this level.
As he get out of the entrance door, it's wise to quickly open the the door at the floor above him.
Then, before he finish walking through the broken floor, click the yellow basin to scare him (that's 3rd floor of right building).
Since there's about 2 seconds leeway, open the door on the left of where he entered (that's 2nd floor of right building).
He will be scared by the hands, and run through the first door (1st floor of right building). He will slam onto the 2nd door (1st floor of left building), QUICKLY open and close the door. That should get him inside.
As he climb the stairs, open the 2nd floor door on the left building, so he can pass by after climbing.
He will now go to the 2 coffin floor. Make sure the mummy on the right never gets out, by knock on the coffin when it starts shaking. However, we want the left mummy to scare him. Do so by click on the left coffin, when he get onto the floor. The scaring trick is as followed: As he walks toward the closed door of that floor, click on the left coffin, once. A mummy should come out very soon. He will get scared and run toward the closed door. Open the door, when he is on the RIGHT side of BOTH coffins, that will scare him 2nd time. As he run back (toward left), the mummy will scare him the 3rd time. Then, he will run to the right building, 2nd floor.
You can close that door, after he landed, to save time. (2nd floor, right building)
He will go up one floor, and get scared by the hands, and run left. Slam the door on him, so he won't run out of the 3rd floor. After he calmed down, he should go up.
As he climb up, make sure that top mummy never gets out any more; if he is still out, wait for him to go back in. You do so by knock on the coffin whenever it shakes.
If everything goes well, he should head to the top floor with a big scar. However, if you are unable to do so, due to the fact that the coffin shakes all the time. Double click the coffin, whenever he turns his back on it. That will make the mummy skip the next turn to get out.
Now, is where the luck part get in. The air blows every 5, 6, or 7 seconds (I counted, but it never blow on a set time), and he need to get scared by it. So, you have to keep him at the top floor at all time, either open/close the door to scare him, or knock on it to get his attention. Just keep him there (2nd option may be better).
And, if you do well, he will be scared, and run toward the left building, and slam onto the right one of the double doors. QUICKLY open and close the door, before he get killed by basin.
Then, open the left door for him. And he will take care of the rest, like going downstairs to go to the exit.
Level 10, Hurried Tower:
This level is MUCH easier than the last one, as long as you have quick hand, and good mouse.
WATCH OUT! He will fall as he exit the entrance. You need to quickly zoom out, do it faster than he fall, and you will see a door on the bottom. So, when he fall to the position next to the door, open it quickly to bounce him onto the platform on the right side. If you do not do it fast enough, he will die in 2 seconds, literally.
He will climb stairs now. Use these time to get rid of the 2 yellow basins in the level, by click on them. Also, open the door on 3rd floor as early as possible.
Try to prevent the mummy on the 3rd floor get out before you pass it.
If you got enough luck, means, if you did above fast enough, he will NOT get air blown onto him. Thus, he will walk all the way to the right, then up, and then to the left.
He needs to get onto the top, thus, open the doors on his way, include the one on the top floor, that leads to the broken floor. Also, it would be nice if you can prevent the mummy getting out, by double click the coffin.
When he get onto the top, the door to the right should already open. Let him walk on the broken floor. When he is in the middle of it, slam the door shut, and that would scare him to make him fall.
There's a door 2 floors down on the bottom (above the exit). When he in the horizontal position as that door, open it, so that he will be bounced to the left.
There's also some broke floor on the left. Slam shut the door when he walks on it, and that would get him onto the same floor as the exit.
That's it. Game completed. Congratulations!

Hints and tips on how to use items and objects in the game
The doors:
If you open/close right in front of him, he will get scared, and go to the other direction.
But this is a distance-dependent trick, if he's too far aways, he will just be surprised, and/or sigh.
If you knock on them, or open/close not in front of his eyes (behind him or there's a huge way dividing them), he will just have a question mark and walk toward that direction to see what happened.
Also, beware of the direction of the doors, since depends on their directions and whether you are closing or opening them, you can either knock him back to the direction he came, or give him a boost toward the direction he is going.
The trick will have immediate effect.
The windows:
Certain windows will have a ghost come out and boo at you, when you knock on them—good for scare him to make he go to the other direction.
Careful, if you do that on top of him, he will be "scared to death" immediately.
There is 1 or 2 second delay, so knock on the window early...
The stairs:
Certain stairs can turn into slides when you click on them—and he will go down much faster.
Also, according to physics, he will be projected out *hint for certain later levels*.
It has immediate effect.
The floors:
Certain parts of floor can let the character fell right through (to reach the floor below it).
Still, if the distance is too high, the character will die.
You can tell those parts by 1) they have only a white top, but no black / solid bottom, and 2) the character is moving very slowly + carefully when stand on these parts of floors.
Scare him to make him fell through.
The coffins:
Mummies will come out of them.
However, certain mummies come out only when you knock on them, and the others come out at a timely fashion (watch the clock on the screen carefully). As for which is which, you need to find out by yourself, since they do not have special design as for windows + stairs.
The mummies would walk a designed (short) path, and return to their coffins. However, if you divide them and their coffins with a door, they will simply vanish.
The mummies would shake coffins up a bit before coming out, and thus, there's a 2 or 3 sec delay.
The basins:
2 types, yellow and white.
You can click yellow ones to make them drop.
As for the white ones, they will only drop if you "knock on something really hard", be it you run into walls, or fell through floors.
Sometimes it's good to get knock by them, that's when the character running like crazy, and you do not want him run out of the building (especially when he is not on the first floor). And sometimes they can K.O. you.
The yellow ones have about a second delay, be mindful about it.
The bats:
They only fly around when there's a sound, be it knock/open/close doors or drop of a basin.
The have designed path for flying, although the path is not straight at all.
DO NOT let them touch you, or you will be "scared to death" immediately.
The move as soon as the sound is produced, and quit after their designed flight.
The hands:
It's really scary for him, so he will run toward the opposite direction, if he can.
However, if he fell on top of the hands, and he's not looking at them, he will be fine.
On the other hand, if he fell on them, and he's looking at them, he will die.
It only actives when the character is in close enough range.
Air blowing:
Air will blow out of the walls that have a big scar.
He will run like hell.
It's timed, so again, watch the clock.
Scary levels:
It ranges from just surprised (then he will sigh of relief, which takes about 4 second), to walk away, to run away (though doors <-- he opens them himself), to scared to death. Of course you do not want to last one, since you got to play the level again.
I think, just think, that if you scare him 3 times, CONTINUALLY, he will run away very quickly, and 4 times he will die. I need someone confirm that.
